You know as someone who works at a grocery store, this is not far from the truth. their are people who come to the store for hours at a time just sniping people for small talk. its cringe worthy to watch. worse to get trapped in it. I was in a sample station and this one lady stood next to me chatting for 2 hours while i had to smile and nod and act like i care.

I could barely stomach red wine until I tried it with cheese. It's amazing how it brings out the flavor of the wine/grapes.

Yep, I'm actually in the process this morning of making my grocery list for my dog's food. I also, though, always keep a small bag of grain-free dog food in the house in case I've run out. Making her food is cheaper than buying the grain free food, and she likes it better as well, because she thinks she's getting people food, since I cook it. My dog is 9 years old and in perfect health (other than some tartar on her back teeth), and I plan on keeping her in great health as long as possible. She's the best dog I've ever had. She just had a full checkup and even the vet was impressed at how healthy she is.

How do I make sushi rice like how they sell in the sushi bars?

Every time i try to make it(boiling it in a pot) it comes out bland as hell.

what can i do to make it taste good enough to be eaten on its on its own?

You Google the correct ratio of rice vinegar, sugar and salt solution to mix into your rice as you cool it.

Chances are you're adding too much water, using the wrong kind of rice, underseasoning it, or overcooking it.

It's also not something you'll get your first go around, and getting a really solid rice vinegar is difficult. There's a pretty delicate balance of sugar and salt that's necessary.

Also make sure you're seasoning the rice right RIGHT after you take it out of the pot. Otherwise it doesn't soak in right and you get a nasty puddle of rice vinegar on the bottom of your bowl.

Actually, I don't even eat breakfast every day (I'm not usually hungry first thing in the morning), but when I do wake up hungry, I want something savory as fuck and with protein, so I end up making something ridiculous. That dog was good, though.

How would one make classic American BBQ sauce at home? From what I understand the base ingredients are ketchup, mollasses and liquid smoke. Is there anything I'm missing? Can I substitute mollasses for something else, since I live in northern Europe mollasses isn't sold in stores and I would have to go out of my way and probably overpay to find it.

There are many regional styles of BBQ sauce in the US.

The most generic one would be made from ketchup (or tomato paste), molasses, vinegar, and some seasonings (I'll list a recipe below). No self-respecting person ever uses liquid smoke. You really ought to see if you can find molasses since it just won't taste right without it. Closest substitute I can think of would be dark brown sugar.

1 cup ketchup
1 cup apple juice or pureed Granny Smith apples
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
1 tb onion powder
2 tb tomato paste
1/4 cup molasses
2 tsp pepper
chili powder or cayenne pepper to taste (if you want it spicy)

Just combine everything in a saucepan and simmer it a bit until it thickens to your liking.

/ck/, i'm sitting infont of the beef liver i just cooked and i cannt bring myself to eat it.
i think i did everything i could to make it taste passabel but it's just gross...

how the fuck do i make liver so it tastes good?

recipe i used:

brown onions, champignons and a pear in cleared butter. season with salt/pepper/nutmeg and cinnamon. add fresh thyme, set aside
in same pan, sear cut up liver till crispy brown outside and slightly pink inside.
combina everything, deglaze with a bit of white vinegar.

i made sure to only use very good products and not overcook anything. the rest of the dish is delicious. just those god damn livers.

I am doing something wrong. I crushed up a full clove of garlic minced, put in a bunch of valdalia onion a small one. it came out too sweet.

What can I add in the future to keep it "level" ? I'm thinking maybe some soy sauce? I'm doing this in a wok, and tossing.

I never even considered vermouth, that's a wonderful idea. I will try it next time. I was almost considering splashing some white vinegar on it but i don't think it would have helped much
