Hey fit, been lifting 3-4 times per week for 15 months now. Since I started as a skelly, at first I didn't do much cardio, but in recent months I got into running a lot more. Now I need some help from my running bros.

I want to run a half-marathon in September. Currently I run about 5k, 3 times per week. The most I've ever run is about 8k, and I estimate my current maximum to be around 10k if I really go all out.

I'm 180cm, 78kg (started lifting at 69kg last year).

Most half-marathon training programs online have you training about 4 times a week, switching between intervals, slow runs etc.

My question to you is, what's the optimal half-marathon preparation program while lifting heavy weights 3 times per week?

My thinking was to lift 3x per week and run 3x per week, with the sole rest day coming after leg day.

Any advice? Programs? Experiences?

tl;dr How to prepare for half marathon in 3 months while maintaining my 3x per week lifting program and not losing my gains.

If you have a goal to run a marathon, prioritize that and let your heavy lifting take a backseat (that doesn't mean don't lift).
I would probably also drop leg work except squats and deads and only do those once a week each.

But if you're going to get good at marathon running your lifts will suffer a bit I'm sure

Half-marathon, not marathon. Should it really be that demanding, since I'm half-way there already?

I realize that some sacrifices will have to be made, I'm looking for the optimal lifting VS running ratio to at least maintain my mass while increasing my run distance. I'm content to not gain any new mass over the summer.

I've been trying to change my "bulking diet" to a better cleaner one.
For the most part of the diet I used a custom meal planner thing that scooby has on his website. And it's pretty great, but one thing bother me, it tell me to eat about 800g-1.5kg of vegetables a day. Do I really need this much vegetables, can I cut that amount to like 400g or so and just substitute with shit like brown rice, oats and etc.

Are properly used steroids dangerous in any real capacity? It doesn't make any sense that roiding is so taboo to the general populous. If you're going to eat right, lift, sleep, ect, for gains, than why would you not roid other than merit of them being "too" effective? So why is roid used a fucking insult?

It's like seeing in a videogame or comic where augmented people or mutants or whatever are shunned for being too cool and what everyone wants to be basically, and you think, there's no people would be like that if these guys where real!

Because being big is about showing dedication, sacrifice, fortitude, and is only limited by what you can learn about yourself. Do you think the years of planned meals, studied routines, and tempered emotions DON'T have as much of an effect as the massive gains you see bodybuilders displaying? Gear is just a shortcut to all that, you get the results but emotionally you end up being stunted. It's dangerous because it creates role models who do not have any real moral values. I can't lie and tell you that I don't admire the science behind the steroids, testing the furthest limits that you body can achieve, but it just hurts the entire community. It's as bad as ecstasy, YES your body is supposed to be euphoric, YES your body is supposed to be swole, but you don't just get it from popping a pill or sticking a needle in your ass. You need to work for it, this is what the older generation talks about when they say something is "rotting your brain".

If you were a girl, what would your routine be?

I'll get us started: I would do barbell squats and deadlifts a few times per week while eating 2,500 kcals per day. After six months to a year, I would cut for a few months.

I'm looking for specific vitamins or supplements I can take to help improve my memory/concentration. I feel kind of spaced out sometimes and I forget small things constantly but I can remember important events for an ungodly amount of time.

What's your thoughts on squatting 2 times a week?

I am thinking about training legs 2 times a week and doing squats in both sessions. I already do heavy squats Wednesdays and thinking about working up to my 1 RM Sundays?

Would this be too much?

Currently Wednesday is my only lower body session centred around dead lift / squats.
Squats are 120kg 5x5 (265 lb)
deadlift is 140kg 5x5 (208 lb)

I have more time to train so going Sundays and thinking of adding leg press, leg curl, lunges but also throwing squats in.

Elite weightlifters squat 10+ times a week you buffoon, of course 2 times isn't too much.

That said, working up to a 1RM on a regular basis is stupid as fuck. 1RMs test strength, they don't build it. Even if maximal strength is the goal, stick to doubles or tripples, and don't go all-out on these sets.

so last friday I was doing OHP when during the last rep something went *crack* inside of me, more or less on the height of my sternum. I put the barbell on a rack and felt a very unpleasant kind of pain in the area I highlighted on a related pic. It hurts mostly when I lean my head forward/backward or turn it to the side. Other movements may cause a minor pain too, but it's not that bad when i keep my head stable. It got a little bit better since Friday, but it still sucks. Anyone has gotten this kind of injury before?

Sounds like literally the same thing I had once. I felt the pain instantly and it hurt to tilt my head in any direction. It went away after a couple of days though. I just make sure I focus on really good form when I do OHP now and I've been fine.

Sounds like you compressed a disk/vertibrae a little. You should do stretches for your spine and decompress it for a week and then go back to working out and check how it feels. And if you're in the position that causes that to happen, you're doing standing incline chest press rather than OHP. Basically more weight than you should be doing for your current core strength.
