Still waiting for help with the beginner guides on the Pastebin. I put a little saltwater one in there, but I want to do a river one possibly. Skid typed up a saltwater guide so enjoy the autism and CAbaymang just did a trout one.

I have a gut full of deer sausage, egg, and potato tacos. It's stoped drizzling and it's warming up.

Not sure if I want to hunt or fish today.

I'll be fishing with circle hooks next year for catfish. I have 100s of feet of spring tempered SS wire and have been trying to come up with tons of uses for it.

One of the main problems with circle hooks is having the bait foul the hook by flipping around from the bottom and ending up closing the gap between the hook point and the shaft. Thus, I figured I could prevent that by making a bait keeping wire for the hook. This is what it looks like on a kahle hook I'm testing it out with.

The idea is that the wire will stab into the cut bait, that hangs below the bottom of the hook locking it into place, without causing problems with hooking the fish.

Can anyone suggest places in Europe that have accessible walks/hikes in January?

Doesn't have to be anything strenuous or death-inducing, just something that provides great views and some fresh air for a day.

I wanted to do a city break with some outdoor elements, and thought you guys might have good suggestions. I know January is shit season for this sort of thing, but still.

Try somewhere near some mountains in Spain. Weather should be pretty forgiving and from what I've seen there's good areas that stretch pretty far. Some woods, stuff to climb down, stuff to climb up etc.
>>
>>910108
In northern Portugal you have the Geres national park. The weather iss relatively moderate during that time of the year but you might experience some snow and cold. You have lots of trails and a few camping parks in the area, plus there's lots of water and green scenery.

It's highest point is 1500meters so it's kinda nice. For a couple days and if you don't want nothing too extreme I find it to be a good option. Anyway if want to know something more feel free to ask.

I'm trying to raise money for various charities this season. Would anyone be interested in Christmas ornaments like these?
I'd be happy to make you one in exchange for a small donation, say $5, to a licensed charity.
I can personalize them in any way you like, or even make something else. You want a dickbutt ornament, you got it.
I make 'em out of balsa wood so shipping cost would be negligible.

Das p. cool ornament OP but sorry, I dont support nonprofits because they are all scams. If you had someone you knew that really needed $5 id do it, but fuck charities for real. You should do some homework and see if you can find out where the money is actually going.. Ill bet $5 you cant do it.

what is the downside of buying full tacticool gear?

>everything is normal
Look slightly autistic
>SHTF
now your outdoor gear is actually useful

so what is the downside?

>>
Why are my non-camo muted colors not useful? But, I think it's more a question of mindset: I don't think our government is going to dissolve causing me to need to blend in with trees and you do. Buy whatever gear you like.
>>
>>909495
>Velcro everywhere
>Pockets in silly places

The biggest problem is that in case SHTF, you will look like a slightly autistic armed man, which... well.
>>
>>909495
>looks like shit
>heavy because muh milspec 1000D cordura
>expensive because they can say shit like tactical and operator's choice and get away with it
>not designed specifically for /out/doors so you can get other gear that's either a better bang for the buck or just better whatsoever
but hey if you like buy it, it's your fucking money and nobody cares

Not sure if this is the right place to post, so apologies in advance, I'm new to /out/.

So I currently am in a really ideal situation where I am able to pursue whatever I so choose unhindered.
I live on about 13 acres of land, have enough money saved up that I can live comfortably for the rest of my life, and my schedule is totally open each and every day since I left my career 2 years ago.

I've always wanted to have an off grid community, and while that is the end goal I at the very least want to learn about Viking architecture but so far it has been difficult to find people/places that offer such studies.

Does anyone know where I can go to learn and become skilled in constructing such buildings?

If not is anyone here proficient enough to answer some building questions? That way at the very least I don't have my roof cave in on me in my sleep etc.

Just to clarify I've been in the carpentry/plumbing/electric and general construction all my life just through family business so I'm not starting out too fresh but not sure if I should reach out to them or look for specialty craftsmen.

Try NorthHouse folk school in Grand Marais, MN.
My dad went to log building school at some other school in northern Minnesota, but I forgot the name

Seems legit though, unfortunately all full at the moment but will look more into it.

Honestly, if you have all the time /money you could do some research and find out where in Northern Europe you can see genuine historical structures and take a vacation. That's what I would do!
Good luck and keep us posted!

On the other hand, two out of ten contestants have already stumbled on cattle remnants in the first episode so I can't imagine they are too remote this time out either.

..unless aliens are using these mountains as a dumping ground for subjects of their cattle mutilation experiments or something.

Hello sc/out/s,

What do you guys think of handkerchiefs? Do you always carry one or only when /out/? How many do you own? If you don't carry one, why not?

I only have two. I wash them after about 2 days of use so it works fine. Useful for dabbing sweat, drying my hands, wiping my nose in cold weather, covering a sneeze, wiping my mouth after a meal, or cleaning up after a quick tug in the woods.

i have one but i'll never use it like in the picture for anything nose related, only stuff you mentionned but a mini towel might be better to dry out skin, for the rest, i use handkerchief
