The 50th anniversary of the Patterson-Gimlin Bigfoot footage is this coming October 20th. Have any of you ever caught anything strange/impossible to explain on camera?

Real or fake /p/?
I saw a picture of me smiling once
Didn't believe it not for one second
So I have a question: how to get some followers on Instagram? I had been having an Instagram page since 2014 but started taking photos profesionally this year. I get 80-100 likes per post but I think I can do a little better. What can you recommend me to get more followers? Also I included printscreen of my last photos.
Good photos properly hashturged
you can only post so many pics of your cat. also try collabing with someone with a lot more followers. a shout out can help
>>3138953
The first thing to think about before even posting a photo is what is the ultimate goal?? Answer: get more followers. How do you get more followers? Answer: get seen by more people. That is the only real thought process behind this guide, so if you don't like those two answers, you can also fuck off, why are you even reading this?
I will now list out the steps as clearly as I can, and attempt to leave no questions by the end of the post
Step 1: Have good content
This should be obvious. You can't put out shit content and expect people to applaud your failure as a photographer. Your photos should represent the best of what you have to offer using your camera. But having good content doesn't just mean having good photos, it means that you must also have content that is CONSISTENT. So if you're serious about having a landscape photography Instagram page, only post landscape photography, and nothing else. Think about it from the followers perspective, they saw a cool picture you took of a lake or something and liked it enough to say "I want to see more pictures of lakes and nature just like this!!" Why the fuck would they want to see a picture of your coffee in the morning, or why would they want to see some street """"""""""photography""""""""""? Pro-tip, they don't. Keeping your content consistent will keep these people interested in your content and continue to interact. I will explain later why it's so important to have your followers continue to interact.

How the hell does Gregory Crewdson do it?
How does he achieve that look? Even with medium format how can he capture that dynamic range? I assume it's some kind of HDR and an incredible amount of high end post-production work?
>>3139949
1, he uses portra on large format, probably 8x10.
2. he controls every aspect of the photograph, both indoor and outdoor lightning, and can match the brightness from outside and inside, so dynamic range is a non issue for him.
3, his work is boring and kitch, and relies solely on the percieved merit of 'hard work'. ive never ever looked at one of his pictures and actually felt something, everything is just mimicking emotion, without having anything interesting to say.
4, his firefly pictures are really great. and probably better than anything he'll ever do with a large format camera.
portra 8x10 and bracketted multicomposite shots. lots of pp by 3rd party.
>>3139961
All of his photography is third party. He doesn't even touch the camera.
Anyway, crewdson sucks. Shit looks like a low budget episode of x files.

Why would you bother with taking photos? Is it your job? Do you do it so you can post them on social media and derive your self worth from likes? Do you make prints of them? Do you do it to make art? Do you just do it for yourself? Why do you do it /p/?

What programs are you using?
What sources did you learn from and what would you recommend to a beginner?
I have years of experience with Adobey package, but since I only recently got into photography, I haven't used Lightroom before.
I can't find a working torrent for it, though, so I'm wondering, are there some good alternatives for it? How about Capture One? I got some entry-level license for it with my camera, but didn't think about using it. Now I might give it a chance. Are there some good completely free programs?
Post-production general I guess.
One more thing we could talk about - what are some hipster edits you can't stand anymore? Something that beginners should stand away from? I know I'm pretty sick of those weak contrasty snapshots.

Literally why I still have a D200 for some things.
I'm having a hard time deciding between the Canon M5 and the Sony a6500.
I'm a novice photographer, still using a T3i. I don't shoot video, but I do shoot landscapes, portraits, and product photos. I just graduated and wanted to treat myself to a MILC and I've narrowed it to these choices.
>M5
+ cheaper (by about CDN$700)
+ flip out touchscreen
+ all my Canon glass will work well with a $150 adapter
+ higher quality EVF
+ three dials
- IBIS for video only (useless for me)
- EOS-M lenses don't interest me beyond a couple
>a6500
+ can disable shutter sounds
+ like 50x the focus points
+ touted as best AF in price range
+ IBIS for stills (from what I understand)
+ access to Sony repertoire of lenses
- pricetag
- CDN$350 adapter to use existing Canon glass is hit-or-miss
Over here, the M5 is almost half the price ($1000 vs $1700) for a body only and in reviews, it seems like it's very good for the cost. But the a6500 I think is better overall in sharpness and low-light performance? I've read it can handle higher ISOs well, even when I typically don't go above 800 or so.
Really what's pushing me to a6500 is the AF and IBIS, whereas the M5 pretty much does everything else equally as well from what I can tell.
What should I do? Anyone here used both and can suggest one or the other? I'm looking at it from a feature perspective and an economic one: the $700 I save ($900 after saving $200 on the adapter, too), I could get a nice L lens or a Sigma Art something or other and have some leftover. But I fear I'll be missing out if the a6500 is objectively superior.
I wanted to add that while I've looked at the Sony FF, they don't really interest me.
>I have very few lenses that work with FF
>crop mode means loss of fidelity (lower MP, right?)
>expensive FF lenses don't align with my budget either now or down the line
I've seen used a7 and a7ii for comparable prices but the above factors are making me steer clear.
>>3140355
Crop is a false economy, crop lenses will soon be dead. At the current rate the aps-c market will account for less than 20% of camera sales within 5 years as people would rather use full frame or their phone. Imagine what happens to your crop lens prices when that happens.
Sell up now, sell everything that is crop, you will still get back 70-80% of your original cost.
Get a 2nd hand a7ii, it's cheaper than the a6500 and shits all over it if video isn't important.
