>Be 19
>Joining Air Force through ROTC to become an officer
>Been athlete my whole life, pretty good shape but I'm a starving skeleton
>Barely above the Air Force requirement of "minimum weight"
>Get medically tested with a DoDMERB (Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board)
>Heart is racing at appointment
>Never noticed that before
>He asks if I have any history with heart racing and I say no and that no doctor has ever brought up my heart rate
>Rights it off as me just being nervous and I pass my DoDMERB
>A year later and my heart rate is still pretty high most of the time (around 80-90 beats per minute usually, sometimes 100+ when I start getting nervous about my heart being unhealthy)
>Notice it gets higher when I am paying attention to it
>Still play multiple sports and run a 5:07 mile last time I tracked it

How unhealthy is it that my heart rate is like this? Does it matter if I am in shape and workout a lot?

Also, ever since I started coming to this board I've been wanting to put on weight since I am so thin. Will the extra weight from a successful bulk slow my heart rate down to healthy BPM?

Sorry if this is annoying but I'm pretty scared about my heart and if I get formally diagnosed with something from a doctor then I will likely get kicked from the Air Force. That's why I'm coming to you guys

writes it off* please don't make fun of me I'm not an idiot

Also idk if It's important but I'm 5 foot 10 inches and 132 pounds
>>
you don't know what your problem is so how are you even going to fix it?

you believe your heart rate is higher than average, but you haven't had any tests done. heart rates can fluctuate due to a myriad of reasons. you can't solve a problem without first knowing what is causing the problem. stop wasting everyone's time and delete this thread
>>
I dunno, I'm in the same situation, with my BPM usually 110+ even at rest. My dentist has been complaining about it, so I'm planning on asking my doctor the next time I go in for a physical.

Also, if you put on weight, make sure you do cardio while you do it. Putting on 50 pounds either as fat, or muscle makes no difference to your heart. If you don't do cardio while putting on weight, you'll have a weak heart, trying to supply a heavier body, and that's no good. I fell for the no cardio meme when I put on 70 pounds, and I regret it every day. I'm getting it caught up nicely, though.

Went too heavy on squats on wednesday, skipped friday, legs still feel funny so I think I have a minor injury.

I'm on starting strength

How long should I wait, or should I wait at all before doing squats again?

I read in some article that even a minor injury means 2 weeks of rest

I believe they do a lot of pushups chin ups and run a lot so you'll probably be good if you can do that a lot
>>
>>36360508
If it's anything like the British Army you will need to run a lot, especially one to five mile distances. Upper body strength is also really helpful. As a non-fitness aside, get good at waking up early and operating on very little sleep.

I started running again recently after a few years of just lifting. It feels great, I love how sharp my vision feels when I'm done, it kind of reminds me of a light version of doing shrooms.

I also noticed my lifting improved a bit, I'm guess my heart and lungs are able to keep up a bit better and I'm not getting gassed as easily.

I was sitting in front of my pc one day and I decided I wasn't happy with being an aushwitz skeleton

I was 23 back then, the next day I joined my local gym

This was in the middle of summer

That's it

Nobody pushed me, nobody motivated me, I just decided I wanted a better body
>>
>>36360000
Me and one of my friends agreed one day it was a good idea to start lifting and would probably be fun. We continued for a few months, and then all within the span of a couple weeks, a girl felt up my arms, another girl told me I was "soooo strong", and a dudebro told me I had nice arms. And that was pretty much it for me, I had to keep going.

>sorry for screenshot pic,to lazy to deal with my phones bs saving shit.

okay so. i wanna join the army.
and i wanna get fit. but honestly i dont know what boot camp and all of the exercise shit is like.

so im a female, 5'5, 150 pounds.
i can lift 110pounds. and i run/walk til i burn 500 calories. a day. (i started doing this last week)

my endurance isnt the greatest. i can run half a mile at a time. and after awhile my ankles hurt like a bitch.

ive been eating 1500 calories a day at the most. i eat fairly healthy alot of fish and chicken and veggies.

so whats the army like. think ill be able to keep up?
i say i have about 6 months time to prepare.

and what would be a good exercise routine?

Basic training is a breeze. I graduated from Fort Jackson last Summer which is probably the least physically strenuous place you can be sent. Even if you're not fit they'll make you fit, but if you want to stand out and be a PT stud you just need to do the basics. Try doing 100 push ups on one, 100 situps on the next day, and run 3 miles on the third day. That should get you in solid shape.
>>36359869
Don't listen to this guy. I have no idea what tactical barbell 2 is but everything you do at Basic Training is going to be bodyweight stuff and the best way to get good at bodyweight stuff is (big surprise) doing bodyweight exercises not barbell exercises. From a quick google it looks like tactical barbell is some gimmicky workout book marketed to civilians who want to be BADASS AIRBORNE NAVY SEAL FOXHOUND PURPLE BERET OPERATORS. Don't waste your time on that bullshit, just practice the shit you'll actually be tested on.
