A guy had the entirety of Usenet for a ten year period on some tapes. It comes to 18GB when uncompressed. Even at the time it would have been possible for a group to save this. Expensive, but possible.
If we were to "lose" the web we'd be totally screwed and it would all be gone since people don't even save their own things any more. And with ever larger file formats (4K video, etc) it's only going to get a whole lot bigger in to the future.
Does any one else worry about the long-term security of all this data we're producing? It seems far too easy to say "Oh, we'll be fine," and hoping for the best.

I use Solus on my laptop because it just werks, it werks better than windows, and my laptop has shit specs.
Huge overall performance gain for web browsing and general use.

Alright /g/ I'm getting a new monitor, help me out.
My current monitor is pic related(1080p, 60hz, 6ms response time), and i want to upgrade to either 1440p or 144hz or both, with a lower response time(1-3ms)
Do you guys have any experience buying these kind of monitors? And any recommendations are welcome. Thanks

Need some advice on what monitors to buy, I really have no idea what I should get other than I know that i want a 2560x1440 IPS panel for a decent price (if possible)
27inch, would consider 25 or something like that
will be used for a lot of graphic design and things of that nature
do i have unrealistic expectations or can this be a reality /g/?

Is anyone else excited by the prospect of e-ink monitors?
Eye strain is a real pita. For simply browsing chans, email and basic web browsing an e-ink display would be great.
The main hurdle I see is the refresh rate of the e-ink image and of course the price of the technology for consumers.

Im tired of my huge ass case taking up so much space, despite it being a mid tower. I have been looking into Mini ATX and Micro ITX cases--would this be a bad idea if I want to mainly use it for gaming? It would have to run a GTX 1080 and an overclocked 6700k with decent temps (preferably air cooling). Or do you think a small form factor case should not be used for high fps 2k/4k gaming?
Also any small case recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Be prepared for a lot of noise. I use a full sized tower and all that's audible is two of the hard drives (they're 7200rpm HGST NAS drives) and the GPU when heavily gaming because all 7 of the case fans can turn slowly and still get great airflow.
