I am nineteen years old, have a job that I enjoy and make what I think anyways is pretty good money. I work full time, I'm making this post because after my direct deposit went it at midnight, I now have over $10,000 saved up. I want to get into stocks and things, eventually be able to retire at a young age, be rich etc. I feel I'm fairly intelligent, I just want to know if anyone was in a similar situation, and what they did starting out with investing. I have read some things online, and will continue to, but is there any advice from someone who learned from their own experience how to get started?

>TLDR
I am young, have 10k, what do I do with my money to financially grow?

If your not familiar with stocks
you will lose it all.
Find a good company like fidelity
And choose a low risk option.
Guaranteed money.
You can try stocks on your own but to me it isn't worth the risk.
You can also try just playing with stocks about 500$ worth to start an account and see how it really works.
>>
>>1424452
That's fine, I will keep that in mind. What other investments would you recommend making?
>>
>>1424447
Common sense should tell you two things:
1) Lots of people have the ability to save $10,000
2) Somehow, you're not hearing about a new class of stock millionaires from any reliable source (that's right /biz/).
Or, look at it another way. How many people do you know personally that are making a living from the stock market? There's a reason.
That's not to say impossible. But most people aren't even aware of the advantages that would give them a fighting chance, and so the road is littered with failures.

"Easy" way to make a lot of money in Europe/north african.
People here work like that, a bit risky but very worthy

- But cheap used stuff in Europe, garage well etc.
- Make your car full of them
- Sell them in north africa with a x5 to x20 profit

You can get some minor fines but it's safe. You can make like +100k/year with a very very low cost of life here.

All my family do that and they've like +1 millions$ USD.

>>
But I bet it only works if you're from africa, not if you're a rich european and have no connections in the south?
>>
You will need to sell the car as well if you want to really make a lot
>>
>>1424184
No it work both way. Travel/year aren't limited.

I just sold some light tent material bought 5€ at 200€, and some old 360 games (5€) at 10€ each so 300€. Also some shirts/shoes at 30€ each from 1€.
Europeans really don't give a fuck.

>>1424205
Yes, any 300-400€ shit car there cost 5000€ here. But it's quit not legal.
My dad did that for years to buy our house, he knew some "guys".

Post your buy-orders of those securities or your portfolio where they are already purchased or shut the fuck up.
>>
>>1423562
But if "indexes" are at an all time high, doesn't that mean "stocks" are a bad idea right now?
>>
>>1423609
The indexes are so high because of a few blue chip stocks. It is a bit deceiving.

/diy/ here. I heard about the bitfinex hack. Can't they just trace the stolen bitcoins to a certain account and freeze them out? I mean, it should be easy to track where they went since the blockchain is public, right? That's why I like the idea of bitcoin. There is more accountability so it's not possible for a bitcoin exchange to just steal bitcoins and get away with it. Using an exchange is a lot more safer than using a bank this way. That's just my thoughts. Wondering what you guys knew about this.

If you are making six figures, is there a good reason not to adopt a teenage child for tax purposes?

You get access to tax credits (Child Tax Credit), Tax Deductions (dependent care deductions, additional dependent for standard deduction, additional exemption for calculations), and the potential for exponential tax savings if they end up going to college financed with loans and give you their 1098-t forms to deduct all those juicy tuition and fee expenses.

We're talking 4 or 5 digits of tax savings for every year of college, plus a buttload of credits while they are in high school, and if you go the foster route the state will even pay you.

Usually if you are making six figures you already have a 2+ bedroom place and a second car, why not give them to some teenage kid and let them share your oatmeal and poptarts?

Children are only an asset if you can leverage them for higher welfare payments or if they grow to be successful enough that you can guilt trip them into funding your retirement.
>>
It will NEVER come out to be a net positive, and you'll just be left raising someone else's kid.

I'm guessing neural net forecasts

>Not going to one of the military service academies
>Not getting the free equivalent to an Ivy League Education (West Point is the best engineering college)
>Not riding that officer money for four years
>Not owning houses on multiple continents through your VA loans that you rent out when you get reassigned to a new base
>Not getting that free law or medical degree once you're out thanks to the GI bill

I guess if you're some kind of pussy who doesn't want to have a military adventure in your 20's not doing this makes sense.

This crypto stock trading feels a lot like gambling. Probably because it precisely taxes your gambling skills and puts them to the work.
It's all about making the good calls so you can make the largest profits in the shortest timespan. You need a huge talented intuition, like a sixth sense.

Is anyone here on /biz/ actually talented at stock trading?

For those in ETF's:

GOLD or OIL right now if you had to pick, Gold or Oil. They're both looking healthy but I think Oil will be superior for long term, Oil's starting to bottom out.
