So /fit/, supplements. Whats worth taking? atm im taking whey protein, creatine, l-glutamine, multivitamin, bcaa and fish-oil. My goal is a aesthetic physique.
13 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
the benefits of l-glutamine and bcaa's are questionable. multis won't help you attain an aesthetic physique, and if you otherwise eat healthy they won't do shit.
>>
>>35464119
So multivitamins are not really worth it and so is the bcaa's and glutamine?
>>
>>35464161
you should read up on those yourself.

multis can be useful if your diet is lacking.

bcaas haven't been studied enough. we simply don't know yet. if you plan to take them then at least learn what they're supposed to do and how. if you take them with your regular protein it's 100% a waste, that much is clear.

I don't know all that much about glutamine, honestly.

maybe look into beta-alanine.

>Who here squats with a belt?

At what weight did you start?
At what body weight were you?
What's your squat now?

If you use a belt and you don't squat at least 2x body weight, why is it you choose to use a crutch instead of strengthening your core?

You are gonna get hurt? Take it slower and don't ego lift. Strengthen core. And don't give one word answers then walk out the room like you just schooled everyone and you are gonna let them wallow in your intelligence. You won't get hurt squatting say 185 unless you flay our a tard with tard form rushing it.
>>
>>35463902
I'm at 160 and can do 315 for a double and have yet to even consider a belt. Though I squat atg highbar so take that as you will.

Does anyone have any GOOD workouts that don't involve weight training, but aren't a poor man's bodyweight exercise substitute?

Time is getting harder to come by these days and my motivation for lifting is really going down the toilet. I've noticed that, with half-assed enthusiasm squats and deadlifts, I'm starting to hurt myself more than help myself. So, I'm hoping to find a workout that involves any mixture of plyometrics, cardio and other means of losing weight and not looking like a stick figure outside of lifting weights up.

The only things I've found on my own consist of barbell complexes and conditioning workouts that seem to be specifically as a supplement to weightlifting, not really a standalone exercise. Barbell complexes sound about perfect, but I'm hesitant to do them as I'm concerned I'll just be cheating myself out of good exercise by just doing that. I'm hoping some of you may have experience or knowledge with programs that you could share. I'm not really looking to be Big Guy anymore.

learn how to do the compound movements correctly instead of looking for the easy way out. squats, deadlifts and bench press will do more for you than anything else could in the same time frame.

SO. I'm about to begin a weightloss journey. I wanted to ask here before I begin; are there any workout routines you can recommend for me for while I'm losing weight so I don't just become skinny fat? I'm planning on cutting pretty hard (not anorexic, but I do have enough will power to follow through with the cut, as I have in the past), and I just really really really want to stay toned so I don't get gross and flabby and old looking when I'm thin. Any tips/personal routines you can recommend? I was just planning on running a lot, but I'm not sure that's enough to keep me nicely toned. I don't have any equipment other than two 3lb dumbell weights (they're not even mine- they just came with the room I'm staying in???), so preferably things I can do on my own or with household items.
I'm 5'4.5", 172lbs (but with muscle, so I'm not just super fat... I've been called thick many many times, but don't have the confidence to say outright that "I'M THICK"), 19, and a female. Please help?
will not post pics of myself because I really just want help with picking a good routine, not attention.

Sticky. Read it.
>>
>>35463605
I have, it doesn't have anything about toning during a really large cut. I'm not trying to gain muscle mass, just retain it. Sticky doesn't have anything and its bullshit anyway
have YOU read the sticky anon?
>>
>>35463605
anyway, I don't need diet or exercise advice, just a suggestion for a routine suitable for my specific goals and needs.

It's six o'clock on a Saturday
The regular crowd shuffles in
There's a kid on SS lifting next to me
Obviously pretty new to the gym
He says, "Sir can you help me get bigger arms
I'm not really sure what to do
But if someone knows bis, their delts and their tris
Well it sure as hell’s probably you"

La la la, di da da
La la, di da da da dum

Get us some gains, Rich Piana man
Get us some gains tonight
Well, we're all in the mood to be makin’ it
And you've got our tris feeling tight

Now Chunk at the gym is a friend of mine
He spots all my lifts for free
And he can’t wait for new years to come around
When the gym is chock full of normies
He says, "Anon, I believe this is crushing me."
As his set slowed down to a rest
"Well I'm sure that this could be my new 1 rep max
If I could get it off my chest"

Oh, la la la, di da da
La la, di da da da dum

Now scoobs is a serious bodybuilder
Who’s body looks sharp as a knife
And he’s speaking to Jason, who eats too much bacon
And is probably dadbod for life
And the mothers are practicing cardio
As the new year fags try to get ‘toned’
They’re leaving the freeweights all over the place
But it's better than sitting at home
Get us some gains, Rich Piana man
Get us some gains tonight
Well we're all in the mood to be makin’ it
And you got our tris feeling tight
It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday
And the Chunk just gives me a grin
'Cause he knows as of late normies just wanna lose weight
And that’s how Chunk’s income rolls in
And the preworkout smells like a lollipop
And the crowd sees me squat with a cheer
And I set down the bar and record my PR
And say, "Guys, why are you even here?"

Oh, la la la, di da da
La la, di da da da dum

Get us some gains, Rich Piana man
Get us some gains tonight
Well, we're all in the mood to be makin’ it
And you've got our tris feeling tight

This thread is for all the new lifters reading /fit/. A lot of you probably are getting brainwashed into the idea that you have to be "hardcore" to succeed at lifting and that the best way to get big is to do a high-intensity, high-frequency, high-volume routine. That kind of thing works for a time, but you're going to damage yourself. Nearly all good powerlifters above age 22-25 or so have many injuries and view surgery as something routine. If you follow a hardcore routine, you're sacrificing your lifting ability a few years down the line for faster short-term gains.

My story: When I first started lifting, I got into /fit/, powerlifting stuff, the chaos and pain blog, etc. I lifted like a madman, slept massively, ate huge amounts of food and was still dropping fat, etc. The result was me going from 0 strength and no athletic background growing up to a 285lb bench, 405lb squat, 550lb deadlift, and 200lb press inside of a year at 200lb. But inside of 18 months of starting, I was too fucked up to keep lifting. I had to quit for over a year and spend months rehabbing my shoulders, knees, wrist, and low back with bands and 5lb dumbbells. Even today, the only stuff I can do in the gym without issue is low-weight pump stuff with extremely strict form. I'm never going to press or deadlift again. If you choose to do low-rep sets, heavy singles, a "hardcore" compounds-only routine, etc. this is likely what's going to happen to you.

Best regards

(pic unrelated) I started at 141lbs (5'6) in the summer of 2014, and I lost the first 20lbs by wintertime by not drinking soda, eating less, and hiking as often as possible. I started feeling reasonably good about myself at that point, but I still couldn't enjoy looking at myself in the mirror so I got myself a gym membership a few months ago and I've been going a few times a week. I managed to get down to 106lbs but I still can't look at myself in the mirror without disgust. I look like a nutsack. What the fuck do

It's probably an irrational thought but last night I was up all night sick. I was throwing up a lot and my stomach was cramped really bad. Now today my stomach so hurts and I have no appetite. I'm going 28 hours without eating anything. Will I lose some of my gains from this or am I being irrational?

It takes way longer to loose gains, but you might feel weak for up to a week. Try to eat as much as possible. Chicken soup is your friend.

you´ll feel weak but probably ´cause you´re getting dehydrated. It takes around 3 weeks, if experienced, to loose gains bro(according to discovery channel). Drink some Gatorade and you´ll be fine
