OP what the fuck are you doing?
>>
NUC + Razer Core (or any other eGPU solution with TB3) sounds nice.
>>
>>58304324
Hey those look like fantastic candidates for a hackintosh for my parents or a gaym computer for my cousin in Cuba.

Thanks OP for your autism
>>
are all i5 models of them suitable for hackintosh?
>>
Why have you not joined the Intel NUC Kaby Lake master race, /g/?
>>
I set up one of the sixth generation i5s for my grandmother. I guess the new processors generate a lot more heat since the case seems to have doubled in vents. I wonder why the power button was moved to the front though.
>>
>>58305255
because my shuttle XPC with a sandybridge i3 works just fine.

>Intel® Iris™ Plus Graphics 640
What can I expect from these for daily use/light gaming?
>>
>>58306621
I would suggest it can play games up to 2013 or so on medium/low settings

2011 and below and high/ultra

>>
>>58306621
I have Intel Graphics 4000 from 2012 and I can play LoL on low graphics fine (I get 130 FPS) on a 1080p resolution.

So, I imagine you can do a lot more with a 4K-ready iGPU.
>>
>>58306701
Meh, I'm looking for something compact to replace my old laptop (I pretty much use it as a desktop anyways), but it's only barely better than that: http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-Radeon-HD-7670M-vs-Intel-HD-630-Desktop-Kaby-Lake/m7810vsm178724

>>58306735
I can play GTA 5 in 1080p with mid-high settings currently.
>>
>>58304324
I used to have the Skullcanyon with Skylake i7.
Shit itself in under two weeks because Intel fucked up the power regulator and didn't bother informing their customers to update UEFI to fix it.
Luckily, it happened within 14 days so I could return it with no questions asked. I won't trust Intel ever again, though.
>>
>>58306657
deus ex human revolution (2011) on high/ultra on an intel gpu? It gets ~30 fps on 1080p medium with a 530.
>>
>>58304324
if it's over $300 I don't care
>>
>>58306804
probably

there are people who play skyrim on 530 now so yeah

and if you had to you could always set everything to medium but have textures at high/ultra so you don't have to compromise too much on looks
>>
>>58307042
i know that with decreasing shaders/light and AA quality you can get nice fps, but i got similar (maybe better) results with a gt9800/intel q8200 when dx:hr was released. I would not say that this is acceptable gaming performance desu.
>>
I see how these could be used for industrial needs and even office thin clients.

But 2bh they are really ugly to market to consumers. It's like they are not even trying. Why would you splash that plastic face on the aluminium case and two coloured USB ports?

Also, why is there no option for a slim i7 NUC without an extra bay for a SATA 2'5 drive? There are such options for both the i5 and i3 models.

I'd rather wait for the 2nd generation of the KYK kit.
>>
>>58305255

I like overpaying for dual-core "i5s"
>>
Finally. Been waiting for KL NUC's. Time to upgrade my host.

Because of the heat generated, I imagine. Extra literal headroom for throttling.

But yes, also looking forward to that one. I hope it won't be launched so late again.
>>
>>58306735
nice lying, shill. the 530 drops below 530 in LoL on low.
>>
Wow they finally put the power button in front.

Congrats Intel.

>>
>>58304324
It throttles like crazy.

It can do 100% CPU load for maybe like 10 seconds before it goes into 20% throttle for 30 minutes.
>>
considering these are cheap plastic computers with laptop components, barely any ports and heat issues, these are pretty shit. usually they are sold as barebones without ram and storage too. you are much better off building itx like >>58308059
>>
>>58304407

That's what I'm interested in. The new Akitio TB3 boxes are only $250 with a 400W PSU. You can do an RX480 build for around $1450 with a 960 Evo 500GB SSD and 16GB of RAM.
>>
>>58304519

I think it's product specific. Hackintoshes are super finicky about hardware. Gigabyte seems to have the best luck but only certain board revisions. There's a website that documents this but I can't remember it.
>>
>>58306701

He's talking about Iris Plus 640 which is about 15% or so faster than the HD 630.
>>
>>58308073
>>58307766

I'm on the KYK kit train as well. After doing some research and seeing that the new NUC i7 is still a dual core +HT setup, I'm not super eager to purchase.

Looking around (super briefly) it looks like the chunk of gen 6 came out in Jan-16 while the i7 4/8 KYK model came out around May-16.

I don't wanna wait though, I just want a shiny, small, upgraded homelab.
>>
>>58308079
What are you even talking about, I was talking about the performance of an older iGPU, Intel Graphics 4000.

>the 530 drops below 530

I can show you screenshots, if you like. I get above 100 FPS in LoL on low with a native 1080p resolution.

>NUC

I really wanted this to work out, I always did. Fuck their pricing though.

On the other hand, if this comes in a logical price (assuming you add up each component individually), I might consider it seriously.

>I was talking about the performance of an iGPU
The 530 is also an iGPU, and you are a liar
>>
Because my mini STX computer uses a desktop CPU and is cheaper.
>>
At work we use these for wearable VR apparatuses.
