Do you like finding hidden things?
Do you like puzzles?
If so, yes
>>
>>3943935
It's the first in the series of games that became larger than life.
Certainly one of the biggest titles to be released on the NES.
It's worth checking out just so you can weigh your own opinions against all the hype and nostalgia.

I got this for Christmas in 1987 and still play through it every few years.

Completed the first quest a few months ago for the first time. It's pretty damn great. The beginning is a bit rough but by the time you get the boomerang in the first dungeon, the experience improves a lot.
>>
>>3943935

great game. don't feel bad about googling a map. the devs intended players to use maps
>>
>>3943941
This game doesn't really have puzzles though.

There are obvious rooms where you push the block on the far left to enter a staircase, random walls you need to bomb, random bushes you need to burn, and that one time you need to play a flute by a lake, but other than that nothing you could really call puzzle elements.
>>
>>3943935
It's probably the only one in the series worth playing aside from LttP and LA.
>>
It's aged pretty badly. Still worth playing just to see where it all began.

>>3944030

Final boss is pretty bullshit if you haven't been collecting those heart containers though.
>>
>>3943935
Do you like dungeons? Do you like preparing to fight through dungeons? Do you like getting the shit kicked out of you and then like preparing to go through them again? Do you like getting the shit kicked out of you and then combing the world for a really great powerup that will even the odds?

Play it.
>>
>>3944594
This.

I hate handholding and signposting as much as the next person, but asking the player to burn or bomb every tile on the world map in the hope of discovering a secret (without a strategy guide or an online walkthrough by someone who wasted his own time) is just asinine.
>>
>>3945063
The game doesn't expect you to burn every bush those are secrets. So are bombable walls in the overworld. You can go through the whole game without ever doing either of those things and the bombable walls in dungeons are fairly obvious if you know about bombing walls period, which I think you get told about when you get the bombs/
>>
>>3943935

Yes, full stop. But don't feel bad if you have to use a guide or map, especially for the second quest.
>>
>>3943935
Yes. Includes invaluable maps and strategic playing tips.
>>
>is this worth playing
yes for one reason and one reason only as >>3943951 said. Since you're the only person on this earth without rosy red glasses or nostalgia goggles you can be the decider as to whether its good or not.
>>
>>3944801
Final boss is kind of a (bad) joke, the wizzrobes are the real assholes.
>>
I unironically like this more than ALttP. Mostly because the sword mechanics are nicer. The only downsides are that you need to blow up random spots with bombs, which are very rare and a pain in the ass to go out and collect; and one dungeon with wizrobes that brutally kick your ass.

You should play it.
>>
>>3943935yes

>puzzles

Get out of here Aonuma, there's no puzzles in the NES Zeldas
>>
>>3943935
My friends kids do not like loz and don't understand why he and I love it so much. I personally still think it holds up gameplay wise to todays games. I'm currently playing the uncharted series and I've said WTF more time than I can count. Very mediocre games so far IMO. Anyway, just remember there was nothing like this when it came out which is where all of the nostalgia and love come from.
>>
>>3945438
I just did the 2nd quest and its very doable without a guide. I hadn't played the 2nd quest probably in over 25 years so I couldn't remember where shit was. Was great.
