Greetings /fit/. Once again I find myself in a hiatus from the gym. I've been inconsistently lifting for years. Making little to no gains because of it. Give me some motivational stories/videos/pictures and maybe tell me what drives you to be consistent.

Maybe you should just give up, and start something else. To be honest, hitting the gym is pretty boring by itself compared to doing sports and training in the gym for them. When you start doing some small local competitions, you start to get hungry for progression because you want to be better than those that beat you.
You probably have lots of motivation towards gym if you are insecure and hate yourself, want to look so much better and be more confident. Or if you do powerlifting or bodybuilding for competition.
But you shouldn't ask motivation to do some barbell curls in front of a mirror so you stacy asked you out, that's just sad.
Exercise is like brushing your teeth. Brushing your teeth is basic hygiene that prevents disease.

I have this weird desire to lift for a couple of weeks and then I take some weeks off because I suddenly lack motivation out of nowhere.
I have no interest in sports (perhaps oly lifting which might be a stretch). I lift strictly for myself, which is the only reason I leave my house apart from my part time job. I have no intention of becoming fit for social image, women or even my health. Lifting is simply something I enjoy at an almost spiritual level. The cycle of work>progress>results is what drives me, but that drive gets lost at times. Some days i'll be in the gym struggling to lift the same weights I lifted 5 years ago and I just get the feeling that i'm running in a hamster wheel. Hopefully i'll get my shit together one day. I've been there; theres nothing you can do. I just scraped through a drug test earlier this year and for a week I was shitting bricks until I got my results. Didn't smoke weed for 6 months and then binged it for 7 days while off work on holiday; had 3 weeks and then had a random urine drug test.

It usually takes 30 days for THC to flush out of your body and usually longer depending how frequently you consume cannabis and if you have a higher bodyfat percentage.
