Give Trump Doom a go, you won't be disappointed.
I'm not dead, I just got distracted for a few days.
What does vr think of Zelda Classic/Zquest the definitive Zelda 1 game maker.
The original version came out in the late 90s, so the program itself counts as retro.
I think it's an obsolete, cobbled-together piece of shit that's been on programming life support for as long as I can remember.
The community around it is a hugbox piece of shit.
I can't think of a more user friendly Zelda editor. It's amazing.

What are some games I can beat from start to finish in about 5-7 hours that are particularly addicting? I'm pulling an all-nighter and need something I can finish and not come back to.
Looking for something with a story or engaging single player action, not something that will require me to come back and get better and better at, like a scrolling shooter or fighting game. I'm kind of a casual and apologize in advance for that.
plok
Mario 1, 3, or World.
Starfox 1.
>>3945709
Plok is hard af bro
Name a better/more fun playable character with a more lame design
>>3945625
literally green mario
>>3945625
He looks pretty cool though. His beta sprite looked dumb ass shit, but his final design is cool.
there is none
My gf is pretty hardcore at gamez as far as girls go. Her favorite games are stuff like Morrowind, VTMB, and E.Y.E. I revealed to her the existence of SS2 and she's really excited to start.
I've never played it. What ports/packs do I need to update graphics the best way? What things should you know going in?
So you recommended a game you've never played?
>>3945594
>I've never played it
Oh shit nigga, you can play it co op with her then.
No /CRTStation/ bread. lets fix that.
My retrostation.
Post your quick/one-off questions here.

Is it worth getting a 32X and/or Sega CD, or should I just cut the shit and emulate their games? I already have a Genesis, and I wouldn't mind getting the add-ons for the shits and giggles.
>>3944728
I would say depending on price. I just bought a Sega model 2 and a CD for under $80. Waiting for a good sub $50 price to get a Sega 32x. There are only about 40 games for the system so it may not be worth it.
The CD is nice because you can burn games. I also have a Everdrive which is nice for Master System games.
Question for fellow piratefags, Is a modded ps2 the best way to play both burned ps2 and psx games? I've been going back and forth between buying a modded psOne and later on getting a ps2, but if I can play both consoles on only one machine then I'll just settle with a ps2 with either softmod or a modchip on it. I want the best psx compatibility, else I'll just get both consoles.
How well does Harvest Moon 64 emulate? If it emulates fine then I'm not gonna buy it in my final buying spree of N64 games. I have almost every game I want and I plan on going on one last buying spree and calling it good. I already eliminated a few spendier games like Castlevania Legacy of Darkness and Ogre Battle 64 and Pokemon Stadium 2 because they seem to emulate fine and I see no reason to spend a shitton of money on these games if I can get the same deal on an emulator and they don't hold any sentimental value to me unlike the main games I want on the list. If I can knock Harvest Moon 64 off the list because it emulates well that saves me another $50
No gameplay-based scroll allowed! I'm sure these have a name, but whatever. Just post your favorites and recommendations

>"comical action games" (CAGs) in Japan
Who thought of this term? At least its not shit like "belt scroller". Snow Bros is fucking RAD they get all the bitches.
Don Doko Don is cool. Play as a garden gnome and beat shit up with a hammer. Taito is the undisputed king of this subgenre.
>>3944774
Don Doko Don made a cameo in Bubble Symphony and Pop'n Pop
Hey /vr/. What are your favorite old PC games?
My PC is shit and I'm looking for mainly 2D sprite based games.
Some that I already have are Civ3, Alpha Centauri, and SimCity3000.
Also does anyone else feel like these early 2D PC games look much cleaner than 3D? Its a very comfy aesthetic to me.
>>3944229
Try Doom, pretty good game.
Isometric 2D is literally the best style for any strategy game and should never have been abandoned.
Do you like finding hidden things?
Do you like puzzles?
If so, yes
>>3943935
It's the first in the series of games that became larger than life.
Certainly one of the biggest titles to be released on the NES.
It's worth checking out just so you can weigh your own opinions against all the hype and nostalgia.
I got this for Christmas in 1987 and still play through it every few years.
>>3943935
Completed the first quest a few months ago for the first time. It's pretty damn great. The beginning is a bit rough but by the time you get the boomerang in the first dungeon, the experience improves a lot.
Just got myself one of these cheapo scart to HDMI converters since I've been hearing really good things about them considering the price. Sadly I'm having a problem with mine. It's displaying the image in the wrong position, cutting a big chunk from the left and adding in black to the right side.
Anyone have any idea if this can be fixed somehow?
Here's an example, stretched to 16:9 to make it easier to see.
Tested with other consoles too to make sure it's not my SFC acting up somehow.
are using a rgb-cable or is it composhit?
otherwise, no idea.
>>3943574
Using one of these from retrogamingcables.
what are some good retro fighters that maybe don't see as much discussion as MK or SF?
let's talk about em.

i remember being obsessed with primal rage as a kid. thought it was so fucking cool. the design was great but as i remember the game wasn't so hot
Got these for dirt cheap at the flea market today, Goldeneye, Fzero X, Star Fox and a game without label which i hope will be Banagi-O or Paper Mario.
Anyways, Goldeneeye and Fzero are working fine now after i cleaned them with alcohol and brasso.
However, Star Fox and the mystery game refuse to work, ive cleaned them autistically and yet no luck, do you guys see anything that i dont?
Also, does the game boot without the shielding inside the cart?
All four casrts had corrosion oj the inside and the pins, they look clean to me so im starting to believe its actually something else.
Some of the traces coming off the pins are corroded away. you need to solder little wires where into the breaks are.
>>3943106
so i need a tester to check for continuity then...
Could you point to me just one of the traces you see as corroded? ive never seen carts like this so im not sure what to look for.
Anyone know where to get a 72 to 60 pin adapter? Every time I search, I get the other way around. A famicom is the only working version of the system I have at the moment and I want my roomate to be able to catch me playing "Golf" alone in my bedroom at night.
Where you live, anon?
I bought a new one from Stone Age Gamer in the U.S., though those are $30 which seems expensive for such a simple thing.
Ebay seems to have cheaper ones from Hong Kong, and then there's those Chinese stores people here talk about.
>>3942574
>I want my roomate to be able to catch me playing "Golf" alone in my bedroom at night.
what
>>3942574
Try tototek, gamedoctor and ufo. At least one of them will have it.
i have this copy of donkey kong country 3 but it doesn't work at all, it just shows a black screen, anybody have any idea whats going on? I tried cleaning the contacts and nothing.
>>3942005
Do other games work?
>>3942005
Pic is blurry. Use hi-res potato for taking pic.
Hard to tell with the blur, but the contacts on the rear still seem suspiciously dirty. Have you tried taking an eraser to them yet?
