Should I buy a new Nikon D5300 for $411 with a sense or spend about $100 more on a Sony a6000 for my first camera.

Should I buy a brand new nikon d5300 with 18-55mm kit lens for $440, a used nikon d3300 with 35mm lense for $450, or save up for a fuji x-t1?

What would you guys do with this image, particularly the dead dark-space to the left, in post proc?
Cropping? Level adjustment? Highlights? What's your general go-to or thought process for dark areas?
One thing that frustrates me is getting contrast without darkening the image heavily. What do?

Bumping with a few snaps from a local abandoned village and mental asylum where they've filmed a few horror movies over the years.
Tips for abandoned stuff also appreciated- I find the general rule of thumb for making them dark and applying a yellow rustic filter is generally terrible

is 12MP enough by today's standards? the a7s/d700 are incredible camera and acceptably modern but some clients want +16MP. However i could just upscale it in photoshop, how acceptable would that be in terms of quality?

If your client wants 16MP, get a camera that can shoot 16MP, simple as that.
>>3111151
Obviously if your client wants more resolution, you use a higher resolution camera with a matching lens.
For me personally, it's not only having the option for a high resolution image. I also simply crop so often that I very much *want* sharp glass and well over 12MP on the sensor.
I have a question (I'm new in this hobby)
There's companies that still making film cameras?

Making film cameras? Yes.
Making good film cameras? Outside of Leica, no.
Nikon still makes the F6, and Cosina still makes the FM10 for them along with other companies such as Vivitar, Leica still makes the MP and M7, Lomo is obviously still on their bullshit, and I think Cosina is still making the R4 for Voigtlander.
i've always wanted to get into film photography but never wanted to make the initial investment of buying a film camera and film but today at a tag sale a guy sold me a bag of cameras for $25 (pic related is the contents)
i know absolutely nothing about film photography or development but want to learn how to do experimental shit with film -- how do i go about this? also, are these cameras any good? googling their model numbers give very generic results and i can't tell what sort of stuff i'm working with
also, what's the best place online to learn about how to use/maintain/troubleshoot these?
You just blow in from stupid town, my dude?

yeah, i usually go on /mu/

post better pics of the cameras.
Does anyone know if a 24mm lens would be wide enough when a dslr is suction cupped to the interior windshield of a car to get a good shot of the driver and passenger?
Depends on the angle you can manage to shoot at and if it is a full frame DSLR. I was able to get both front seats in frame putting the camera on the dashboard of my honda civic just to the right of the steering wheel with a 24mm lens. I dont know if you would be able to do it with 35 even on a full frame. That cars dash was really deep too so the camera was like 3 and a half feet away from me when resting on the dash and i still was just able to get both seats in the frame.
I'll be using an a7sII so it's full frame.
You'll need something about 17-20mm on FF
I bought this unoriginal hood for my kit lenses 18-55 but I can't put this thing on
Did I buy wrong one or there is some special way to put this on?

Just use some duct tape

Is it the right size for your lens?
How do you get this sort of aesthetic in photos? Seems like it's probably just heavy post-processing... But is there any trick for shooting the photo? Ex. time of day, exposure settings, etc?
Will post a couple more examples.

STOP FUCKING SHOUTING!
Your lenses are fine.
The 5D2 is still a very capable camera. Still preferable to some of the so-called more technologically advanced meme cameras that are around today. Just understand it's limitations and it will serve you well.
So no you don't NEED a new camera. You might want one though. There is a difference
>>3110188
As far as I'm concerned, the 5D II sucks, your lenses are mostly okay.
YMMV.

>>3110079

First for an honest answer:
These are made to have perfectly printed colors that are constant card to card, also the 18% gray is made to reflect exactly 18% of all light that shines on it. Basically the tolerances, and the fact that a handfull of brands make it make them so expensive
i was stupid faggot when 2 years ago i bought Sony A7r. now im selling this shit and get nice Panasonic GM1 with 20mm and 14mm pancake lenses.
okay
maybe i write more.
i think i was fooled to a "full frame quality". of course FF is fucking brilliant. but its not worth extra money if you dont shoot commercially.
for everyday shooting m43 is cheap, light and best option.
>>3109977
yeah but you'll get gimped by shitty ergonomics and no good framing devices
m43 really is bitch sized, you might as well shoot a 1" or a phone at that point
get a gr and an optical viewfinder
