is smoking a good tool for a stressful /biz/life?
besides the start up cost, e-cigs are way cheaper.

if you smoke cigarrettes you are telling everyone around you , you are a "mark".
Smoking cigarettes is probably one of the defining habits of poor people.
It's right up there with drinking alcohol by yourself

Has anyone read this book?
I'm finding a lot of flaws in the explanations in it. So either I'm just stupid or the book is a bunch of BS
>>1426186
Or both.
>>1426186
It's BS.
>>1426186
I've read the book. Mostly it will help you identify patterns and determine entry and exit points based on the examples given. However it is fairly poorly written and doesn't go into much detail but it will give you enough info to simply 'get started' in technical analysis.

I've been contemplating on starting a business. Any tips on what I should go into, or how to even get started?
Maybe I should just join a steady/functioning business and work my way up the ladder. Any advice would be appreciated.
I'm not a business owner myself but I would suggest taking something you are passionate about and thinking "how could I make money with this?" It sounds like you are thinking "I want to make a lot of money, what business can I start to do that?" If you are very motivated this could work but you probably wouldn't be happy for a long time.
Starting your own business, and building it up to be successful takes a long time.
Buying an already running business is a better idea.
Thats what I'm looking to do at least.
The biggest difficulty I'm facing so far is securing a loan.

I hate 4chan. I mean, there's the rare interesting thread, but half or more of each fucking board is shit like this spammed over and over like it's funny, except it doesn't have even the modicum of thought that humor requires. There is no joke. It's just a thing. Shitposts are just things. Barely even entities spontaneously brought into the the mind of some idiot. It's like they're the antiparticles to ideas, because ideas are at least demonstrable proof that someone is capable of thought.
You suck. Everyone that contributes to the shit state this place is in and has always been in sucks. You are why we cannot have anything fun, and you waifu is pasty-faced, lying garbage. Who does she think she is, anyway. Steve Jobs? Turtlenecks are for innovators that at least don't get BTFO upon evaluation of their fraudulent business claims. Fuck off, OP, go die.

Hey /biz/, I have about 30k saved up. I'm interested in investing it in something with a low(er) risk than stocks.

That is not what the guy at the Ferrari dealership told me.

Someone teach me how to adult please. I'm 23 and never had a credit card. I just find them so stupid. I mean seriously, imagine for a moment this. If they didn't make you build up credit why the fuck would you ever want a credit card instead of a debit card? I see no advantage to a credit card. I have money in my bank, I use my debit card to buy shit. Why would I want to use a credit card except for the fact that it builds up credit? I'm obviously missing something. What don't I understand here?
Like i'm about to walk into my bank and say "listen bitch give me a credit card. I'm going to walk into a 7/11 once a fucking month and buy some stupid candy bar for a dollar then pay it off imediately. Don't worry about me building up debt. Don't worry about me not paying my bill. Don't worry about me spending too much. I'm buying 1 fucking candy bar a month and forgetting I have the damn card until next month."
I looked up some stuff and found something called a secured credit card which sounds like just a prepaid card essentially. I put in $500 of whatever and spend however much and I just built up credit right? That sounds like exactly what I want.
My mother made me get a credit card when I was 18 so I could build up credit. I only use it when I buy things on Amazon and I always pay it off in one payment.
They might be useful if you want to live beyond your means, I guess.
>>1424862
Because you get 2% back on every purchase for free.
>>1424869
does it have to be a good credit card? Can I do exactly what you did pretty much? Amazon has a credit card. Can I get one of theirs and use it on amazon to buy shit? I'm sure they have a ton of rewards for using it on amazon. Or do I need a fucking master card of Visa or Discover or some shit?
I like video games and am almost entirely digital at this point. Playstation has a credit card. I've thought about getting a playstation credit card and using it to buy all my games.
Why can't Amazon compete?
>>1424767
Because they took an IP that was already there in book form, made it worse, then made it a TV show. Netflix shot something original in an (arguably) original way.
>>1424807
Also content. Netflix seems to have so much more. That said I'm a Netflix investor but don't subscribe yet. I have prime for the shipping. Though that is probably getting cancelled next month.
Amazon keep putting all their content eggs in one nest. They have very few exclusive series on their website. The Man In The High Castle is pretty much the only unique Amazon show.
Netflix are throwing out as much as they can and seeing what sticks. But they're not doing it blindly, either. They're listening to demand and responding to it, such as running Marvel TV shows.
Plus, Netflix just struck gold earlier. They had the best streaming service early in the game, giving them the name. Their brand name has become a commonly used verb, which pretty much fucks over any competition (For example, the search engine market is so skewed towards Google, and part of that is because we refer to searching on the internet as "googling". That word is in the fucking dictionary now).
>What the hell is this?
Basically think of it as a fake World Cup for different 4chan boards. Each board makes a team, the teams play each other in Pro Evolution Soccer, and the best teams move forward into the knockouts until one board rises above the rest.
Boards create a 23-man roster based on board culture and memes, and molds their team to look and play like their board - /biz/ has a roster mostly consisting of cryto/finance captained by Martin Shkreli, based off of a poll we did on the board before the Spring cup.
There are basically two "tiers" of teams - in Winter/Summer, the top 32 teams play in the Elite cups, while Spring and Autumn play host to the Babbies, where teams hope to advance to the Elite level.
>How does /biz/ play into this?
To put it nicely, we haven't really been all that good. /biz/ played in 3 Babby Cups without really doing anything, and actually had to play in a qualifier to even get to play in the last Babby Cup.
After a few draws and some decent wins against teams like /gif/ and /sci/, /biz/ has the chance to play in an Elite Cup for the first time ever. It's not going to be easy, though - we'll have to play a few powerhouse teams, including /m/, the team that won the Babby Cup (and stomped on us) a few months ago.
>When is this?
The cup takes three weekends, with the "Group Stages" taking place this Friday/Saturday/Sunday and next Friday/Saturday/Sunday. Each team plays 3 matches in their groups, with /biz/ scheduled to play these matches:
August 6th (Saturday), 19:30 UTC (3:30 PM EDT): vs. /tv/
August 12th (Friday), 19:30 UTC (3:30 PM EDT): vs. /m/
August 14th (Sunday, 19:30 UTC (3:30 PM EDT): vs. [s4s]
These times are probably going to change, since we'll be the 6th match each day - expect the match to start anywhere between 3:30 and 4:30 EDT each day.
The top two teams from that group will play in the knockouts on August 20th/21st. Hopefully we'll get to that point, and see where things go from there.
>Is this as dumb as it looks?
Yup. It's corny as all hell and some people take it way too seriously. /sp/ treats it like a religion, some boards take it way too seriously, and there are some teams that have small armies of managers and testers that try to make their teams SLIGHTLY better than others.
The way I see it, it's a fun little event that might introduce some casual viewers/fans to /biz/ as a board - if it gets a few people to browse and post or get involved, it's a cool bonus. It's a little silly to take "people pretending to play soccer on a video game" seriously, but it's also cool to get people interested and involved on /biz/ and learn a little bit about other boards.
The links below should have everything you need to know about the /biz/ team and the actual cup schedule. I'll be here to answer any questions obviously, and to try to keep things a little hyped for the match this weekend.

I've never understood how these cups work.
Both teams are computer-controlled, aren't they? So isn't it just RNG?
>>1424762
You could make a team that was stupid and didn't make sense, and you'd get your ass kicked. But if you made a really really good team, you up your chances to - maybe like 60-65% chance of winning?
Like I said, the concept of "Let's get 15 people playing fake sports games so we have a slightly better chance of winning" doesn't make a ton of sense to me. But something got put together that was decently made - if it doesn't win, it'll at least be a lot of fun to watch.

Is a dog a solid financial investment? How much will it cost per month?
>>1424015
Wtf? Are you really asking this shite question? You get a dog cause you want one, not because it's a fucking investment. If you want to invest go invest in FOREX or some shit, not dogs.
>>1424015
It depends if it's going to be a guard dog it's a great investment. Just make sure it's a Rottweiler or a German Shepherd. Make sure not to baby it too much so it can be aggressive.
I've got a buddy that has this fantasy he's going to raise a dog and sell stud fees. So far he's got several thousand dollars into this project and hasn't sold one load.
The only way you can even come close to recouping the cost of a dog is if you get a dog in lieu of some kind of monitored security system.
