Personally, I go for
SNES>=PCE>Genesis

I have a strong preference for platformers, with shooters second. I like PCE more than Genny because of its action RPG's and shooters

Never heard of a modified NES version, but you can play the original arcade DK on DK64.

Try looking for Donkey Kong Original Edition. I believe that's what it's called.

Had one, only ever used it for Pinball. Preferred a D-Pad for pretty much any game.

I hate holding down a sprint button on an arcade controller.
If platformers always had sprinting enabled then I would always use an arcade controller.

Maybe it's because I never used one and I'm not much of an arcade guy, but I can't imagine any scenario where this thing would be comfortable to use.

Definitely 3, it has so much polish and gameplay. I hardly remember 2 but I know Lolo 1 is short as balls. Lolo 3 was like made late in the NES lifespan from what I remember.

I like VB and 1. 2 and 3 were too casualized by making you immortal.

I gotta go with 3. I love games where you have to backtrack to earlier levels with new abilites. People say it artificially lengthens the game, but I disagree I think it adds mystery to the experience when you see an area you can't reach yet.

This game is not that hard. Why is this a meme now? Fucking dodge. It's not that hard.

The only levels that are even slightly challenging are in World 8. The game gets boring quick with a little practice.
