Does anyone else think super/revenge bars and all the other bloat make fighting games a lot less fun?
I've been continuously going back to Super Street Fighter 2, which already had a developed cast and combo system, but without the super bars - it's a great game to hone your basic footwork and neutral game. I wish there was a modern version of this that people played.
I mean, 2D fighting games are kind of an anomaly in that getting into them now is more demanding than ever before, since every new franchise inherits decades of development on the basic SF2 formula. Which is cool, if you've been continuously playing the genre and are able to appreciate how all these mechanics give you new options, but for anyone who's not an expert it obscures the essential gameplay. Someone picking up SF2 can easily get rekt by the simple projectile - uppercut punish if he's only played a modern fighting game like SF4, since it probably gives him a dozen ways to deal with projectiles and he gets more results by training how to cancel combos into supers and following them with ultras to remove 50% of the health bar etc. This shit has gone too far.
SUPER bar is garbage, every super command requires extremely precise and tight timing to come out and that shit only works once per match so it's not only hard to come out but it's also really easy to whiff.

I liked how Alpha 3 handled it with a,v, and x-ism modes even though V is broken as shit.

I played SF4 online on a keyboard and it was extremely easy to execute supers. There were characters I only played because they had a good combo into super into ultra (Gen) which decided the whole match. The majority of the game turns into conserving your bar resources when they are given this much power, which they usually are in later fighters.
I'll concede that Super Turbo was a great game and they weren't that decisive back then, however.

That you mike?
I'm visiting my sister in July. I live in another country, so I don't get to see her that often, so I want to make the most of it. One thing I want to do is play some Famicom with her, but I don't know of that many games that are really fun to play in multiplayer.
I have an Everdrive N8, so as long as they work on it, we can play them. Games where one player can die permanently while the other one can continue playing are no fun though.
Chip'n'Dales, also got a sequel but it's worse.
Snow Bros
Shadow Of The Ninja
Konami Wai Wai World 2
otherwise there are plenty of beat em ups and shoot em ups playable in coop.
Double Dragon 2, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 and 3, Battletoads&Double Dragon, Jackal, Crisis Force, Heavy Barrel, Contra, Super C, etc etc

>Games where one player can die permanently while the other one can continue playing are no fun though.
Then why don't you reset the game when either dies?
>>3950529
No need to namefag, namefag.
>>3950529
>Then why don't you reset the game when either dies?
Then we'll likely never finish the game.
Hardest SNES Games?
That version of Contra is so hard it's IMPOSSIBLE to beat on the Genesis.

Also THIS. Jesus. Also, a Cecil-only playthrough of FFII/IV will give you quite a chore.
What am I in for?

A highly comedic and strangely heartfelt plot with very grindy and traditional gameplay.
Hopefully not the original English translation, by far the worst I've seen in a mainstream game, no hyperbole.
>>3950195
Did the GBA and PSP versions fix the translation?
Do you prefer the US version or JAP version?does it really matter?
>>3950157
I'll say the JP version just sounds better overall (and because they were too lazy to write new PCM+FM tracks, the Past tunes are the same in all versions, making them sound out of place in the US release).
but which one you like more is your own call though
US one's not bad, although I think it fits the loud, colorful art a lot worse.
I highly prefer the level 1 music of the US version.

The EU/JPN one isn't bad either but the US one just sounds chill.
Apart from that I don't really care either way.
JP version are better fun powerfull and like theme of that stage
us version have bored and plain music. I Shouted WTF at firsttime I play US version on PC where are my sonicCD music.
FUCK THIS SHIT
Blow it out your ass.
>ride on the penguin's head
>walk beside the penguin
>jump on the penguin, then jump off to the other side
>triple jump over the breath
>triple jump onto the snowman's head
Are you brain dead, OP?

Looking for something new to play. I have played all the good RPG games on SNES and i am curious what good games the Playstation has in its library.
Anything not made by Japs is good.
Anything made by Japs is good.
RPG games is redundant.
The PSX has a lot of "good" JRPGs. JRPGs tend to be linear, only giving you an illusion of choice and openness. The result is that they're not fun to play, but sometimes they're an entertaining ride.
Last thread died and I couldn't get to reply, but someone posted a video of Arino playing Super Butouden. Does anyone know if that episode is subbed? Also, the video the anon posted wasn't complete, anyone know where I can see the full thing?
Speaking of Super Butouden, there's gonna be some retro game event in my area and they're going to do a tournament of Super Butouden 2, I'm very excited about it, never really played against other people other than my friend (who is also gonna participate).

I liked that Rock Paper Scissor game they had on Cartoon Network website back in the day.
Felt so accomplished when I finally beat Freeza

The list says it's not subbed.
Is there a video/webm of the Turbo mode in butoden 2? I cannot get the cheat to work for some reason and curious how much faster it is
Serpentine Tower edition.
Do you think it's solvable? Are you interested in this or other seemingly unsolvable quests?
Never played Tibia. Is the mobile version worth playing? I know it's a separate server, but is gameplay the same or should I just not bother
>>3943274
Id say it likely sucks, theres too much need for space for looting and too many hotkeys for it to work properly, also targeting must be a pain in the ass too
havent tried it though
ded game

How the fuck is it possible to not like this?
Box art that shows stuff not in the game.
Misleading box art
In before Phalanx
so i don't know what you guys are up to this weekend, but apparently there's something wrong with my brain because i've decided i'm going to try a Princess-Only run on DW2.
i suspect it's literally impossible to finish the game this way no matter how patient and/or good at cheating you are, but i am curious to see how long it's going to take me to ragequit.
anyway DW2 general thread (or for that matter every Dragon Quest game thread) while i slowly slog along?
Good luck, tripfag.

>Jnes
That emulator is terrible, use a more accurate emulator like Nestopia or Mesen.
i've seen guys in the Gamefaqs forum finish the game with only Midenhall and i think only Cannock. it sounds like the process is essentially the modern equivalent of medieval catholics whipping themselves in front of a crucifix, but still somehow intriguing.
i didn't bother to look up one of those tables that predicts how your character name is going to affect other psuedo-random variables in the game, so i'm not sure what i'm going to get for picking "Noodles". i like noodles though, so that's cool.
i'm not going to bother trying to run from everything until i get the princess, so up to the Mirror of Ra i'll just play a casual game and let the boys level up and stuff.
