hey /g/ tldr; I need to make a wireless deadbolt for my new room i'm subleasing in. I do not know any of my roommates and I just wanna protect my shit.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZkxLVRDyt4
Any other ideas? I can't fuck with the doorknobs and it's an old house.
>>58296561
why the hell do you need it to be wireless?
Any good locking device that is wireless will be cost prohibitive. Any thing that is inexpensive will be shit. Just get a normal keyed deadbolt.
>>58296599
>why the hell do you need it to be wireless?
Presumably so he can lock it when he's outside the fucking room...
Would it be too easy to have a normal door lock?
I've been wanting to get a Raspberry pi for a long while, but whats the point when I can get a used thin client for $10? Even still, should I wait until Pi 4?
Literally no context on what you want to use it for. Waiting forever to buy a $35 toy. Just fucking buy one and if it doesn't work you're not out a while lot of money.
Really depends what you're using it for.
A desktop shitposting machine?
Embedded shit?
TOR node?
If you have to decide between a 10$ computer and any other option you need to think to yourself of what 10$ means to you
even old c2d/p4/pd thin clients are going to outperform a rpi3
>>58296255
Sjw-pi.
Disgusting and pathetic.
REEEEE NETGEAR
Should I just Raid 6 it? Its 4*2tb disks
Fucking French nigger. If you want raid 6 on 4 disks, please go kill yourself. 2 redundant disks in a 4 disk system is pretty fucking stupid, but do whatever you baguette rating cunt.
>>58296644
wow anon, you're so edgy. I hope you keep this trait going into adulthood!

Can anyone link me a definitive setup tutorial for MPC? I followed an old guide and got some dropped frames. I'm running an Nvidia 1070.

>/g/ loves Linux
>they hate Nvidia and Intel
>Intel and Nvidia support Linux better than AMD
>/g/ constantly shills AMD
Why?
>>58295750
>>/g/ constantly shills AMD
Hard to tell who are the biggest shills anymore phám.
>>58295750
/g/ is mostly a testing ground for shill bots that will eventually be used on reddit anyway.
>nvidia and Intel support Linux better
No they don't. Linux supports nvidia and Intel better because it's more prevalent so users have a vested interest in making their shit work.
The disdain for nvidia and Intel here isn't because of Linux.

I'm looking to waste a scammer's time so they can't scam as many people by tricking them into downloading a virus. A link to any spyware or malware I can send them will be greatly appreciated.
P.S: I know I'm just a script kiddie, and I don't care.
>>58295553
have them log into a windows 2000 vm machine, old teamspeak clients will still work with it. Or have it log into some obscure linux distro
>>58295553
And why would the scammers go to a random suspicious link you give them? Nobody believes you anyway. Stop scamming people Pajeet, you don't even have the brains for it.
>>58295567
> have it log into some obscure linux distro
This. Or ReactOs.
Which countries are the most /g/-friendly?
Atm I live in the UK, but I don't like our Snooper's Charter one bit, and am probably going to move when I finish Uni next year. Just need to decide where.
Hong Kong for your cyber dystopia feels.
But in all seriousness you probably want somewhere like Iceland or Switzerland. Kind of interested to know myself. UK is a bit of a lost cause now May's in charge.
Come to Canada mate.
>>58295331
Isn't Canada a member of the Nine Eyes?
>>58295324
Great Firewall aside, how bad is China for privacy stuff?
>"f.lux is just a meme," they said
>>58295007
I used it and decided it is, especially after calibrating my monitor properly.
It also fucks with your monitor profiles, so if you have a calibrated monitor and you use f.lux then you can't trust your colors anymore even when you disable f.lux.
All you need to do is calibrate your monitor for around 100-120 cd/m^2 and f.lux becomes irrelevant.

I am done with MemeFox, this browser is a shit.
What is the better browser besides this?
>>58294688
Google Chrome and perhaps MS Edge. Botnets but you didn't ask for freedom.
There isn't. There's no such thing as a "better browser". They're all shit at varying degrees, you have to pick depending on how shitty you can tolerate them to be for different aspects.
Opera, it's like Chrome, but is better and don't have a botnet.
My parents (i dont live with them shut up senpai) have a 1st gen rear projection HDTV without hdmi. The device they usefor netflix is 480i and doesnt work 1/2 the time, and i noticed while visiting that my mom bitches at my dad whenever it doesn't. I wanted to get them a roku streaming stick plus, which has composite cables, but i cant find any hdmi to ypbpr converters that can work for the device, to avoid having a shitty output.
Does anyone know of an hdmi to rca converter thatll work for roku (no clue if a standard conversion cable will work, as it doesnt for fire tv sticks), or a lnother streaming device with hd rca?
>>58294650
Get a new tv and a chromecast
roku a shit
>>58294650
Buy them an android box instead
>>58295372
Seconded.
itt we remember 2016
Am i right in saying this board has gone to absolute shit? I don't browse as much anymore but it seems like it's just consumer threads and tech support these days.
I mean, the other day there was a "should I make a sex tape on my Mac" thread
>>58294476
This best part of year before /pol/ came.
Okay guys, give me your favorite IRC networks and channels.
Where do all the cool guys hang out these days?
Also who /xenn/ here?
>>58294465
It's kinda sad how over the years all my chans have died out
But freenode is where all the gnu/linux/opensource nerds hang out
Efnet is mostly garbage but longtime lurker of #electronics and #hardware
Espernet is where all the chiptune/tracker kids are at and some game dev chans
That's about it, besides that I have a handful of servers I use one or two chans on for whatever specfic purpose
>>58294465
Rizon for all of your Chinese cartoon needs.
>>58294520
Thanks for the input
I am mainly on freenode, and use rizon for weeb stuff.
It's a real shame that IRC is dying out, because all the alternatives are centralized and backed by a single company.
What's your favorite coding languages and why
C (Drivers, Libraries and shit)
C++ (Qt/Boost)
D (Newbie yet, but liking the language)
Lua (Script)
Free Pascal using Lazarus (RAD env with native look and feel... killer feature)
LabVIEW (Data Acquisition and Control Theory stuff)
Go because it makes threading (for me at least) actually fun
Also nice syntax
Python but I mostly use javascript because this world is fucked. I love nodejs honestly but I feel bad for using js.
