I started off barely doing 5 with 60lbs assistance, and now can do about 15 with 40lbs assistance (lowest possible on the machine I use). naturally, when I got to about 10, I tried doing unassisted, but I feel like my form gets bad.
should I keep doing bad form unassisted and attempt to correct myself? or should I work up to 20 assisted with good form?
specific problems with my form:

or you could wait and build more strenght/lose weight and do the unassisted. you're not really missing out on much gains by skipping them for a couple of months, and it should take you more than that to be able to do dips if you're either a fat fuck with decent strength or a newbie who needs to build more strength. i took my time on most lifts and i think it was better for me in the long run
