i remember camping with friends, we set up these tarps to make a tent like structure in an U shape open on the top and set fire in the middle. some warm was reflected back to our back and it was stopping the wind. we build a few benches by cutting poles and bury them and nail some slats on top off the knee high poles so we can sit comfortably. the tarps were set up similar way but on poles as high as a man. we cooked and grilled stuff like sausages bacon meat. made some potatoes in the embers, drank booze and told stories.

it was cozy as hell.

Mostly car camping or in the backyard. The set of four potjies comes in handy at church camp and scouting events. If SHTF i'd grab the #2 and my best knife. Interesting fact: I uploaded pic related to wikipedia commons ten years ago. Now that image shows upon hundreds of websites and blogs. They usually claim it was taken in South Africa (it wasn't)

Just got a new oil lantern for power outtages and such. Can't wait to take it camping out back to add some comfy to the camping spot. Can burn citronella in it too.

My camping spot in the back acres of my family's woods the last 3 years. I'm moving away again in a few weeks and will probably never camp there again. It was a naturally comfy spot, shielded by two bigass fallen trees.

Reminds me of my families land. Finally got to see it again after 7 years. It looked like it hadn't changed too much. Just a little one room cabin with a wood burning stove and two bunk beds. Stayed an extra day with my cousin for deer season. Got to sleep in since no one was shooting before 4pm. Spilt some fire wood, read some Ernest Hemingway, and touch up the land as the fog lifted before heading out to stalk. Not 20 minutes into listening to my cousin turn the stalk into a drive, we walked across a game trail. I crouched down to look at some deer shit and 4 doe spring up and bound toward us. My cousin and I both raise our rifles as they stop 20 feet away. Thanks to another cousin shooting two shitty spikes, we just had to stand there as they gave a snort and left. Found a fuck ton of grouse and yote tracks for the next hour before going and sitting.

Take a look at their campus. Totem poles, hand-built log cabins and wooden halls made from scratch, chainsaw carvings, the surrounding trails and land. Had an /out/gasm when I went there. The very definition of /comfy/.
