Depends on the light but f16/pump your iso a bit so you can get a fast shutter speed. Keep it on AP and prefocus to a distance you can accurately guess. If you are a pussy shoot from the hip but get your widest lens and get close as you can.

buy something that will make you feel great about carrying it. be it comfort or confidence. you'll be surprised by how that feelings can change the way you see things and shoot them. and that's essential in street photog.

Picked up a Grii a couple months ago for a travel camera. Here's a couple pics from Alaska, and others from British Columbia. I dont usually do landscape photo's but they're a lot of fun to do on a small camera and tripod.

Honestly, while I'm sure it would be useful for lots of people, I can't imagine you'll be able to draw any kind of crowd unless you've already got a few thousand subs.
Mostly because I don't know where you'd advertise it.
But I think it's something people could benefit from if youre good at what you do.

current gear:

pentax gear:

My a6000 hasn't impressed me too much, and am eyeing up the pixelshift + stabilization + weather resistance of the pentax for rough weather conditions.

I feel I bought into a meme with the a6000. But am I being a Luddite in wanting Pentax?

Other suggestions (budget ~ $500 + w/e I can sell my a6000 + rok for)???

Okay, so, this is off topic from your question, but:

I'm a Canon shooter, with a 5D Mark III and three L lenses and a bunch of other lenses (50/1.4, 85/1.8, etc). I am a serious photographer who does a lot of serious photography.

But every goddamn time I see those clown factory explosion wacky colored Pentax bodies, I feel super tempted to pick one up. They're just so ridiculous. I love 'em.

So I guess in answer to your question, I say: Get a Pentax. Get one in bright-homosexual-fucking-pink with a matching lens, and shout to the world that you don't give a fuck about looking like a pro because you're an amazing goddamn photographer and you can take amazing goddamn photos with a camera that looks like Lisa Frank fucked Oskar Barnack.

kinda like how the biggest guy in the gym wears obnoxiously bright chucks to deadlift. I feel ya.

What is a photo diary- A photo diary is contemporary style of shooting that mixes ultra personal pictures, with both posed and candid portrait photography of friends and family.

It's revoking classical photography ideas and just shooting your hot friends doing drugs and living life

Notable examples include - Nan Golden, Petra Collins, Marcel Castenmiller, Oscar Santos, Larry Clark, Oliva Bee

I know I can't be the only who here who shoots in the photo diary style. So I just want to talk and discuss techniques favorite locations etc

I'm a fairly new photographer, got my first camera a few days ago. Yeah, of course I've been taking photos before that, but now I really want to improve and shoot as much as I can.

Since this board is kino, I want to make a thread about things that a lot of people like to shoot, but which are super generic and boring at this point.

I want to know what subjects and compositions I should stay away from, so I don't just waste my time. For example, I know that photos of clouds are done by pretty much everyone on the planet, and I am guilty of this at the moment, too, but I simply really enjoy those and have a need to capture them, although they can never really have that feeling like I get when I see them IRL.

Photos of windows, parking lots, macrophotography of boring flowers, pets... Things like that - I want you to tell me what you never like to see in a photo. What advice do you have for beginners on that topic?

If you're like me and have no intention of sharing what you shoot, just shoot whatever you like. There's nothing wrong with a cloud picture you took, because you remember being there for it, it's different than some random guy's cloud photo.
>>
>>3144738
Since you're clearly from /tv/, you'll know that most good movies are movies people dismiss as "boring". Do you want to make art? Art doesn't have to entertain. You don't have to be Hitchcock to be a good photographer. It's ok to be Ozu or Kaurismaki.
>>
I do want to make something I can be proud of and share it with others, so yeah, I do want to create "art". But in that case, it has to have some meaning behind it, or at least be something that people can enjoy I guess.

Is good for making a photo more dramatic than it actually is, good for landscapes with heavy + light clouds.
Wet cityscapes.

But it may kill a photo like picrelated.

Is photomatix still the one to use when making HDR?

I think when youre a beginner it makes everything look impressive.
tone mapping because that's similar to hdr-ing.
its hard not to apply the effect or use it as a crutch.

for me now, my interest is getting more dynamic range to be closer to film.

obvious problem is you cant take moving subjects.
