Was 'roundabout a fortnight upon the Fitness Photographic Review Bulletin that it calibrated betwixt me ear-holes that what those Yank chaps call a "squat" is nothing more than an old-fashioned dipsy-do.

i kill my back at deadlift, so i can't bent over row in the same day, but i can use that machine.

Hey /fit/, /g/entleman here.
I used to lurk, but then I got into muh gayming and other /g/ shit. Stopped working out and got fat again. I started my diet this morning, and I'm getting shit back on track, gonna start running in my neighborhood again etc.
My questions for you are.
>Is /fit/ tech savvy?
>If so, what tech do you use?
>And most importantly, do you think tech is a bad thing? As in, do you think shit like gayming is unhealthy?
I've realized I spend almost every waking minute in front of my massive gayming rig I built, and I rarely go outside or socialize with people. Even my family and the few friends I have say stuff like "hey good to see you getting out of your cave" when they see me.
Some have said it's all about balance, but now I feel like being a tech enthusiast/ gaymer is an inherently unhealthy hobby. I'm afraid I might relapse into my old ways of being a hermit tech wizard. I feel like I should sell this shit, get the bare essential tech like a laptop, phone, fitness tracker, and maybe a tv so I'll only watch movies during downtime instead of playing muh gaymes constantly.
>TL;dr what to do about my "techie" lifestyle?
Thanks Bros
Just take up a sport or two bro. Soccer is great.
Go somewhere where you can do sports with people. You'll make new friends.
Martial arts, soccer clubs, etc.
>is /fit/ tech savvy
no more than /v/ is for operating steam
>what tech do you use
snapchat and dating apps (unsuccessfully)
>do you think tech is a bad thing
what kind of idiot thinks tech is a bad thing
>do you think shit like gayming is unhealthy
it's a slippery slope to unhealthy habits but not inherently unhealthy
>what do to about my "techie" lifestyle
lift things up and put them down
you also sound like a huge underage faggot for using words like techie and gaymin rig
Go back to your own board, dork.

So in my gym the lowest weight I can access is 1.25kg. 2.5 kg jumps in bench, press etc are a bit tough at this point. Would I be better off manipulating sets and reps or investing in micro plates?
Buy some micros.. 20 bucks on Amazon for good oned
>>41636806
how long do you rest between sets?
>>41636822
1 min typically. If I'm feeling fatigued I'd stretch to a min and a half.
I never spend any time on /fit/, I don't know the jargon. I'm looking for a routine that would improve my fencing, explosive power and speed, over just weight strength, if I understand correctly. If anyone could help or set me on the right direction.
I also have a cardio footwork plan that I do daily and I bike regularly.
>>41636800
seek specialist help. I suppose you don't wanna ruin your mobility and light footedness.
>>41636800
Honestly, I do a regular hypertrophy workout and it has helped wonders.
Just the other day, after beating my team mates, they were like, 'did you work on your technique?' and I told them I've been practising it. Well, I didn't do shit except lift weights. Gotta get into their heads, you know?
The only thing I don't understand is how top fencers are still so skinny. I guess there's a point of diminishing returns somewhere... Fortunately, I have plenty of muscle yet to build before it will affect me negatively.
There's a fat dude at my gym that benches 330 for reps.
Just looks like a typical fat dude. Cool guy, but yeah, just looks like your average fat dude off the street.
Any reason for this in particular? He reps it out like 15 times like its nothing, I would have expected someone at that level of strength to be at least muscular looking, not just like some average fat guy off the street.
>>41636721
Strongest guy in my gym looks like a regular fatass, seen the guy deadlift 7pl8. Obviously he has insane muscle mass under his vast rolls
>>41636721
He has high body fat, nothing more to it.

Can someone explain volume training for a fellow powerlifter? How do you progress?
increasing reps/better form
example: if u do 4x8 do 4x10 when u can do that go to 4x12
>>41636447
Better form isn't progress, its learning
>>41636440
More sets at RPE >=8, can be done by increasing frequency (see: Norwegian powerlifting) or by simply increasing number of weekly sets/lifts (see Sheiko).
Something like Bulgarian or what >>41636447 outlines is actually fairly low volume and will not provide enough stimulus to increase muscle and strength.
Hey my dudes.
I've been doing stronglifts so far, but I have a lot of free time on my hands and want to increase the days I workout to 6 instead of each other day.
I have a bench (pic related) that you can adjust the angle on, a barbell and loads of weight.
Do you guys know any good splits that cover the whole body with only a barbell?
>>41636319
bump
You can do this, but you probably don't have the work capacity to do this, frequent "maxing" like on most beginner programs is your best bet for rapid improvement, as high frequency programming requires careful management of fatigue.
>>41636489
alright man, ill take that into consideration, thanks!
