Their photos are shit but stop trying to personal army this person you salty autist fuck.
Bought a Nikon D3000 for around $100 on ebay about 3 weeks ago. Personally first DSLR but I like it. Few people on forums have told me ive made mistake and should've just saved the money for a better DSLR. Have I fucked up? I think it works just fine. I try to shoot landscapes all the time and they come out somewhat decent from what I can tell and some other pictures I took I don't notice a total tank in quality. Please let me know if I've made a mistake or not.
>>3140260
I see a like new nikon d3300 + af-p kit lens for $300 right now.
I would return it if you can and try and get at least a better sensor
Get D3300.
>>3140260
it's a $100
shoot it, learn a bit with it, and see if you like DSLRs.
Then move on to something better when you have the cash, or if it turns out you don't want to carry anything bigger than a cell phone, you only lost $100

and the end result after patching away the tripod. I have a little project going on with natural colour nightscapes and this will be part of it.
one more picture for the project.
long, yellow, cloudy nights are coming, better use them productively.
new to photography (when I took these photos I've only been learning and teaching myself on the trip (and looking at /p/ for small tips) and editing even more so. just got a rx100 for vacation. Also, I like these but I know they aren't great, most of my photos weren't since I was constantly moving, to the point where I never had the chance to use my tripod. But this does not excuse these photos so please judge harshly. Would someone tell me what they think and how I can improve?
I'm providing a lot so if there are constant problems they can be identified. and so I am not making a thread for 1 photo

Hey guys, so i've come to a bit of a stand still with my "Photography", I can take sub-par pictures of nature and everyday things but I seem to have the inability to photograph people, any tips?
Just for reference here's my ig https://www.instagram.com/that.5c.photographer/?hl=en
Keep taking photos until you graduate from high school, or just give up. Nobody cares.
How long are you photographing?
How many pics have you taken yet?
What camera + lenses do you have?
Do you fucking expect me to see what your goddamn problem is without giving further information?

Stick to your cellphone's camera.
My Dad has given me a his Contax 139, As I am studying photography at sixth form collage.
The camera shutter jams intermittently and I wondered if any members knew someone who could refurbish/fix the camera.
I have put in new batteries so this is not the problem.
I live In Essex and can go to London so I would be grateful if anyone could recommend someone who could get it back to working order.
Thankyou Very Much

What stopping you from googling "camera repair london" and looking at reviews?
>>3139852
nice camera, great lenses
first step will be this >>3139859 but be ready to find out that it is too expensive or not repairable. A cheap Yashika body will use the same lenses if you want to shoot film or get an adapter for a mirrorless.
Contax lenses however are the only lenses I have seen people full on convert rather than adapt to either Nikon F for manual lenses or Canon EF with the AF Contax. The canon conversions I have seen even maintain AF focus and aperture contro, I don't know who did these conversions but they were coming out of Japan.

SLR usually isn't worth repairing unless it has sentimental value. Be prepared to spedn $2-300.
My school is giving me a $2,000 technology grant (I'm an MSc in compsci doing research with computer vision). I figure a lens or lenses are appropriate.
>Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8
>Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8
I was thinking these two with $200 to spare. I shoot Nikon crop; do you guys think it's a good idea?
>>3139762
shouldnt you be using the grant money for the research? presumably that's why they gave you a grant for.
>>3139770
not op but technology grant usually implies materials used in research
>>3139771
yeah, but it doesn't sound like he's buying any of this to use it for his research
What's a good macro lens for Sony crop? I'll also take Canon since I have a Metabones.
My employer needs product photos done and instead of paying a photographer, he said he'll buy me the lens if I do it. Max budget $1000.
>>3139739
>he'll buy the company the lens if you do it
>>3139750
No, he said he'll buy me the lens.
>>3139739
What are you taking photos of? Larger objects need shorter focal lengths.
What lighting setup do you have? No point spending 1k on a lens of you don't have 3 flashes and loads of modifiers.
How do you guys get over those phases of hating all photos you take? I can't stand that feeling of looking over the shit you took in the last few days and just ending up deleting all of them.
You guys ever feel like you're getting worse, the more you learn and/or try?

You don't strike gold every day. Some days you just don't get anything good. Some days there's just nothing worth keeping. Better to be honest with yourself then try and convince yourself what you shot is good like half this board. If something is good and worth keeping you should be able to explain to yourself why.
So in early September I'm going to be competing in HotRod magazine's Drag Week event. Basically it's a 1,000 mile, week long road trip with racing every day with 400+ cars.
Now, I'm trying to figure out what I should bring from my home, which will be 4,000 miles away (round trip excluding the race).
What gear should I bring to photograph all of this? My list of available gear will be posted below.
My current plan has me bringing my OM-1 with a few lenses (the Zuiko 50mm 1.8, a Tamron 72mm 3.8 zoom, the Zuiko 50mm 75-200mm zoom, etc), my pair of Argus C3's, one with a Tele-Sandmar 100mm 4.5 lens, and another with the stock Cenitar 50mm 3.5, plus a flash assembly with flash bulbs for both cameras (sadly only 5 flash bulbs though)
I also will have a fun little Vivitar T101 plastic 35mm, and a Vivitar IC101 Panoramic camera to play with and bring along.
I'm contemplating bringing my owned by never used Minolta Maxxum 7000. I've got a couple of lenses for it, and a flash unit, but the fact that I'm not well versed with it troubles me.
>>3139492
I have 8 rolls of Kodak Ultramax 400, 4 rolls of Fuji Superia X-TRA 400, and 4 rolls of Fujicolor 200.
I also have a single roll of Holga (Foma) 400 B&W film to play with, and I'm considering getting more for the Argus.
Any other things you think I should bring? A tripod maybe?
Are you shooting for the magazine, or for yourself? If for yourself, bring whatever the fuck you want. I wouldn't bother bringing both the Argus and the OM-1. Just bring the OM-1 and pano camera. Maybe round out your OM lenses for what you might need. Maybe pick up a second OM-1 or other OM camera to have a different film and/or lens loaded.
Hello my fellow /p/hag enablers, I plan on doing an outdoor photoshoot (something like pic related) for my 2 year old daughter and since I'm still relatively new to this I want to ask for your advise, I have a nikon d7100, a yongnuo speedlite III, a flash trigger and some other stuff that I'll show you guys in the next post
I have some practice with portraits before and outdoor photography in fact I already did a photoshoot with her when she was younger and I think it turned out alright but I only used my camera and I'd like to add some more equipment to make a more outstanding result
Any advise is welcomed!
some of the gear I have, 50mm prime, normie 18-55mm and a 55-200mm lens

Just found one if these in a storage unit, perfect condition.
Is it worth keeping, or should i sell it?
Heres a manual for it if you decide to keep it.

Holy shit I actually found one in my dad's stuff and I just bought a new battery for it. I'm going to start using it just cause.
So I have a Cannon Vixia HF R600 and I do YouTube reviews of board games. I also do interviews, game play, etc. I recently got a Cannon E05 Rebel T6i because of how much a friend of mine was raving about a DSLR but the 30 min record time is a major turn off. granted I rarely record for longer then 30 mins at a time, but still why is a DSLR the standard? Everything I research online says that the recommended under $800 camera is a DSLR camera for what I do. I mean I still have my Vixia I can record gameplay with and stuff, was just hoping to be able to do dual shots with the DSLR. Now I have the option to pay for shipping and return it getting my $600 something back. it came with the body, battery, strap and lens (18 - 55 I think) I need some advise... should I keep the camera or get a better video camera, or is this best for the price? Sorry if this isn't in the right place

Handheld video cameras sorta fell out of fashion a few years ago. Now they just put the sensors in dslrs and that gives you the added benifit of changing lenses, something the hf r600 doesnt do well. Even the movie industry has started moving towards more dslr use. Elysium, Avengers and Mad Max were shot on the 5D mkii
really? Even with the 30 min cutoff?
Are there remotes that can stop and start the recording on a DSLR, namely the one I have?
They have that app to remote take pictures, but that wont remote record. that way between cuts I dont have to get up and hit the button I can remote do it (Like Rahdo, if you know who he is)
Also I just recorded a video, but another problem I have with it is I can plug it in and charge the battery while I record.
