When I last purchased an SSD (~2012) the generally recommended brands were Samsung, Intel and maybe Crucial. Has this changed? I'm looking to buy a 250-500 GB one now.
>>57955935
buy intel if you care about your data
>>57955935
Buy a M.2 SSD, preferably from samsung.
>>57955935
Also, what's the deal with AMD making Radeon SSD?
Old thread: >>57948378
What are you working on, /g/?
Am I the only one who enjoys talking and reading about programming more than actually doing it?
I just can't come up with anything.

I decided to make it so that my stippling algo couldn't overlap, but then it ended up just not working and it ran forever.

It's 2016 and we're still not living in the cyberpunk world
What went wrong?
Just because there arent robots doesnt mean we are not living the cyberpunk world

>input two strings
>output string with maximum number of maximum length alphabet substrings
for example:
aabb

=
abcd abd ab b
This is how coding is thought at universities, folks.
Don't be that guy. Work on practical problems instead.
>>57955475
>alphabet substrings
What the fuck do you even mean like that?
I cannot see the pattern that caused those inputs to return those outputs.

Disgusting.
>>57955504
jesus christ, you input any two strings and make mini alphabets with the letters you have
Really makes you think...

I am looking to install an app on my windows laptop that allows me to view my live camera feed from my phone. I would need to be able to log in to view the webcam while I am not around it. The catch is that I need to be able to log in and view the camera without it affecting the operations of the laptop or interrupt any live feeds that may be going on.
Prey project
I looked into prey project and it is intended to be a recovery tool for lost or stolen devices. It has a monthly membership fee and does not indicate the ability to view the camera feed on the devices.
I am still hoping to find a nice app/program.
You could use an app that routinely snaps pics and saves them in a linked Dropbox folder
I installed linux mint for my grandmother that was sick of Windows. She tells me that it freezes on her at random intervals, and doing different things. Managing pictures, internet shopping, playing flash games, etc. Could this be a problem with xorg?
Details in pic related.

Hey /g/, I've become remarkably uncomfortable with the amount of surveillance I am under on my home internet connection (other local users, not NSA people that know anyway).
What methods might they be employing to gain access to my internet history/account information? (And yes, I'm sure they're monitoring my usage in some capacity)

Patricians are busy doing important shit and dont care about what browser they use.
Anyone else genuinely dislike this guy? He seems like an autist in the worst kind of ways. All his opinions seem to be nonsensical and based on his own very parochial anxieties, even stuff unrelated to open-source software.
>>57955251
I agree with a large portion of what he says, but his methods for expressing his ideas are pretty cringeworthy and he seems to have zero concept of manners. I would not fault you for disliking the man.
Umm, did you just assume his gender?
Plus he eats shit from his feet in from of an audience.
Are HDDs completely obsolete now?

Hey /g/, im gonna try to make my story as short as possible. I never had access to any technology or internet at home until i was 16 (2 years ago). As a result, i have been left behind of the digital age and have no experience whatsoever in consumer technology. I am currently pursuing tech certifications (CompTIA a+) and learning as much as I can to get up to speed and know everything there is about tech, and become an IT professional. Thoughts and advice would be much appreciated
Is building a PC a good place to start? playing with circuits? Would buying raspberry pie be dumb? What are the best tech sites and channels?
>>57955177
Build a PC. A REAL PC. Not some recipe you found online or some LTT shillbox. Learn what you need to consider, start shopping, and plan your build. Also, circuit fuckery is a good idea. Raspberry pi is nope.
>>57955177
I'm sure there's something else you could do. Can't you just deal drugs like your cousin?
