Can we have an Umihara Kawase thread?
In particular, I am interested in any and all information regarding Den-Sen, in case there happens to be anything out there aside from that one video on the demo disc.
I also hear that the original prototype of Umihara Kawase was for Sharp X68K. I wonder if it's even remotely possible to get our hands on such a thing nowadays.
Something neat:
This guy's project to make stages from Shun in real life using cardboard and such.
Something else neat:
This other guy that made some rather high-quality cut out drawings of Umi.

This thread is for the spirited discussion of CRT displays - Televisions, monitors and projectors used for the playing of retro games!
>Try to keep it /vr/-related: Nothing past 5th gen(+ Dreamcast). Slight OT might be okay if related to CRTs (E.G. 16:9 compatible models, flatscreens, etc.) Systems with backwards compatibility are also pretty safe territory, assuming you're focusing on the older games. PC CRTs are also a-ok.
>Produce OC! Get out your real cameras and take beautiful pictures of your CRTs displaying recognizable characters with the kind of beautiful accuracy that brings tears to the eyes of young and old alike! If you take 100 photos, at least one of them will turn out alright! (maybe)
>Try to be as detailed as possible when asking info on a specific model. As always, google is your friend, and we are your friends with benefits. Older archived threads aren't a bad place to look either.
>Share appreciation for others choice of technology and personal philosophy of gaming. As always show courtesy in your discussion and moderate yourselves first.
Discussion of video processing and scaling devices is okay, but try to keep the focus on CRTs and CRT accessories

>what would you opt for out of CSync and Luma Sync for a PAL SNES?
Personally I just use composite video for sync unless my chosen display won't accept it (the PVM-2950 is the only one which I own where I need to do this)
I've done comparisons between all three on my BVM and found no appreciable difference in image quality.

HORSED
You see that castle out there? Cleared it of monsters when my husband and I were just kids. Helped the king and queen to finally rest in peace. Even found their tea set for them. But do they call me "Bianca the monster hunter"? No! And you see that big cat over there? I rescued him from bullies, even put a ribbon on him, but do they call me "Bianca the cat-saver"? No! And you see this world peace we're enjoying now? My son did that! And I was right there with him! Together with my daughter and husband! But do they call me "Bianca the hero mother"? No!
But you fuck one horse...

Someone do Biohazard. Literally only game I want to see.
Hi again for newcomers and those who already know how this works. I'm an anon living in Japan who has started a new hobby of going to retro game stores and posting what I find and picking things up for other anons.
I will occasionally post new photos in these threads and update this Google photo account:
https://goo gl/photos/FbAuBSgb22L1rDLf6
I removed the "." from googl so please put it back in to follow the link.
Some anons have said that they really like these pictures but the point of the thread is not to blog so let me explain how it works.
1. I will post images in these threads and answer whatever questions people have.
2. If you are interested in something, let me know here or email me at [email protected]
3. I will give you a quote with the estimated total price (I take a 13% commission but I'm completely transparent about costs).
4. If you are interested in something we will come to an agreement and you will send the money to my paypal account.
5. I will send you your stuff with a tracking number.
6. You get your stuff for cheaper than ebay prices and have a great time.
I'm only going to make this OP for now but I will dump some pictures tomorrow. For those who are interested they are already in the Google photos account.
I'm sorry for everyone that I have already been in contact with for being so slow recently but I have been busy with work and I need to talk with my bank about depositing money from PayPal in my Japanese account because it has stopped working for the time being and I don't want to drain my bank account too much picking things up for people.
I have good news in that I recently found a store with many console only original Famicoms and Super Famicoms (console only) and various accessories for only 300 yen. I apologize for anyone who has received something from me already and paid more but I do the best I can to find you the lowest prices possible.
I hope you're all having a great week.
Again, my email is [email protected]

Are there people that would look for and sell rare arcade/computer parts to America? I've been in contact with a few ebay sellers but they don't seem to find much or wont look for stuff outside of console stuff.
>>4057104
I'm not incredibly knowledgeable about computer components but I could at least look for you.
What exactly are you interested in?
>>4057650
Preferably looking for ASUS and AOpen new old stock. Do you run into 90s era computer stuff or is it all newer?
If they're hosted outside the US, how come they bend over for DMCAs?
First Nintendo, now Sony, RIP.
?
I still see roms for Nintendo and Sony on their site.
>>4145950
What Sony roms were taken down you cocksucking retard?

>>4145852
legendary pathfinding fooled them into thinking it had perfect AI
idgaf HL but that's gotta count for something
>>4145891
Don't forget scripted sequences where they're portrayed as actually not retarded. Like that one bit where you're crawling through an air vent and a soldier says "I hear something!" And then just blasts the fuck out of the vent you're in just to be safe.
Obviously a scripted sequence is not the same as good AI, but it all serves to create the idea that the soldiers aren't just the regular mindless monsters you would have been used to from other FPS games.
Does anyone here use a stick when emulating shooters?
If so, any recommendations on which one to get?
>>4145569
What game is that?
>>4145569
I can't say since I think d-pad is easier for shooters, but Hori RAP 4 Kai is a popular choice for connecting to PC. It's what I got and it's great. Just make sure to get the newer model that actually has a PC switch otherwise it might not work. The older ones had issues with that I think.
>>4145949
Rayforce, but it goes by a load of other names.
Can someone point me to where I can get a full set of PS1 Redump Isos fot the NTSC-J region? The NTSC-U set is completely up on archive.org but I cannot find the asian one.

Thanks. Is this set more or less complete? Because the current set should be about 900gb!?
>>4145029
Less complete than other ones that are accessible. A more complete one is more than likely on a private torrent tracker.
Specifically how is the Genesis emulation on the Retro Bit Generations? Trying to get an emulation console for my bf's birthday and this looked like a cheap alternative to a Pi 3 + controllers and getting physical carts of all the Genesis games he likes (Toe Jam and Earl, Shining Force 2, Contra Hard Corps, Castlevania Bloodlines, all Streets of Rage, and the Taz games are pretty expensive combined).
If its ass what do you guys recommend?
>>4144917
ya'll know where I can get one for less than $50? At that price point I might as well go for the Pi 3
>>4144913
Are you a grill?
Can someone please help me remember the name of the game. There was an old PC game I played back in the 90's you were a toy soldier on a toy island. It was a top down kids shooter and when you died your head spun around on a spring like the toy "broke".
Help me /VR/
If it helps any the game play was similar to the Lost World game on Sega

Could it be an Army Men game?
Why does this exist?
Are you supposed to figure it out on your own somehow?
Do you think there are any circumstances in which someone could have figured this out accidentally?
>Do the stage
>Die by accident
>Accidentally go up there
>WTF awesome
Yeah it could happen
>>4144491
You have to have everything, and then jump off 4 times in a row though
>>4144491
>Do the stage (after already beating it)
>Have all the health and power upgrades
>Die by accident 3 times
>Accidentally get up there on 4th try
>WTF how was anyone supposed to figure this out.
ftfy
What am I looking at here?
Even as a kid I couldn't figure out what's on the right half.

Yep
No argument here.
