Ive been spear fishing for like 2 months now but I have problems holding my breath. I feel like before I could only hold my breath for 15 seconds and 8 can still only go for 15 seconds. Any tips or ideas?

Im not into spearfishing, snorkeling or diving.
But maybe you need to increase you red cells count.
Eat food wich is iron and cooper rich, and make some cardio.
>>
>>915556

Are you breathing deeply/quickly/heavy before diving? You need to get extra oxygen into your system.

(Although 15 seconds is pretty terrible even if you aren't doing that. And I can't believe you've been doing it 2 months at 15 second dives.)
>>
>>915556
You should practice holding your breath for longer and longer periods while laying in bed, watching tv, taking a dump, etc.

I have like $100 to spend at Bass Pro and I'm looking to get some hiking boots (all weather). What's my best option? I'm somewhat of a hiking n00b. Do they have anything else that's worth looking at for something who doesn't like dadcore fashion?

100 bucks at bass pro? Best you can get with that amount are like some low end socks.
>>
I'm sort of a newb too. I ended up getting some north face ones that are more of a mid hiking shoe. they are pretty comfortable I'll say and I can walk a long ways without any discomfort. These for about $130 might be worth it and get good reviews. I know some north face have pretty shitty waterproofing or breathability. So do your research
-The North Face Hedgehog Fastpack Mid GTX GORE-TEX Hiking Boots for Men

other one I'd try is the salomons. They were a bit stiffer when I tried them but they felt like they were built solid and would last. In both cases I have a narrow foot and they work well with that.
-Salomon X Ultra Mid 2 GTX GORE-TEX Hiking Boots for Men $160

The only other brand I really liked was la sportiva but I see they don't carry those. Probably other people can talk about the other brands. Merrels seemed well built but weren't very comfortable for me.
>>

oh the other thing I'd suggest is wear a typical lighter sock you would normally wear when you try stuff on. Better to be a little tight in winter with heavier socks than loose in summer with lighter socks. Any looseness with boots tends to translate into blisters later on. You want a nice snug fit. Different brands fit different feet better or worse so try a bunch. Any minor discomfort or pressure point will likely magnify itself after a couple of thousand steps so go for something that feels great right out of the gate and I'd expect less problems down the road. I guess your feet and the boots tend to adjust to pressure points a bit but it still sucks while they do.

if you seriously want recommendations about investing in a GOOD backpack, do not buy tactical stuff.

buy an internal frame backpack made fore backpacking.

tactical stuff will only cause more headaches (backaches) down the line. you will regret buying one.

What's the best setup for water filtration that includes a) some sort of reservoir e.g. a camelback, and b) a water filter connected directly so that you can stick e.g. a hose in water source and pump it through the filter straight into the reservoir. All parts must be connected

Good day sk/out/s,

So I've been looking for a good backpack to take with me when I go camping. So far, the 5.11 rush (pic related) seems like a good bet. It has plenty of space, is quite sturdy and has good reviews overall. What's less appealing is it's price tag.
I wanted to ask if you guys have any good recommendations for, preferably cheaper, bags? They need to be large, but not too large (between 35-50L), as I will be going through the wilderness with it. As such, it also needs to be a sturdy bag too. I'm also not big into bright colors.

Any good recommendations will be appreciated!

Milsurp stuff is good, but 5:11 is not milsurp it's fake repro shit with terrible stitching, don't fucming buy it anon. If it's camo and it's not actual military surplus, never EVER buy it
>>
>>914068
Haha, allright, I'll take it into consideration. Do you know a good online milsurp store perhaps? I live in Europe, so it's harder to come by actual milsurp stuff over here.
>>
Good choice!

>poorly ventilated back
>no hip belt
>heavy useless molle
>zips

Really don't know where this milsurp tough as nails and that's why it's soooo necessary for inna use meme comes from. It's not like hiking gear is fragile dude.

Yo sc/out/s need your advice,
I got invited to some tropical Island called Dominica for 5 weeks start of February. They got pristine nature and miles and miles of trails in the rugged and unspoiled mountain landscape.
I'm an experienced hiker, problem is I am from the far north, Mountains, cold climate, having fun above tree line is my thing. I know jackshit about doing hiking in tropics. Can you anons from the sunny side of the planet teach me the basics?

I thought about bringing a hammock, I got a tttm hammock, and planed to buy a tttm mosquito net and a hennessy hex fly. Is that a usable setup? I've been told it is always sunny over there, save for the daily torrential rainfall.

Also hints on shoes and clothing? I assume sandals would get full of sand and mud on the trails, so rather some light shoe with good soles?

Plan is to do max 3 nights in the wild with stays at guest houses in between. So can you guys tell me about a good load out for a tropic weekender with lots of hiking?

first of all wool socks oh it will be hot yeah but you wont get foot fungus like crazy
>>
Take care of your feet, air them, talc them, have spare socks.

Hammock is the way to go, rest assured. Check night time temps, you might not need a UQ/pad.

For clothes, probably try for zip-off nylon trousers, the thin ones that dry fast? I don't like shorts if the trails are thick. A sun hat is good to have too.

There is literally plenty of room in colorado.
It is one of the least populated states and there is tons to do there.
Anyone saying its full is a shellfish idiot that does not want to share the wealth even though there is plenty to go around.
Disgusting.

I think the Flash is lighter (1 lb vs 3 lbs) but that also means not as heavy duty. Both about the same price...
