Is traveling in Central America or Mexico better?

I want to experience Mayan culture, trek through jungles, explore ruins, meet locals, snorkel with colorful fish, step on white sand beaches, and do it all cheaply. Would Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, or Costa Rica be best for this? Or perhaps even some place in the Caribbean?

>Nicaragua, Costa Rica
No Mayan culture.

>El Salvador, Honduras
Only in the west.

I have only been to Mexico of all these countries, and only in the northern states of the Yucatan Peninsula. It was worth it, but there were many oher tourists. I imagine Calakmul would be your thing, but I haven't been there.

Lived in mexico for some years and would suggest to visit Chichen Itza and Tulum which are both overwhelming but also overrun by tourists- Palenque was not so touristic and really awesome. In Guatemala I've been to Tikal which was the most impressive and just a little bit more crowded than Palenque. So maybe I'd suggest Quintana Roo in Mexico and northern Guatemala.

Three day trip, I want to try reefer and magic truffels, bang a hot local girl. Never done any degenerate drugs.

I had a hotel recommendation from this board, Van Der something.

Is the main airport near the city? Any cheap electronic or watches compared to finland or the rest of europe?

Any must see things?

Lets not kid ourselves here, if you do go you're going to spend the whole time inside your hotel room listening to other have fun, crying and shitposting on 4chan. You can do all those things at home too so don't bother going.

Schiphol Airport is 30minutes from Amsterdam Central.

Magic truffels should be done in the forest or dune, not in the loud city.

What are your tips for long-haul flights? I always pack a few essentials in my carry-on bag, but am interested in hearing other people's tips.

I pack:
>sleep mask
>ear plugs
>mask to cover mouth and nose
>neck pillow
>chamomile tea bag
>hoodie
>slippers
>shower body wipes
>mouthwash

What do you pack for long flights, layovers, and other long-distance travels?

I usually do a few lunges down the aisle. When it opens out a bit, there's more space and you can do some squats and burpees.

So at this moment I'm planning a travel itinerary to go to Scotland in mid to late May with my uncle and while I have an idea of where to stay in Glasgow I'm not too sure about what hotel options are like in Islay and Campbeltown.

I'm hoping to check out Springbank and the Port Ellen distilleries (Laphroaig, Ardbeg and Lagavulin) at least and I'm wondering if anyone can share some experiences or tips as to how to efficiently and cost effectively find a hotel in these semi-rural parts of Scotland?

Sup OP, I lived in Glasgow for a year. I've never been to those isles but when I was in Skye and the northern parts of scotland most of the lodging options were Bed and Breakfasts, which are run by local families. I would look into that instead of hotels which are very far and between

What kinds of restaurants and bars do you like? My personal favorite bars are Molotov's, a sort of punk/dive bar in the Lower Haight (on Haight St., near Fillmore), its sister bar Lucky 13, also sort of a punk/rocker dive bar but with an excellent beer list (on Market St near... probably 15th? Sanchez? Not sure, but it's easy to find--just a few blocks, perhaps five minutes' walk, from the aforementioned), and The Residence, on 14th near Market, where the Lower Haight/Duboce Triangle starts to bleed into the Castro, which is not divey but is pretty low-key and interesting. If you are a beer person, Toronado, also on Haight near Fillmore (more or less across the street from Molotov's) has the best beer list in the city--a few dozen taps and a great bottle list that you can take away).

But these are just my neighborhood and my preferences. Hints would be useful.

As far as food goes, where are you from and what do you like to eat? We've got great, dirt-cheap Vietnamese sandwiches in the Little Saigon bit of the Tenderloin (a famously sketchy neighborhood downtown, adjacent to Union Square, which is not as dangerous as it is depressing---you'll meet a lot of dealers, addicts, and low-end prostitutes, but probably won't get hurt, and it's also home to a growing bar/nightlife and restaurant scene). Lots of very affordable Chinese food, although it's a lot better in the less-scenic Richmond or Sunset neighborhoods (just North or South of Golden Gate Park, respectively) than in Chinatown, which is still sort of fun and scenic for a wander even if it's 90% tourist garbage and 10% FOB Chinese life. Good Korean in Japantown. Famous, very good but not to everyone's taste burritos and tacos in the Mission (everyone has a favorite taqueria--mine is Pancho Villa, on 16th between Valencia and Mission, with the much grungier and cheaper El Farolito, on Mission at 24th a close second).

We've also got fancy stuff. But everything above should be pretty cheap.

I have the same thing in Helsinki (16 hour layover). For a more comfortable stay I booked the FINNAIR lounge. I really hope it is as great as I hope it is.
