What's a good way to display graphics in a windows form?
Stop using Visual Basic. Please. If you're making a game, use Unity or something like that. For a desktop program use C# or C++ with QT.
>>61558757
Why Qt?
>>61558799
Closer to how Win32 works than GTK+. OP will be a bit more familiar with how it operates.
Who would go so far as to spend $800 on a CPU to not get the biggest and the greatest, but just a puny 12 core cut down version? Is 1920x the most pointless CPU ever made?
not as pointless as your existance op.
>>61558748
unwarranted rudeness
the AMD Geode existed tho
>be "software developer/engineer/programmer" a.k.a. code monkey or ITfaggot
>sit in the same area all day
>work & read on a screen all day
How does this sound enjoyable besides the inflated pay & benefits?
Honestly doing high-pay blue collar work sounds better desu
I enjoy building things. Programming is fun because I get to build cool things with it.
>>61558572
>work & read on a screen all day
>work
>all day
Sounds like a personal problem.
>Honestly doing high-pay blue collar work sounds better desu
desu~ it is. Good luck finding it.
OP, I don't think you've ever worked blue collar in your life.
>Dad owns multi-disciplinary contracting business, lots of money
>Lets me work for him on occasion
>Set out to do a job at a submarine manufacturing facility
>Small job, he doesn't need to take any of his other employees
>90+ degrees out in the summer, entire facility is locked, just the two of us
>Job is to cut off a massive amount of iron beams off the ceiling in a rotomolding area
>The room is like 110 degrees because they melt plastic and shit in there
>Spend 8 hours indoors wearing a fucking full-body protective garment
>Cutting multiple 150 lb+ iron beams and bring them down slowly without killing yourself
>It actually hurts to do this
>By the end of it my body is covered in soot, I'm sweaty and exhausted
>300$
I don't know man you fucking tell me. You realize that as you get older, the body can't maintain doing such intensive work? I know guys that work in construction that have outright committed suicide, because they were old and they were stuck doing it, their body couldn't maintain it any longer.
Does anyone know of a secure hosting provider that supports FreeBSD or OpenBSD?
>>61558571
digital ocean has freebsd but not openbsd. Not many providers have openbsd.
>>61558571
You should be looking for something with root access, stupid frog poster.

She must be first of her kind to ever born on this planet.
Because being poor, girl and having hands to code is so unique.

>>61558286
What is the advantage of a distro I will have to spend hours to setup and figure out how to work with?
I converted all my MP3's to FLAC and they sound way fucking better now.
Holy shit, why haven't I don't this before?
Thank you /g/ - Technology.
Good job. Happy for you, anon. Enjoy. :)

>install firefox
>faster than chrome ootb
>ugly grey color on windows 10
>add ublock origin, decentraleyes, and greasemonkey
>becomes slower than chrome
>no smooth scrolling which even edge literally has
>uses as much ram as chrome and three times as much as edge
so this is what you guys like? an ugly, slow, bloated browser.
>m-muh ricing
I was gonna say Chrome is a botnet, but you use Win10 anyway so no difference.
Use chromium
>>61558109
>”Instal Firefox”
>”Faster than Chrome ootb”

Aren't you excited for the Internet of Things?
>>61558050
Where can I buy one? I'd like to give it my neighborhood.
>>61558050
>internet of things
What is this suppose to mean, exactly? It just seems like some meaningless buzzword used to signal.
>>61558186
You're a fucking retard. I understand that it's summer and you came here and trying to fit in, but you're doing it wrong kid. Go back to Plebbit.
Can /g/ recommend me the best ultrabook for light usage?
Considering used and new notebooks.
Main usage will be surfing, skyping on the go. Mobility, long battery and good keyboard/trackpad is a must.
Is my best option for ca. 500 bucks still a (used) macbook air?

Where to buy cheap PCBs for prototyping, every time I see someone talk about laser printer home made PCBs someone says to just get em from China.
What website does /g/ recommend? Need UK delivery.
>>61557817
What exactly are you trying to do? Is it this:
http://www.instructables.com/id/PCB-etching-using-laser-printer/
It which case you buy single sided copper board from Maplins:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/203x102mm-srbp-single-sided-pcb-board-hx00a#
>>61557817
>>61558287
Also, best of luck getting answers here. /g/ really doesn't know much about hardware.
>>61558305
lol well lucky day for OP, I don't usually browse this shithole of a board
>>61557817
you can get them pretty cheap from Seeedstudio, but that's usually more for production or late prototyping, if you want to prototype or just fuck around I'd suggest etching your own boards as >>61558287 suggested since Seeedstudio are chinks and shit from chinkna takes long to arrive
also please for the love of god don't buy from Maplin, use Farnell or Mouser or Digikey, it will be much chaeaper when it comes to components and usually better quality too
what you making op?
