Hi, I really wanted to get a dog for a long time now, the problem is that I live alone and I'm out at work about 10 hours a day - 5, sometimes 6 days a week, so the little voice in my head tells me that it would be cruel and bad for dogs' mental and physical health to be locked in the room alone most of the day.. So I got 2 dogs, both rescues, both good dogs 90% of the time.
HOWEVER
One of them pisses on the couch fairly frequently. And always in the spot the other dog lays in.
I've taken a few measures (less water throughout the day, a walk before I leave the house) and the dog still does it. Oddly enough it's only when my wife and I leave the house at the same time, so I'm sure it's some kind of stress thing.
Any tips? I've been trying to break this habit for about 3 years now but nothing really seems to work.
Pic related but not my couch. I wouldn't be caught dead with that thing in my house.

Kennel them when you leave, put them outside in a fenced area, or put something on the couch to keep them off of it when your not there. Like a clothes basket or small chair, etc. I would also not allow them on the couch at all anymore regardless if I was home or not. For separation anxiety, You could get some anxiety meds from the vet for the dogs or try bachs rescue remedy.
Other than the couch pissing thing are they otherwise house broken?
I know it probably won't be well received but I would bust my dogs ass immediatley if I caught him pissing on the couch.

>Dog runs off mutilated and bleeding
>Little 9 year old girl comes out sees her mutilated dog and bursts into tears
>Her dad runs out out swearing at me and even threatens to kill me, he said he would call the police and he did
>Police come I show them the video
>Dad gets arrested for threatening me
A day passes
>Proceed to Sue family for having their dog off leech (irrsponsiblility) and how that led to be getting emotional distress
>Win the case for 10 fucking thousand dollars
>Then proceed to make tons of phonecalls to different organizations telling them how I don't feel safe in the neighborhood with this dog who attacked me
>Tell them everything
>They had the dog forced to be put down even without the owners consent because the dog was dangerous
2 Month Passes
>Family had to move because the 10K in lawsuits was too much for them and their house mortgage so they had to move to the shithole part of town where it's all sketchy and the school is shit and full of violent youths

Hello /an/, I have a 7 year old female cat that I just adopted a few months ago. She seemed abused so I tried to make her comfortable as possible but she still doesnt like being petted or picked up and/or moved for a second. Like I let her pet herself by holding my hand out and she rubs her face against it.. she just meows a ton but even for a second trying to pet her back she turns her meow into a growl. Out of all this, for some reason she gets on my chest to lay down but still won't let me touch her etc. So how or what can I do to to fix this issue? I feel bad cause they were gonna put her down at the humane society so I scooped her up.

The funny part was today I ended up playing with her by doing the old trick of putting the hand under the covers and moved around and she loved it. I kinda always make sure that the front of my body isnt facing her whenever I approach her. You can tell how much she's been abused.. emotionally wise. I make sure she never is in contact with my other cats, she is the only one in my bedroom at all times. I'm just worried that she'll end up being broken forever. I've already avoiding towering her since I know cats hate it. I wish I could read cats minds.

Some cats just aren't snuggly, she might be one of those. Good on you for taking in an unwanted cat!
