Tape your logos
Don't walk around with it round your neck unneccesarily
Wear both straps of your backpack
Walk on the side of the pavement away from the road
Generally be aware of your surroundings

handcuff your camera to your hand, that way it'll force you to get better at photography too.
I usually don't ask for advice on /p/, but is this photo just a normal LR/PS luminosity tweak, or did the photographer use a lens filter and shallow depth of field to achieve it? Google wasn't really helpful in finding an answer for this one.

everything is in focus though

It seems like the windows are fitted with a white paper layer or film which acts like a huge softbox.
Other than that its just proper exposition.

Noob here. I took this picture of my cat the other day. It's hardly noticable, but there's a bright dot near his whiskers, on the right side of his face (left side in the photo). Anyone know why that is there?

Your sensor is faulty. It will spread overtime, best sell your camera while it's still hardly noticeable and buy a M43, smaller sensor = less chance of defect.

I just checked, and that same bright dot is in the same spot in several other photos that I've taken.

Don't use the memory card in it in other devices with digital cameras. There have been some cases where this failure can be kicked off in other devices via metadata stored on the card. One of my friends lost a 1DmIII, 5DmIII, and a 70D because of this.
Nikon D7100: Still worth it in 2017?
My full budget is 1000€, and the camera and lens cost 920€, leaving 80€ for the memory card and tripod.
Should I go for the D7200, 2 years younger but not much better, as well as being about 300€ more?
>>3110612
7200 refurb
Do you need megapixels? You can get a d90 for almost free.
>>3110612
The differences are here:
https://photographylife.com/nikon-d7200-vs-d7100
I'd surely prefer the D7200. Except that I actually prefer the A6300 or A6500 if not a FF camera. But your needs may obviously be different from mine.
You are on a mission to take pictures around the world, your sponsor gives you 20k USD and you can spend it as follows :
1. You can only buy 2 cameras
2. You can only buy 2 lenses for each camera
3. You have to visit at least 5 countries
Explain briefly your choices .

I've never even looked at anything that expensive, so I wouldn't know where to start.
Well I've got cameras and money, the only thing I don't have is time. But going with the setting, I'd say a 500c/m with a 80mm and a 150mm, and that's enough, and visit Norway, Iceland, Tierra del Fuego (if that counts as 2 countries, only the Argentinean part), Tibet, and, hmm... the Antarctic if it counts?

If this is what this photo is about, then no, it's not a good photo. That "bee" takes up a tiny fraction of the frame, whereas the rest of the frame is useless flowers that draw away attention from the subject you really wanted to show.
I don't know what camera+lens you used, but I guess it lacks macro capabilities and you weren't able to get closer.
>>3108452
It does lack Macro. Thanks for the info.

If you didn't tell me it's a bee I wouldn't know what the fuck those black pixels were. It's a bad photo for sure.

/p/ I need some advice. I'll keep this short.
My Fuji X100S has fucked itself. I've decided it's not worth the $to repair, and I would be better of selling it dead on ebay.
I was going to replace it with a Ricoh GR II
However, I also own a D7000 with several lenses, and am kinda getting sick of lugging so much gear around. So I also have the idea of selling every piece of photographic equipment I own and going to an APS-C mirrorless system.
What would you do /p/?
A.) Keep the D7000, sell the dead X100S for parts, and buy a Ricoh GR II
B.) Sell it all, and go APS-C mirrorless, such as XT-1
Thanks
keep the d7000, wait a few months for the GR III to come out.
or buy an x100f.
>>3105430
The difference between APS-C mirrorless and fullframe mirrorless is minor, so I'd say it is at least worth the wait to see if Sony's upcoming a7iii will be any good.
Also go X-T2, not T1.
Otherwise yea, I'd say go all in for mirrorless. I'd keep some of my dslr lenses if they were any good though.

Noone wants to set a their photo as their homescreen ???
I think it would be a challenge for people if they personalized their own work...not just throw out a photo somewhere online amd get likes or views...
It's like printing your photo and looking at it.
I think it's a nice way of rating your own creation. So yeah just a thought

Nikon f4 for $150 canada bux a good deal? When purchasing a used slr how to check everything is in working order?
>>3111579
>Nikon f4 for $150 canada bux a good deal?
Yes. No. Not bad.
>When purchasing a used slr how to check everything is in working order?
Well you cant completely. Depends on where you are buying it from and what guarantees that route provides. Honestly though, if you're going f4 you might as well save up and get an F5. Its not much more and its the best price/quality ratio in the f4/5/6 range.
Best to check the film advance cogs and teeth when you receive it. Make sure they're all in order and working.
>>3111589
Incorrect, f100 best value
>>3111579
the f4 is the ugliest camera Nikon has ever made and yes I know about the Df.
the owner should pay you $150 to take it away it is such a fucking awful camera
literally look for any other f body than the f4
I know this is not much related to the act of photography but I was wondering if you guys know any photographer or a site, book, or something which likes to take pics of random objects from all kind of angles, as in to show them. Like pic related but with real objects
here is photographer for random places (it's limited to japan tho) https://kazucamera.tumblr.com
or random ppl (it's limited to new work ppl tho)
http://oh-hi.info/2016_9-12
but I am looking for random objects too. If they are from more angles and by category even better, they can be random too if each pic has more than one angle like in pic related.
if you are wondering they are for education purpose, /ic/ didn't help me much. I like to learn to draw by putting pics in a slideshow with irfanview and randomizing them.
should I bother with keeping my thread up for a few days?
