I just installed vanilla ubuntu and I'm loving it, it just werks, why does everyone hate it so much?, I've used fedora and other ubuntu spins before, but vanilla ubuntu just works and looks great out of the box.
Well Fedora is better so, sorry you downgraded. Enjoy Your Amazon spyware.

I like ubuntu mate
Agreed friend. After trying tonnes of distros over the course of a year, I ended back with Ubuntu.
Install Arch. Now.

ubuntu gets hate because of the unity desktop environment that got forced on many happy
mate users
it got forked and is now much more polished as cinnamon and is idiot-proofed as it gets in the linux mint distro - which my grandmother actually uses....

I dislike Ubuntu because it wanted me to login to some account when installing my applications and kept throwing up the occasional error message. It was mostly just an annoyance and didn't reduce functionality much, but I've switched to Solus and I'm happy with it so far.
Not sure if the errors were unity or Ubuntu since it was just "unexpected error", so Ubuntu with other DEs might be great too, but Solus hasn't been throwing any error messages for me lmao. Only issue is it sucks using broadcom wireless cards, but I managed to get it working, so it's good enough I suppose.

Once accurate, but not anymore. Which is why it's sad the only thing many on /g/ can actually say negative about Ubuntu when there's so much more to say.

ehh, ubuntu and mint don't ship w broadcom drivers either. i had to plug in ethernet to finish install and it was one click installation after that, didn't have to dick around w it

Yeah Solus was one click on my desktop, it seemed like one click on my laptop but then Wi-Fi still wouldn't work after "one click", reinstalled it and it worked though so maybe I just fucked something up.
Mint and Ubuntu are both really user friendly and I love that, but Solus just seems to run smoother on lower end hardware which is why I'm sticking with it on my laptop.
