Why do people still use this insecure OS? It's absolutely THE WORST in every category imaginable.

Except gaming.

Just an FYI that within 2 years, Microsoft will be killing Windows 10 Pro, and consolidate Windows to two versions: Windows 10 for Home, and Windows 10 for Business.

Windows 10 for Home will only come in OEM form, forcing you to buy a new computer, (or pirate it yes I know there will be ways around it and it doesn't matter since 99.9% of computer users won't do it), and Windows 10 for Business will exclusively be on a subscription basis.

Win10 for Home will continue to have caps on how much RAM your can have in your system, how many cores your CPU can have, you will not be able to join it to a domain environment, and you will only be able to install applications from the Windows Store.

Windows RT never died, they've been prepping the model to replace all home editions of Windows 10. In the Microsoft future, you either play in their walled garden in the Windows store, and if you're "some kind of power user who installs from random people's websites who even does that lol", then you'll need to buy Windows for Business.

Right now, Win10 Home caps you at 128GB RAM, and 256 cores. These seem large but they will not move for Win10 Home. With Threadripper and i9 finally starting to move the ball, Microsoft is preparing to let these become commonplace so they can control the speed at which the hardware market grows as well.

Why bother manufacturing 300 Core i9s or Threadrippers in five or so years when Microsoft won't let them run on Home computers? This is their model. They will control the industry.

convince me anyone who defends ms is not a shill
>>
>>62191960
windows 10 S is the locked down version of W10
they're not going to axe home & pro

MS is aiming to create an ecosystem to lock people into.

They are trying to do an Apple except it won't be half as good on the consumer side.

People will get all their apps on Windows and use Windows everything so they can't easily just swap and buy a Macbook or go to Linux anymore because they lose compatibility with all the shit.

Windows as a service is part of the slow frog boiling until you can't leave Microsoft products anymore. Right now they have the monopoly but their product is shit. Maybe they know they can't compete but if they clamp down their jaws down before people realize they will still keep the company going for a long time.
>>
>>62191992
Depends how you define shill:

1. Someone who is paid to promote a product.

2. Someone who promotes a product needlessly and in the face of evidence that the product is garbage.
>>
>>62191235
Becuase Linux has piss all support for video games and applications that need proper gpu acceleration like the adobe suite.
>>
>>62191960
300 core i9s in 5 years?
>>
>>62191960
so whats preventing people from pirating w pro, as is the tradition since forever
>>
>>62193746
even if you dont pirate pro, they're offering free pro upgrades to those who own 10 S for the time being
still wouldn't do it for clients I know are just going to fuck shit up

>>62192755
you can't easily switch from any of the 3 platforms easily these days why are you pinning the blame on microsoft lmao

Best for gaymen

Also that picture looks like you have to be using a sign in account, cortana and edge for all of that information to be accessed. Who does any of that?
>>
>>62194387
Oh and the apps, who uses apps?
I have 2 win10 PCs and a win10 laptop and the only app is Netflix on the laptop because it uses much less power than chrome. I couldn't care less if Bill Gates knows that I've rewatched IASIP 5 times
>>
>>62194020
>Everyone says majority of distros are botnet too.

>Ubuntu and Ubuntu forks
Botnet. See RMS's complaints about Ubuntu. Cannonical cannot be trusted.
>RHEL, Fedora and other red hat derivatives
Red Hat works with the NSA, so they can't be trusted.
>Debian
Libre kernel and full free main and contrib repos. Apart from systemd, it would be hard to call this a botnet.
>Gentoo, Funtoo
No systemd, option for libre kernel, option to blacklist all nonfree packes. Not botnet. It works pretty well for everything I've tried.
>Void, Slackware, BSD
No systemd. No idea otherwise.
>>
It's so shit, but I don't want to learn how to use Linux and I can't play games

I have pro, what would happen, would they downgrade me to home?

Is that a comparison? There is no reason to think that systemd is in any way a botnet.

burgers need to understand that the US ain't the only place. In the EU an OEM version of windows can be transferred as freely as a retail version and can be bought by anyone.

Diese Windows 10 Pro dient in erster Linie zur Vorinstallation auf neuen Computern des OEM-Partners, darf aber auch separat - also ohne PC - verkauft werden
>>
>>62195564
um then why is there a retail version?

because in burgerland you don't have the same rights as the EU.

how does that answer my question?

are you dumb? retail exist because in the USA and other lands you are only allowed to buy retail when buying windows separately from a PC.

of course only and idiot would buy windows when you cat get it free legally

EU might fuck up in a lot of areas but I'm majorly jealous of their consumer rights laws
>>
>>62191960 Win 10 will become obsolete sooner than such amounts of ram or cores become adopted even by 1% of users.
And people will find a way around this windows store walled garden.
So there is nothing new. MS is already controlling the industry. While home users don't give a shit about licenses.
