Hey /trv/ college student making a big life choice here and I need your well traveled knowledge.
>About to get into the college I want to transfer into
>due to my grades know I can get a scholarship
>Planning to minor in either chinese, Korean or Japanese
>Already have a few credits in chinese and have been to china 3 times
>Know I can live a full comfortable life in china
>But also really want to study in korea or japan
>But whichever country I choose I may end up living in for a few years.

I don't know which country to choose but I need to start studying now so I can know the language of which ever one I choose. So my question to you fine people of /trv/ is which country will I have the best time living?

I've dated girls from china and korea and I know china is super fun and I hear Korea is a great place to party but has shit work culture. But I do not know much about japan. (other than the fact that no one says anything good about them in asia.)

Please help.

Probably Japan is the best to live in. But Korea has a better nightlife and cheaper.
>>
If you have fun in China and can cope with all its problems, that's what I'd go for if I were you.
China is a world power with the potential to outgrow the western world, and knowing the language and having experience with the culture is probably going to be handy in the future - job prospects, etc.
Your other choices are way less relevant.
>>

Korea and japan are some of the economic tigers of asia no no where near irrelevant. China also is destroying their country with hard core pollution. I love china but these are facts so I'm asking people who have preferably been to all 3.

If any of you expats lived in one place long enough to acquire allot of stuff... how did you manage to decide what is essentials to take back home with you?

I got a bunch of shit all over this apartment and I been selling what I can .. but there is no goddamn way I will fit my stuff in 2 50lb luggage and 2 carry ons.

any advice?
16 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
I'm doing the same process at the moment.
Not sure how I will manage, but I think I'm getting close to the 2 check in and 2 carry on size.

I first sold what I could sell. Ate what I could eat. Gave away things to friends that were open to receive stuff. And then I still had 3 times the amount of stuff at least....
Sent home some books that I thought I couldn't repurchase/find online.
Donated all the rest to charity shops.
Clothes, travel gear, make up, electronics, sports equipment, luckily I mostly had cheap ones so I was okay with donating the vast majority of it.
Now I'm contemplating over my 4 season bivvy gear, it's probably going to be one piece of luggage by itself...
Kitchen gear and furniture is also to be donated or sold.

I just asked myself if I really needed all that stuff... But I don't, it's just hoarding.

If you think your stuff is all necessary, get a moving company or ship some stuff via post/UPS/DHL/whatever.

Sometimes I just give away crap. Screw the losses.

I figure I'll just hire a moving company. (Or just let my new employer do that)

Anyone has been in Malta? Especially in February, for a spontaneous trip since we didnt plan normally to go abroad for that week.

Seems very cheap, nice landscape for videos and pictures.

Do we need a car or can we take the public bus without any problems?

Any stories to share? Are there " party locations "? And how open minded are the people there?

the whole island is very touristy, people are very open minded, as it's a huge tourist destination, you can take the public bus usually, on gozo you can basically walk everywhere..

Yo, Swede living in Sliema.
I would go to Malta in April-May, since it will be hot and not too packed with tourists.

Paceville in St. Julians will have raves, stripclubs and cheep booze.

You shall go for a hotel in near Sliema, close to party, food and culture.

Buses go pretty much all the time, and most of the stuff to do is in the Sliema area, so you can pretty much walk where ever you want.

How old are you? What do you like? I can give you some tips

Hey /trv/,

In March I will be in Paris for the first time and am wondering what to see and what to leave out as I am only there from the 13th (flight arrives at CDG at 11:15 am) to the evening of the 15th (flight departs CDG at 6:10 PM).

I'm a big Monet fan and wanted to take a side trip to Giverny but that might need to be put on hold until a later trip. Is the Louvre doable with such little time? I'm not opposed to skipping it as well for a later trip when I can go at a more relaxed pace. Any itineraries you would recommend?

>>
>>1203734
You kinda need a whole day for the Louvre unless you want to skip major sections. Just make sure you book ahead or buy a Paris pass (or whatever they are called) that gets you entry to museums w/o having to wait in line, because you will loose a lot of time otherwise. And it's best to go early in the morning, to be there as soon as it opens, not midday when lines are really long
>>
>>1203734
If you really want to see some Monet, go to Musée Marmottan.
Giverny is nice but honestly, for a first time in Paris, you'll have enough to deal with during only three days. You could spend days in the Louvre, you can also stay there only 3 hours if you've got specific interests.
I'd say keep Giverny for a next trip, when you have more time. It's quite "touristy", you could have bad weather, it's quite far away from Paris and needs some hours (one to go, one to return, more or less 2-3 on site and surroundings). I don't think it's the best use of time for only three days in Paris.
>>
>>1205094
Also, next to the Louvre, at the Musée de l'Orangerie, you've got the Nymphéas by Monet. I think it would be better to visit during the day, because once it's night time, the light isn't really good.
Also, if you happen to be under 25 years old and from European Union, most of Paris' museums are free.

She's basically a "casual" traveler.

It happens everywhere all over the world.

Lots of Japanese people never leave Japan, but still make a trip to Kyoto or Okinawa.

Many Chinese people go to Hong Kong and/or Macau, and call that a trip.

The ultimate vacation spot for many Koreans is Jejudo.

I would even go as far as to say that your friend is more well-traveled than a good number of tourists. Assuming she's American, at least she has a large chunk of land to explore.

So I want to go to North Korea.

I know they do allow tourists, but no one I know has been and everybody seems to think it's a bad idea. I've done a little research and it seems like it'd be fairly safe, so long as I made sure to follow their customs and keep my westernised mouth shut.

Has anyone on /trv/ been there? Any experiences/advice/stories?

Watch 2 or 3 tourist videos of NK and you'll quickly realize it's a waste of time and money.
The same thing every time, you won't be special if you do it.
You aren't in danger at any point.
You don't get any bragging rights.

Any retard can go. Pick something actually interesting instead of le spooky mysterious country that's playing you like a fiddle for them sweet amurrican dorrars to support them.

I've been to DPRK, as have a few other posters on /trv/. It's really a no-brainer. Find a tour company, book a tour with them, go on tour. That's all there is to it. The program is decided for you so you don't have to think about where to go.

Hope you like drinking lots of beer.

Why would your customer hire you at first world wages, when he can get someone in near him or pay 3rd world wages for an indian?

Because
1) Distance is not relevant on the internet
2) He would have to deal with an Indian with shaky English, questionable skills, a chip on his shoulder, and a non-existent work ethic

I've hosted and stayed though couchsurfing a bunch. It's a great way to experience places and people if you have the right mentality, know how to connect with anyone and aren't just looking for free food and board like a miserable bastard.
If these things are in check, then host a few travelers at your place, get references on the site that will prove your trustworthiness to hosts you want to surf with. Vet their profile by reading them carefully, there's a fair few weirdos about.

Post your nationality, and then your favorite and least favorite nationalities to encounter while traveling.

Me: American
Favorite: Germanbros. Sure, some German guys can have turboautism, but the normal ones are really adventurous and sometimes weird/strange but in a good way. And German girls are usually nice and have a sense of humor.
Least Favorite: Australians. The females can sometimes be ok but the men are, almost without exception, overgrown high schoolers who care about little else but binge drinking their way around the world. They've all got huge egos, regardless of how deserved it is too.

American

Favorite: Australians, always chill as fuck and fun to hang out with

Lease Favorite: British. Always open the conversation up with some smug comment about America. Their women are abbo tier
>>
>>1197691
Me: Dutch
Fav: German. I never see a group of screaming drunk germans abroad. Can have sanctemonious vibe (hippies, extreme lefties). Thats mostly my fault, I like hanging out with those people.
Worst: French or Spanish. Cannot speak english, not even young people.
>>
Norwegian.

Best: Germans and Dutch, always fun to be around, and the girls are fun, also Finnish, binge drinkers but in a good way

Worst: French, clinically unable to speak about anything other than France and always stick to their own, and Japanese, just super weird people. Once shared a dorm with a Japanese dude in Riga, he was "travering Europe", he sat in his room all day on his computer, and left the next morning. Have met a few obnoxious Brits and Australians as well, though only when traveling in groups of 10 dudes, pub crawling their way around the world. Solo travelers seems to be fine.

I am new to flying and want to make sure I am prepared. I looked around on the internet and have a mixed selection of advice from what I have found.
From the airline's website it did mention getting there 2 hours early. Here is what I need to know.

My airline allows for a carry on bag and a purse. I want to bring my laptop, headphones and movies in my carry on to watch something while I'm in the air. Does it have to be charged and do I let them know there is a laptop in the bag before it's scanned?

Can I bring my medication on with my carry on or does it have to be in my luggage?

I am likely going to be experiencing Panic attacks in the air as I am terrified of heights and to force myself to get over it, I put myself by a window seat. Any advice on how to over come it?

Bring a CCW with at least 4mags (you won't be allowed onto your flight without one) and if anyone ask you about it open fire at random and go for the high score. Just mag dump on those fuckers it's expected and everyone does that.
You might want to bring a privacy shield so you can jerk off to loli animu durng take off and land no fucks given. You're good to just fap away after take off, it's your right and duty.
Your medication is a jewish trick, don't fall for it. If you experience anxiety during the flight just use your CCW and put a round into your temple to calm you down.

Enjoy your flight.

>Any advice on how to over come it?
Break the feedback loop that causes panic attacks and they will stop happening. Breathing exercises and mindfulness work for that.

>Be Briton, in Canada for 2 weeks for holiday
>Go to any given local pub
>Size of an airplane hangar
>Bartender is ALWAYS female, looks/acts like a prostitute

What sort of fucked up Central pub are you at. Try going to the local themed ones and not the ones that are flopped all over on the internet. Also, Go fuck yourself. Nearly every bar or pub in Canada has sport TV's. We don't dress up to go drink, I'm nearly convinced this is bait.
