I wouldn't touch anything as hard as heroin, ever. It's primarily psychedelics and dodgy research chemicals.

Had a bad drug experience in October long into our relationship (which by then had become two people madly in love doing drugs together). When I cut down after that she found another group of people to do drugs with, and I got jealous of her doing things we used to do together with random people.

Earlier this year she dumped me after feeling like I was judging her for doing drugs, and I thought I'd be OK clinging to the improvements I've made to myself.

Problem is, I don't feel any better not doing drugs and doing them never harmed me or affected my worklife or schedule any. So I've lost not just the person I loved but gained nothing out of it if I stop doing drugs.

Someone pointed out how ironic this is the other day and I can't help but feel like I fucked up. Doubly.

You have to understand life would be meaningless without death, just as warmth would have no worth if it was never cold.
We all need a purpose to drive us onward, and the purpose is knowing that we only have a limited time. Think about it, anon, if you could actually live forever, what would anything be worth? No need to enjoy life, you can do that later, no need to work, you can do that later, no need to have experiences, you can do that later.
The very beauty of life is that you only get to experience it for ~70 years (plus infancy and Dementia). Without that deadline steadily and inevitably approaching, you wouldn't need to make it count.

I used to have the same fear and it persists for quite a while but after life beats you down over and over and over again you start to almost be happy that one day you won't have to do any of this any more. I know that's probably not what you want to hear. Also the fact that you're going to die someday makes everything in life truly beautiful. We're like flowers that blossom bloom and whither. Just the fact that you can perceive your own conciousness is amazing. Live every day like you're a dying man. Chase your dreams. The more you dwell on your inevitable end the more you will just ruin your experience here.

Narcissistic people don't often admit they are.

If you notice that 95% of time you think about yourself: your hobbies, your plans, your behaviour AND you only see value in people, if they are useful to you AND all close people call you inconsiderate then you are.
IF that's the case:

Introspect why you act like this.
If it's because of not feeling worthy of acception as I felt, find a good friend/family member to confide in, try to fully accept your flaws.
This nauseous "becoming your own best friend" actually isn't stupid.

Plus put more effort in being nice to people, you'll respect what you did and relationship with those people as a side-effect.
Make thoughtful presents, listen carefully, be more cheerful to them, but don't push yourself too hard.

No, I don't really use people like that. I acknowledge that people are more than just means to an end, and I detest those that use other purely for their own gains.

I'm already trying with being genuinely helpful, and lend a listening ear to people or hand, but at the same time, I also know I'm very vain with how I present myself.
