now testing fastmail, and i have to say it is the best interface and features i have seen in a while
>All the free ones are out if you don't want your data sold.
>All of the privacy related mail hosts have at least one downside each so far. (e.g. no custom domain, no DKIM/SPF/DMARC/etc, no IMAP/POP/SMTP, etc)
Currently with Fastmail until one of the privacy oriented ones get their shit together. According to the privacy agreement they shouldn't sell my data to advertisers.
Pro: web interface is better than Gmail, mail calendar and contact syncing works great with Android.
Con: it's hosted in the US.
Protonmail might be an option as soon as they support IMAP. They're working on it, but their support is very vague about the progress.
Cons: they paid ransom (under pressure of their investors), a lot of the JS encryption stuff is probably snakeoil.
Posteo seems like the most serious about their cause, but don't allow custom domains. (would require them to log more customer data due to laws)
Tutanota is like Protonmail, but only have a M$ Outlook extension, nothing for Thunderbird or any other open source client.
Kolab seems promising, but they lack reviews.

I don't, but every other time I've ordered, even on black friday, the balance was updated instantly. I even called the card company and they said there was no record of any charges made or being made.
I'd also guess they'd get the money BEFORE shipping

What do employees mean when they require you to have "knowledge of Linux"? Is being able to install Gentoo and rice your desktop good enough?
When they say "knowledge of linux" they mean being able to use bash commands
>>58304030
generally means bash and some familiarity with server distros (mainly CentOS and some Debian or SUSE)

hi /g/, i need some help
i recently bought pic related. it's great, i cant believe how fluid 144hz gaming feels like. my question regarding the monitor is this :
how do i enable Lightboost on it?
apparently, the monitor supports Lightboost, and i can see it in the monitor's menu, but when i try to select it, nothing happens.
i read around some forums, and some people say that the monitor already has Lightboost unlocked, and some say you need to activate it.
is there a way to test and see if the thing has lightboost on, and if not, how do i activate it?
i do want to specify that in games,or whenever there are moving images on the screen, the monitor seems to sharpen up the image a lot, i can clearly see shit happening. is that what Lightboost does,or is that some hidden monitor setting? hope you guys know more on the subject than me, and can give some tips. thanks
If it's anything like ULMB then it doesnt work work past 120Hz or with adaptive sync enabled.
>>58304176
that does not answer my question man. i switched to 120hz, but is till cant select the lightboost thing.

Google toastyx strobelight. I can't be bothered to google whether or not it will work for you.

so how bad is xiaomis privacy policy? i read it but it seems odd that even a themes app or a gallery app needs it, plus the gallery app needs access to contacts? odd...
could someone please recommend replacement apps for everything on a xiaomi phone (red mi note 3) that would require agreeing to the bonkers privacy and permissions.
also i quite like the way it's set up out of the box, but should i bother with rooting and custom roms? i mainly want gappsless device but i can just disable all gapps and crappy xiaomi apps
>>58304167
You can always deny permissions if you want, look in the security app it's fairly comprehensive. I'd imagine the gallery app requests access to contacts so that you can share images with them, it's nothing nefarious.

not an upgrade from Skylake, or even Haswell. Skylake faster in some benches.

>Everyone welcome Kaby Lake, the new "best" that's hard to get excited about
>>58303880
Pretty much the same as skylake with the exception it launched with the same price as the current one for skylake. It means we will all get cost reduction on the older processors , which considering they are pretty much the same as kaby lake , it's good. Overall the 7700k is just a polished version of the 6700K with with restrictive software (Optane for performance boost , voltage control , 4k Netflix etc...) . It means that the lower end of Ryzen is probably at risk now though , and the SR7 < becomes irrelevant when compared to intel kaby lake tech wise or skylake price wise because of the cost reduction. SR9 and Vega are the only ones who can save it now.
What are you working on, /g/?
