Back in 2013 I played in a music festival with my high school, so naturally I decided to put the poster in my dorm room when I went to college this year. The problem is I blacked out one night, and the poster is now covered in my vomit (too lazy to put in a frame). Its been in my closet for the last two months, and I want to clean it up before my parents visit next month. I looked into poster restoration, and the cost is too much, and not a huge amount is out there on diy poster cleaning. Anyone ever dealt with this kind of thing? What can I do to clean this shit up?
Pic related- the worst of the puke stains
Will continue to post progress on the cleaning

Forget about it. You have already shown you are to too lazy to have cleaned it in the first place and you neglected to frame it so just throw it away and count it as a loss for your night of inebriation.

whats up /diy/ I just took the plunge and bought ~.14 acres in some wooded hills about 2.5 hours from my current living space.

Future projects in rough order of priority:
+Flag land boundaries & construct trail along a paper road
+Construct a roofed storage area for equipment and supplies
+Set up a ground platform for my canvas tent (10x12 wall tent)
+build or find a hammock mount and shelving for within the tent
+build a solar system 200 Ah battery, ~250 Watts total in solar panels. Charge Controller and Inverter selected for future input/storage doubling
+Build a small treehouse, high enough to be dangerous - lots of tall conifers on the property
+Dig a larger subterranean cottage - property borders a ridgeline with a nice slope on most of the prop.

I have the money to accomplish almost all of this immediately but main constraints are going to be time and weather. I can't drive down more than twice a month or so, and the wetness of winter rn is going to inhibit any serious ground work and generally make anything slower. Adding to logistical complication is a lack of direct road access and the lack of a truck for hauling supplies.

What i am specifically curious to hear about most are the best places for cheap or free construction materials. Specifically:
fiberglass or plastic ridged roofing
lumber
cement
solar panels
hand wagon

Been checking craigslist of course but curious if anyone else has experience looking for this kinda stuff

In Lue of a wagon or hand cart get a riding mower if u can. Old just mowers and 4 wheelers are common in America and u can just torch an axle off and make a $1,000 yard cart from lowes.

You will want Trojan t-105 6 volt batteries likely in a 12 or 24 volt setup for your panels. I think 2 would be 220ah at 12 volts for $200. It's not a lot but u sound motivated. After u get your house u can run power or upgrade panels and wind power as you go. Be sure and check the DISTILLED water level of you batteries monthly. Should last a good 5-8 years with proper care. Extreme heat and cold are bad on them. Id say bury them if u can keep water out.

If u in the states look into these rent to own cucksheds. U may be able to skip the tent bullshit.

Get a ball hitch welded on your car and get a shitty trailer off fb or cl. Almost as good as a truck.

Goodluck!

Knowing your location would really help

>have long-haired dog with skin problems

I'm drowning in dust. Every time I touch something it's like a tornado of hives and itchy noses

What can I do about it?
My central air system already has an air filter but it doesn't do much for the dust that's already in my room

I've already considered/done
>cleaning more often (but it builds up so fast so as to be impractical)
>Moving electronics (can't move them)
>Brushing dog more often (doesn't help much)
>shaving dog (do this every few months)

But I have an idea: buying one of those cut-it-yourself air filters and strapping it to the back of a small fan.
I'm just worried that it'll move so little air so as to be negligible. It's like a 10-12 inch diameter fan, not sure about the ft3/m rating, but I'm sure the air filter will slow it down a bit

>TL;DR how cheap a torch can I use and it still works for silver, and, eventually, platinum?

I'm an aspiring silversmith with an affinity for rings. I need a heat source to melt the silver for casting, usually a blowtorch.

My problem is they're expensive as fuck, around $700 after the tanks and the regulators, etc, etc, for a 2 gas system. I like the Hoke oxygen/acetylene torch setup, since I can use it for platinum as well.

A possible solution is this cheap, $70 oxygen/MAPP torch, from the same company that makes the Bernz O Matic air/butane torches (pic related). I'm pretty confident that it will burn hot enough for silver casting, but what about platinum?

I'm willing to spend around $250 for an oxy/acetylene torch setup that won't explode and will melt platinum alloy if possible. But that includes tanks, which is my problem.

ALSO it's important to state that I'm planning on using gravity casting, not centrifugal casting. Which could mean I will need a hotter torch than normal?

Hello, my Sony Bravia 55in 4k tv just started having this line in the middle of the screen and a little fade in the bottom right hand corner.

Any suggestions on a fix? My research tells me just to buy a new one but I can't do that.

Any thoughts?

I plan to remove the tiles in my house, over 200sq meters of tile and i have a few questions

Is a tile chisle and mallet my best toolset?

How likely is it to chip or otherwise damage the cement (?) theyre glued to?

Is scraping with the electronic scraper the best way to remove the glue? Should i use a buffer polisher afterwards?

IMPORTANT question: where do i start from if my carpet has this metal divider thing where the tile starts?

How do i remove wall tiles without damaging the wall?

Cheers

What is the wall made of?
Concrete, drywall, some type of wood?

Brick with that white stuff over it (dry wall?). I think theres a thin layer of concrete between the brick and white stuff.

SDS rotary hammer with a broad chisel or flexible chisel will pop the tiles off like they weren't even stuck down.

you can't avoid damaging the wall, so don't try. plastering a wall is hard work but not complicated or expensive.

Any recommendation for steel toed boots for chainsawing and lugging around heavy wood?

Would be nice if they're not too slippery since the area of operation has a lot of moisture and it's rocky.

I'm pretty faithful to Timberwood and CAT, but I'm open to more suggestions, price range up to €150.
And since I'm situated in the EU I'm not gonna see US-only boots here, so something from the European Amazon would be preferable.

Thanks.

To me, a manly job is one that woman can't do or are generally unwilling to do. It should also be useful even during or after a crisis.

As far as entry level jobs that fit these criteria, I can think of construction worker and farmer. Military doesn't count because I don't want to die for Israel.

Any other good entry-level jobs? Also, what are some good cities to go to for construction or farming jobs? I currently live in Washington DC.

If you can't do every aspect of a build (drivetrains, chassis/suspensions, body/paint AND interior), then you're just a mechanic or welder or painter. Not a builder.

I have been wanting to make an aluminum foundry and casting aluminum parts, but I see some articles saying aluminum is somehow related to alzheimer's and parkinson's. How dangerous is it? I see people on youtube melting and casting parts without any respirator or anything on, but they're not exactly credible sources. Anyone know how dangerous it can be?

What's the best course of action if I think there's a small chance I may have brought a bedbug home from work?

At work today (in an office) some people found a lone bedbug on the chair that was previously occupied by a recently fired employee.

We pulled apart the seams of that chair and all the others, but we didn't see any more. We wrapped the suspect chair in a garbage bag and mummified it in shipping tape.

When I went home, I entered through the laundry room and immediately put all my clothes in the dryer on high heat for 45 minutes. I then went straight upstairs and took a shower. After that, I sprayed bug spray all over my car seat. I also put the clothes in the washing machine and through the dryer once again. I sprayed bug spray all over the laundry room where I entered.

What do you think the chances are that one of the bugs hitched a ride on my clothes and took up residence in my home? What's the best thing to do at this point?

>>
>>1086312
As long as you took precautions, surveyed the area you disrobed in, and didnt see any of the fuckers you should be fine.

If you were going to get a bedbug infestation from a coworker at work it would have happened by now.

I want to bury a shipping container, but I've seen the collapsed sides when others have tried it.

What sort of reinforcement should I weld onto the container I've brought to make it strong enough?

I was thinking that I could buy another, cut the corrugated panels off, and weld it to the original container. Essentially having walls twice the thickness.
98 posts and 13 images submitted.
>>
28 shipping containers arranged into a cube will easily give you 1 safe container to live in. The center most container
>>
>>1082983
In fact if you weld a series of ribs onto the container body, essentially making it like a series of T shaped frames, it should hold

It is still retarded tho
>>
>>1082983
Instead of a shipping container use a cistern, septic tank, or steel culvert. All 3 of these are meant to be buried. If you go for the septic tank get it new not used otherwise it makes for a shitty bunker.
