Is Aldi a meme store? I always bought food at Walmart or other grocery stores like Town & Country.
It seems like everything is just generic versions of mainstream brands, but do they still taste alright?
It's not generic. Every Aldi's has different products more or less but it's generally a grab and go store for quality foods. I never count Walmart as a grocery store as it's more of a "convenience" store in itself. While you're there buying what ever it may be you can pick up some quick food supplies without going out to a Shoppers or Whole Foods.

>every going to whole foods ever
How does it feel to be flushing money down the toilet?
idk, I've only bought produce there. Went during summer once and it was full of poor people's kids D:
Fuck all y'all cooking shit. I'm just going to microwave a potato and put butter and seasoning on it.
I don't have time to put effort into choosing and making a meal that'll actually feed me.
Fuck is this shit.
fair dos
those cloth potato pouches for the microwave are actually pretty decent

Enjoy shitting and throwing up
Just tried this on buttered toast, tried it with eggs and tried it in a sandwich.
It tastes awful. Even spread thinly, this is such a distinct and terrible taste. I don't get the hype, and when I google it I find that terrible meme word "Umami" all over the place. It adds umami, they say. Concentrated umami, even.
It contains glutamates. LOTS of things contain glutamates, why is vegemite so famous? I could get the exact same function out of adding straight MSG to my food, why use something that has such an odd flavor?
For me, like marmite, it taste like a beer, if you evaporated all the water and added 3-4 tsp of yeast.
I think it was originally made of the thing that you have at the bottom of a beer fermentation container, that is, dead yeast and stuff from the beer. And its awful

>why is vegemite so famous?
Is it? I thought only convicts had the sub par spread

so your supposed to fry or sautee the rice in hot oil before you add water and tomato sauce?
does this make the rice take longer to cook
say i was in the woods and cooking rice and want to conserve fuel. should i skip the frying part so it cooks quicker?
what are some alternatives to rice? quinoa is like rice but cooks faster, yes? what about hemp seed? hempseed kernels on that are already popped, ya?
im looking for a grain i can toss in a pot with a can of soup and heat up in like 5 minutes
Quick cooking barley is your man. White rice is <ten minutes too
Frying the rice first actually shortens the cooktime but needs a tbs more water
thank you for the handy dandy rice information
Let me teach you an easy way to Spanish rice.
1) sautee minced onion in 1 tbsp butter, 1 tbsp oil
2) add 1 cup rice to a casserole dish
3) add sauteed onion to rice and coat rice completely on fats/oils
4) add 3 cups chicken stock to rice
5) add peas, chopped carrots, tomato sauce to rice
6) cover casserole dish with foil
7) place in preheated oven at 400F for 1 hour
Comes out perfect every time
how do you get a good fallafel?
I'm starting with dried beans, rehydrating them until they start to ferment, changing the water daily
now I've seen some recopies where they are par-cooked first, I'm blanching mine fairly heavily
they are a pain in the ass to blend, they start out throwing themselves around like popcorn, and end up compacting and jamming my blender
I'm not adding much to them, just some dry spice and harissa
I'm frying them at a low temperature
but the end result is still a bit too raw, and much too dense
I made them using this recipe
http://toriavey.com/toris-kitchen/2011/01/falafel/
It was pretty good although I've never had fallafel that wasn't made using this recipe by myself.
>>8571939
I always make mine with fresh fava beans (or dried favas if I've run out of fresh). And if I need a little binder, I use chickepea flour. Favas make superior falafel.
>>8571941
I tried that recipe using raw chickpeas, but found it almost entirely undigested
even using oil on a low temp and making them small, the result was too raw
and they were super dense
>>8571943
go away /pol/
>>8571968
might try fava
what you say about the flour gets me thinking though, I just used wheat flour and I wonder if that's a no-no
I only used a tablespoon or two

Eat plants and focus on increasing fiber intake. Increased bulk from plant matter and fiber will improve regularity and induce defecation before fecal compaction occurs.
Outside of very specific gastrointestinal conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), constipation is generally a poor diet problem, especially for those who consume high amounts of processed foods and meat (both of which are devoid of much if any fiber) as is characteristic of the standard American diet (SAD).
TL;DR – Stop eating dogshit food and start eating whole plant foods.

I like it on crackers. I honestly like basically everything though

it's delicious, though I can really have it often cause I've got a genetic condition that forces me to avoid food high in iron. :(

It's great, love it. Usually making some bread slices with it. Whole grain bread goes really well with it. Top it off with some pickled cucumber. Mhh. Recommending some of the Rhineland-Palatinate variant.
