Obviously the actual picture isn't fake, though doubtful it's OP's. People handle this animal but at the least I hope people on on stand by even if it's just someone breathing for you. Venom typically is not the first resort but you'd have to be a special kind of stupid to handle one knowingly without aid near by if not for the fact their venom sets in very fast. Rattlesnakes and spiders are babyshit compared to one.

Yesterday I had to de-flea my dog. I caught it early, because I saw it coming. My next door neighbor's dog has it so bad you can see it from 20 feet away. She's got not much going for her, in general, the neighbor. Lost people in her family. Never married. Alone in a house that's too big. The dog was her dad's. It waits for him on the porch every evening. Now it's badly infested and spreading the contagion.

So I am going to donate a therapeutic flea bath, a bottle of EVOLV, and a collar, out of self-defense. She's not a bad person, just not very bright, spoiled, and then unexpectedly marooned on a desert island of that's-how-life-goes-sometimes. In fact, combined with ugly and recently rapidly obese, I don't really care about her destiny in the universe at all.

But her dog does not deserve to suffer. He's a good dog. And I liked her dad. He would want me to intervene. I feel more loyalty and empathy for a dog and a ghost than for a living person.

I knew you would be the ones to understand.

You might not care about her but I know she'll feel grateful. Nice of you to help out the dog.
>>
>>2212542
you are a good person. I hope she accepts. If not you should intervene by maybe contacting some animal rights people? I dont know.
>>
>>2212548
I can do it without calling. It's just fleas. I'm dog people.

Besides, we've lived next to each other for 17 years. I lent her dad my lawnmower. I borrowed his snow blower. That kind of thing. He and I figured out how to make pizza on a barbecue grill when the power was out for two days once. (it requires bricks).

Yesterday I just hopped the fence and sprayed him down with hydrated silica, because I had some left over. If I had videoed it, it would have become an instant hit in a /b/ gore thread. Erupting fleas by the hundreds. And its not just the imagery that kills my will to live, it's the plum-fuck ignorance that allowed it to get this far. MRI Dog project, you know? They are unique in the animal kingdom. We made them. We made them for us. They exist for us. We made them that way. They know nothing in life but to seek and maintain human companionship.

My appointment is in 90 minutes. Fucking taking forever.

Some cats are fucking drama queens, yeah. One of the few I raised from 2 weeks old became aloof when she turned 4-5 months old, idk what's up with that

But most of the cats I've met actually snuggle up to me, even if I have no food. Maybe it has something to do with my disposition. Pic related, stray that slept on my lap for no reason

Is this a good idea?

I want to get a dog and don't want to deal with house breaking it. Should I just got to a shelter and get an older dog? I've been told shelter dogs have too many problems and I'm better off going to like a pet shop.

>>
some shelter dogs are fine, just ask around and don't just get the first pretty dog you see.
>>
Older dogs are not as hayai
>>
>>2212370
Definitely ask if the dog is house trained. While many of the adult dogs at least have a partial understanding of house training, not all dogs were and some dogs have gotten the idea that going to the bathroom with someone around is a big no no. It wasn't common, but I did have to re-train dogs who would actually only shit inside.

So yeah, look for older, well trained dogs. Ask if they are house trained, be prepared to put the dog on a schedule and expect some accidents at first because the dog's life has probably changed a lot in the matter of a few days.

Very possibly Japanese Knotweed. Shit's invasive as hell and very hard on riparian (river side) species. The only way to get rid of it is to dig it up and burn it on site. All of the roots need to be burned.

Best beginners exotic pet?

I have an apartment life and im an EMT with a fucked schedule of living

I was looking at ferrets whom I love to handle (I had a friend growing up with 2 of them, they would nibble but never broke skin and were always happy to play which is something cats never did got me)
But I was also looking at a small but thick snake, but ive never handled them before because the one I knew growing up was very hostile with anyone but his owner

I have spare money surprisingly enough, I can shell out 2-3k towards an animal a year

I wanted a dog but people here advised me not to or to get smaller breeds (I have a phobia of small dogs)

I heard that ferrets are amazing pets but they take a lot of time which is something I do in fact have after work

How are you afraid if small dogs? I think ferrets would do ok so long as you have two. How often and when are you able to play with a pet? Ferrets are most active at dawn and dusk so that may not work with your schedule. I don't know typical EMT hours, if there are any.
>>
>>2212336
Dawn and dusk is when I'm not transporting old people and giving field dressing to car accident victims :D

For the small dogs thing, when I was little a small dog that a neighbor destroyed my hand after the neighbor gave permission to pet it

My 1 year old west highland terrier just got desexed today, it's been about 5 hours since I picked her up, and she's whining and crying. Is this the pain killer wearing off or is there some sort of problem? Any help would be appreciated.
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Ring back the vets and ask for a mild painkiller, say the other ones given are starting to wear off and your dog seems extra distressed.

You should get a dose to sort her out for the night and tomorrow hopefully the cries will mostly be from wanting to get out of her cone instead if pain.
>>
>>2212160
She hasn't got a cone and the pain killers she was on is from surgery.

The one thing that the zoo officials/security didn't try to do, which would have helped diffuse the situation and ultimately save both the lives of the kid and the gorilla, was the removal of the crowd. It was obvious that the crowd's reactions made both animals uneasy and prone to unstability.
I agree with the mother that accidents happen, but it was also obvious that Harambe didn't want to harm the child.
One however might argue that it was the crowd's reactions that kept him from mauling the child.

/k/ here with a question, sorry if I'm breaking board rules. I checked the catalog and didn't see a thread for it.

My puppers loves to hike. She loves hiking more than she loves to eat pizza, and she loves eating pizza.

Problem is my doggo gets sore paws. I've tried Mushers paw wax, which helps. She still gets torn paws though. So I bought her some booties (which was the best $20 I spent because I got to watch her learn to walk again).

Makes me wonder though, can booties mess up her tootsies? My tootsies feel messed up if I hike in improper footwear.

Help Scout have a better time hiking guys.

Also post and rate your wagglepups.

Dog booties are simple as fuck, because their names don't have arches or balls. So there's not much fitting or anything to it for it to fit improperly. As long as it's big enough to fit comfortably it should be good but idk how well it will do on long hikes

How do you guys cope with loss?

I haven't lost anyone yet, thank god - but I'm worried.

I'm going through a lot right now and my cats help me so much. I have a brother and sister. They're so beautiful. They're like my children.

Sometimes the thought of them ever dying makes me nervous beyond belief. Its not like they're old, theyre about 8. But I still feel like if one of them dies, I'll just break.

Has anyone had similar feelings? I'm laying down next to one of them right now with tears in my eyes. She's so amazing. He's so amazing. I can't get over them.

I'm not one to get sad, or even cry, I'm 22 and have lost my mother and close family already, but death doesn't bother me or make me sad, yet finding the cat i had since its birth and was 'my' cat having a stroke in the garden one summer i had to lock myself in my room and just cry, i couldn't even be with her and comfort her on her way out.

I was in my room telling myself if she's not dead and out of misery in so and so minuets i'll drown her to help her end it.

it was awful to watch, they go blind and just cry outloud and have spasums.

I miss her.
>>
>>2211952
It's inevitable

just accept it, cry if you need

If you took good care of them, then don't be sad

I'm... so sorry, anon. I'm sorry she had to go in such a way. My father also passed, and it affected me, of course - quite a lot, actually. But seeing such an innocent and precious creature go terrifies me. How can life be so cruel? Is that creature just going to be "another cat who died"? Is it significant? Am I significant?

I think I need to sit down. I'm having a bit of an existential crisis.
