hey /p/ I've got a troubleshooting question for Lightroom. When converting to jpeg I've noticed a massive drop in quality from the nef files after exporting, is this just going to happen? or is there a way to combat this? I'll post a couple of the images it's most notable in.

There's your problem.
what does /p/ think of the NIKON P900?? want sumthin with same type of zoom...any other alternatives?
>>2985354
It's a bridge camera. All the drawbacks of a DSLR, none of the advantages. Same shitty sensor and noise performance of a compact point and shoot.
Get a beginner DSLR instead like a D3300 with kit lens and get a consumer telezoom like the 55-300 or Tamron 70-300 VC
>>2985409
Forgot to mention the superzoom lens design means it is full of distortion and color aberrations meaning the image is soft and has weird color outlines and very dark meaning the sensor produces a lot of noise even in daylight.
The resulting image is dogshit.
If you want a decent and easy to use camera get a small compact point and shoot instead.
What I think of it:
It's an oversized point and shoot designed for people to buy it and upload a video of zooming in on something far away on youtube to give it free advertising so more dumbasses buy it and the cycle repeats.
Alternatives:
1. Get a Canon PowerShot SX50 HS for $200 off eBay, it has more than enough zoom and doesn't cost $600
2. Get an interchangeable lens camera and a telephoto, plus a 2x converter if you need more zoom.
For the Magnum agency the human condition has been reduced to migrants problems, migrants concerns, identity politics and so on.
What went wrong?
Interesting light, some careful placement in consideration with leading lines. And there's a message, it's shot with a purpose.
Nice pic.

Are you indecisive /p/? How do you stop from being indecisive about what was the best shot you took during a shoot? I feel it is a problem i need to get over, i dont have the confidence to decide for sure which looks the best for me to present

i dont. im just honest with what i see. a shit shot is shit, meh is meh, a good shot just pops at you.
sometimes the shit shot is clean, and the good shot has some stupid unfixable elements that kill the composition and you are left with nothing and you have to live with it and move on.
>>2985090
This.
It is what it is. Just keep making decisions.
To be overly cautious early on is perhaps natural, but keep making those "hard" decisions and you'll find a natural rhythm and get faster at it.
Listen to what makes people go oohhhh without compromising on what you want too.
If you're just posting for giggles then don't? If you actually care about building a base then you need to be honest with yourself. Be willing to call entire outings a wash because they will be and often if you're shooting landscapes.
Haven't done this since I got my first batch of photos, but I've nothing to do for the next hour
SO, here's some of my photos.

Hey /p/,
not sure if this is the right board but I figured someone here would be able to help me. I want to make posters out of these two images I found online. Assuming there's no copyright issues because I don't intend to distribute them, how would I print these large enough to look good on my wall but not drastically drop in quality? I'll post both of the pics just for reference and file size

Decent quality prints are 300dpi.
So the first pic you're limited to about 6", the second about 10".
If you want bigger, you will need better quality files.

I don't know anything about photography, but I'm looking to get into it and don't want to spend my money on shit that I'll regret buying. can anyone recommend a good pleb tier camera to start with that I won't end up having to replace once I start getting more serious?

I love my fuji x-e1 and all but its goddamn huge?!
Was at the store and tried out the a6000, it feels so much lighter and less bulky and more responsive in a way. even saw the olympus em 10 mk2, which i thought looked enormous on pictures, and it was small as a toy!
why are the fuji mirrorless so large?

Hey /b/
I've been wanting to offer local photography services, primarily animal portraits. Will you guys tell me what you think/how I can improve and what I'm doing wrong. These are mostly of my own dog.
Also, I'm wondering, do I charge people by the hour or by the photo? And what's an outrages amount to expect for such a service?
Thanks in advance.

Our wedding photographer was amazing.
In his contract he was to be there from 08:30am to 08:30pm. He was there from 08:00am to 11:30pm. In the contract he was supposed to give us 350 edited photos, he gave us over 750.
Above all else, the photos were fantastic.

Just recommend him on Facebook. Be sure to credit his photography page (with a link!) if you post his photos. Word of mouth is all a local photog needs.

>I don't know how to do a favour for a photographer.
Give him a negative review and badmouth him whenever you can. Say he was pushy and tried too hard while delivering subpar results shot from only a 5dmIII. Make sure to mention his lazy ass being too cheap to own a real lens and using a zoom (lol is he a soccer mom).
Maybe then Kim can get a real photography job.
Sup /p/, need guidance to recover photos from a dead hard drive. Its partitioned into two disks, C for windows, D for shit. C got fucked and i had sensible stuff stored there. It gives me messages of "cyclic redundancy, wanna format bro?".
What software or procedure should i use to recover whats inside the C partition?
pic unrelated.
gib help, faggots.
>>2983783
Put it in another machine, recover/backup your personal data, get new hard drive.
Not fucking rocket science mate
FileScavenger, I paid for mine but you can find cracked versions on Piratebay
Testdisk is another one that's breddy gud. If you're not getting those errors on the D partition the physical drive is okay which is a big plus and FS should be able to recover everything. Do it ASAP and do both from a different computer. Once you have recovered all the data you want then run Testdisk and scan for bad sectors. Disk Recoup is another one that works with drives that have physical damage to them if the first two do nothing try that.
Am I the only one who finds the X-T1 to be a lot worse for manually focusing than the first gen Fuji X cameras? I found no one else complaining about this so maybe there's some kind of setting hidden in the menus I missed? I'm using the latest firmware (5.00).
The main problem for me is the implementation of focus magnification on the X-T1 (focus peaking is too inaccurate/misleading in my experience).
When I use the highest magnification on the X-T1, the image becomes incredibly pixelated, causing all kinds of hideous moiré-like artifacts and making it very hard to see fine detail and nail the focus. It looks pretty much like they just render a small section of the regular view and stretch it to fill the screen. The pixelation is even obvious in "dual mode" and lower magnification modes.
On the other hand, on my X-E1 the magnified view is always perfectly clear and rendered at full resolution, though it's obviously laggier even in good light.
This is the main reason I still find using the X-E1 with manual lenses much more enjoyable, even though the lag is annoying and the write speed infuriatingly slow.
Another thing: is there a way to store different Auto ISO settings on the X-T1? On the X-E1 I had multiple custom C settings each with a different minimum shutter speed in the auto ISO for different focal lengths, which was very convenient.

>NGC 4696: Filaments around a Black Hole
>What's happening at the center of elliptical galaxy NGC 4696? There, long tendrils of gas and dust have been imaged in great detail as shown by this recently released image >from the Hubble Space Telescope. These filaments appear to connect to the central region of the galaxy, a region thought occupied by a supermassive black hole. Speculation >holds that this black hole pumps out energy that heats surrounding gas, pushes out cooler filaments of gas and dust, and shuts down star formation. Balanced by magnetic >fields, these filaments then appear to spiral back in toward and eventually circle the central black hole. NGC 4696 is the largest galaxy in the Centaurus Cluster of Galaxies, >located about 150 million light years from Earth. The featured image shows a region about 45,000 light years across.
One of my favoite
>Arp 240: A Bridge between Spiral Galaxies from Hubble
>Why is there a bridge between these two spiral galaxies? Made of gas and stars, the bridge provides strong evidence that these two immense star systems have passed close to each other and experienced violent >tides induced by mutual gravity. Known together as Arp 240 but individually as NGC 5257 and NGC 5258, computer modelling and the ages of star clusters indicate that the two galaxies completed a first passage >near each other only about 250 million years ago. Gravitational tides not only pulled away matter, they compress gas and so caused star formation in both galaxies and the unusual bridge. Galactic mergers are >thought to be common, with Arp 240 representing a snapshot of a brief stage in this inevitable process. The Arp 240 pair are about 300 million light-years distant and can be seen with a small telescope toward the >constellation of Virgo. Repeated close passages should ultimately result in a merger and with the emergence of a single combined galaxy. Free Download: APOD 2017 Calendar: NASA Images
