nice bait if you exclude winblows.

Who the fuck cares? Honestly go back to redd!t you freshman faggot. Cause like what, your daddy complimented you on your computer skills when you knew how to torrent his favorite movie? You thought you were cool because you put together a computer when you were 14? Wow dude, I bet all your siblings came to you for help when it came to building lego. Oh and don't even get me started on how mature you must have felt as a kid when you posted on forums pandering to unhygienic men on welfare. Christ, I bet you even looked up some programming tutorials while in highschool; must have felt like a real champ with that pirated version of visual studio open along with your first hello world program typed up inside. I bet everyone thought you were real smart, so it's odd about how mediocre your grades were; must be the system that's broken and that grades aren't important in the real world. But hey, someone you managed to get into college! What's this? You know how to use vim now? Wow you're so cool, knowing how to type stuff into that terminal thing like hackers do. Man I wish I were like you! I bet you even have some snarky comment stowed away in your artillery ready to be used whenever a prominent figure in tech is mentioned. Oh you heard the name Stallman? You say he hasn't done anything relevant since emacs and then quote that interjection you read on /g/? Haha, you're so witty! What's this now? You even attended one of his seminars but don't remember anything he said but have an sd card filled with his pics you've taken? You're an absolute madman haha! It's okay, I bet he didn't say anything interesting anyway, it's not like you don't understand it. He's just an extremist lol! Oh man you're so good at tech! I wish I were so cool like you.
Go strangle yourself with a cat5 you faggot.
Can /g/ tell me what kind of laptop this is?
It has no stickers on it, it runs Windows 8.1, and I bought it for 20 dollars at a yard sale
It's an HP.
>>57953168
Obviously, but I meant the exact model
HP g6.
i bought it in 2012, now it's dying
ITT we're on XDA
Hey guys how do I root my S6?
Also what's a search bar?
>>57953144
Just use my toolkit bro ;)
I haven't tested it because I don't have an S6, but it should work. Don't forget to hit thanks! :D
how is babby formed?
but really, their users could at least try searching at least a bit before posting help threads for extremely common problems
Because Windows 10 sucks my Blue Yeti microphone no longer wants to work. Done my research and the only way to get it working again is basically do a clean sweep and reinstall of my computer, which is retarded for a plug n play.
What are some decent/good microphones I can use with my computer under $150?

>he doesn't save a fresh image of his C:/ drive when he's finished installing his OS and drivers.
What are you doing on /g/?
>>57953106
If you already have a yeti just buy an xlr cable and an interface and use it that way.
Honestly though, you fucked up a usb mic. Just accept that nobody wants to hear what you have to say.
ik this an unconventional way to show specs but w/e
can someone help tell me what I need to upgrade. My budget is ~$300
your wallet
Everything, including windows 8.1 to 7 or gentoo.
Can't upgrade much for $300
jesus christ fucking everything, but you'll probably see the biggest upgrade from increasing the amount of ram you have to like 8gb and investing in an SSD (since your rig is basically from 2004 I doubt you have one).
If your mobo can't support ddr3 you might as well just hold out until you save up like $500 (bare fucking minimum) so you can just get an entirely new computer
No retro thread? Haven't seen one in a couple days.

>internet browsers that used to run no problem on 512mb DDR1 RAM on my old shit machine I was still using as late as 2009 can't function on 2gb RAM on a small laptop I bought for producitivty anymore
What happened? Did W10 and the browers and webpages themselves start using tons more memory even though they're barely any fucking different from 2009 for all practical purposes? what's the point in Moore's Law if everything takes exponentially more memory to run shit that's almost no diffrent.
>he doesn't like bloated "UX" nonsense
>and the browser as a mini-OS
>I bet he also values raw content over "rich applications"
lol check out this luddite
browser use more ram because not using ram is basically just wasting it, and it's extremely cheap these days.
Having to pull data from the network or disk is orders of magnitude more latency than just keeping it in ram.
>>57952832
"Flat design" happened. Moore's law as far as CPU power increase is concerned is pretty much dead now. Pajeet devs happened who can't optimize for shit. Cunt execs happened who don't even want anyone to optimize anything but just stuff any gaps with more pajeets and, ir all else fails, rely on the cucked consumers to go out and buy moar RAM. So, yea.
>inb4 faggots who have 32 or even 64 gibs of RAM and "don't care"
They are obviously part of the problem too, see above. For as long as 32-bit dominated, the 3.5 GB limit kept shitty devs in check. Once 64-bit became widespread, the everlasting bullshit commenced.
n /csg/ we discuss the cheap shit you see on Gearbest, AliExpress, Banggood, eBay and similar sites.

can openrc run on arch hurd?
>>57952578
why would you run hurd?
>>57952612
from what I've learned it seems to have a lot of potential for being less prone to critical processing errors.
>The Hurd will be considerably more flexible and robust than generic Unix. Wherever possible, Unix kernel features have been moved into unprivileged space. Once there, anyone who desires can develop custom replacements for them. Users will be able to write and use their own file systems, their own `exec' servers, or their own network protocols if they like, all without disturbing other users.

It's actually a pretty good deal. Or you can wait a couple of hours and then continue using it for free.
I've only reached that limit once when I was transferring movies from one computer to the next because uploading and downloading to mega was actually faster than copying it to and from a USB storage device.
