why are people on this board so obsessed with Apple vs Microsoft when it's been known for over a decade that the real war is picrelated
>>
>>62191199
this board is populated exclusively with autistic high-school aged anime shitters.
>>
>>62191199
They're both free?
>>
>>62191223
what does that have to do with it?
>>
The people arguing over Microsoft and Apple don't use or haven't heard of that war
>>
>>62191199
Because anyone who's actually competent enough to use a high functioning text editor knows that each has it's place. Emacs for projects, vi(m) for quick edits.
>>
Because this war has one option that's objectively better than the other
>>
>>62191199
war ended thanks to evil mode
>>
>>62191296
Indeed, vi is clearly the winner and has been for all not octopuses since its creation
>>
>>62191286
actually most of my coworkers over the years have used vim for working on project. in my city as least, vim is the most popular "project" text editor
>>
>>62191199
Everyone just uses the standard text editor, ed
>>
I use Emacs for
>writing my memoir
>writing html, c, learning other languages
>planning out projects
>editing any text file

I use Vim for
>nothing

Why is there even a debate here?

reeeetaaard shut up wannabe bitch ass
>>
>>62191199
Emacs people have some good points, but neovim blows both vim and emacs out of the water.

Nobody wants to read about all the times you've had unprotected anonymous gay sex.

I don't do that. I'm already saved and would never engage in the behavior of sodomites. Besides it's not really for the public. It's for my (great) grandchildren to see what was happening in the world and what the early part of the 21st century was like. Plus they can see what events of my life might have affected theirs.
