Hello, human bein/g/s.
Gonna install arch linux, what do you have to say about all the DEs?
GNOME?
KDE?
XFCE?
CINNAMON?
MATE?
???
One more thing: is it possible to make GNOME windows integrate to top bar like ubuntu unity does?
awesomewm
i3wm? btw has anyone tried the version for wayland? does it even work yet?

Any DE is fine, it's going to break eventually and then you will just use the terminal like other arch users because you suddenly "like the CLI more".
ITT: post your worst code
No, you are going to vomit.
i don't think i have a license for the worst code i wrote
god i hope it's been replaced
> shitty non-english code
You can't beat me fuckers
Why the fuck are so many non-tech people turned off by electronic books? I don't mean e-books but novels, dictionaries, textbooks that are in pdf, epub etc.
Even college students and high school students hate reading on the computer. Don't these idiots value having no books to carry? Are /g/ anons more open minded?
For some reason I can't comprehend things as well as I can when they're in print form..
I normally print the sections that I need, but ebooks are good for control fing
Fiction I enjoy as hard copy, non-fiction and technical books I read as e-books.
>>57961882
Really? I actually remember words better when they're bright and colored on computer than on books.
I don't hate physical books but they are heavy and cumbersome. I've never understood people who claim 'I need to feel the book' or 'love the smell'. I just pick up the information when reading on a computer.
I must be in a minority.
Is Dropbox a botnet?
dude botnet lmao
Most likely. Why would you trust another company with your files?
>>57961938
Because I (want to) pay them money.
First AMD Vega Machine Learning Card leaked http://videocardz.com/64677/amd-announces-first-vega-accelerator-radeon-instinct-mi25-for-deep-learning

Dear /g/
My company is doing sweeps every now and then to monitor the applications installed and they only allow software required for work.
I am traveling abroad with this only laptop and will die without Steam. Are there any ways to uninstall it without a trace? I was considering to create a system restore point, as I'm not sure the regular uninstall method is clean enough. Or is the restore point generally a bad move on corporate Windows OS-es?
Swapping to a new SSD is not an option.

How about following your employer's rules you fucking dumbass? Your job isn't a game where you can do whatever you want retard.
Buy your own hdd and replace the hard drive inside of it. Before returning to work, switch it back. Also, start saving for your own thinkpad or something so that this doesn't happen again. The hdd won't be a waste because it'll come in handy someday, believe me bub.
>>57961731
You don't install unneded sowftware on your PC for work. Period.
If you want to play, use your own laptop or a tablet.
>start working in a tech startup
>be the only person with a PC
>keep using Illustrator while everyone uses sketch
>coworkers send me .sketch files
>"oh anonymous can edit it if you need"
>"oh you're PC,we need to hook you up with a Mac for productivity"
Don't want that shit
Should I bother emulating?
A professional gets the job done with whatever tools are handed to him.
Just get it if it's free. Who gives a shit

I'd actually be less productive with a Mac. I'm either too autistic or not enough to operate it
What's the best SSH/Telnet terminal for Windows and why is it SecureCRT?
This brings what to the table that putty doesn't?
>>57961634
PuTTy is the best SSH/Telnet terminal client for Windows.

>>57962895
>>57963108

Found this usb with weird file names on it. Every time I try to open a folder this message pops up...what do /g/?
The file called userkey.psw has me most intrigued. Also for some reason there's files for Hopsin songs.

>>57961687
Wouldn't surprise me. Guess I was hoping for something more exciting.
Who even likes this?
Why am I forced to use a product from a fruit company to avoid it?
have you tried not having autism?
>>57961585
Nobody is forcing you to do anything.
If you get your ideas and opinions from the mob, this is what happens.

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).
----
If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.
