Sir John Franklin.
>>

Been there. It's well above the treeline so there's nothing but grass and the hardiest of bushes, there's a lot of vegetation though. There's shit loads of mosquitos and the sun is either always up or never up depending when you go.

Around that area is this placed call wilburforce falls which is the second biggest waterfall in the world, it's in this weird fucking canyon but there's almost no one there so it's pretty surreal, its about a week and a half of paddling in hard winds to get to it though since the only lake big enough to land a plane is a ways away and there's no roads.
>>

it's one of the rare few /out/ places where death is still a pressing concern. There's almost nothing up there. the human body can't process the vegetation and you'd be left hunting wary barren land game.

what you've pictured in the pic is 1,000 miles south to north and there's not shit for people up there.

It's a little bit out of that red circle but Mount Thor is around there and it looks pretty fuckin gnarly. The shear massive size of this part of the world really puts things in perspective. all of those islands combined is probably the size of europe. hell, baffin island is bigger than spain and portugal and theres like, 20,000 people up there.

Millions of square (whatevers) of empty, mostly useless land. How can anyone claim that the Earth is "intelligently designed"?
>>
>>908241
The earth has been changing since it's original inception

Maybe that piece of land has a purpose your simple mind can't fathom
>>
>>906308
Check out Ray Mears' Northern Wilderness on YT for more info.
>>
>>906308
Went up there when I was in the army. There are a few native villages but basically nothing else. Kilometers upon kilometers of nothing, just frozen tundra. Occasionally you run upon an abandoned boat or hunting cabin. The wildlife is amazing up there, wolves, polar bears and herds of other animals. Beautiful in its own way.

It is very dangerous though and can be really shitty. It can get to as cold as -50 and if you don't know what you are doing you will die. It is so immense, and empty up there that your mind can't really comprehend the vastness. Really fucking cold. Did I mention really fucking cold?

most Inuit are semi-nomads, hard to survive up there otherwise.
>>
>>908531

>>
>>908531
How can there be so many of them in such cold place?
>>
>>908853
Because it's warmer in the summer
>>
>>908853
They hibernate during the winter and then come out in full force during the summer to harass all the local animals. There was a segment during planet earth where a trillion black flies took down a god damn caribou. Those bugs are ruthless.

Don't listen to these posters it is great up here. We have parties more days than not, a 3:1 ratio of cute girls to guys (most of them asians too BTW), hot tub comes free with every home. Nice restaurants, museums, concerts. Nothing is ever crowded. Not much traffic. Please is wonderful.

We do have wildlife and even polar bears but most are trained and you can pet them pic related.

Only real danger is having to choose what awesome things you'll do that day: ski (water or snow depending on season), hike, camp, go shooting, ice skating, play hockey, soccer, backetball, attend one of our many community learning classes where you can find out how to make authentic northern arts and crafts....its a shitload to pick from.

You'd swat at the little bastards and they'd hold on to you, everything in the middle east is just plain mean, even rhe bushes looked mean and jaggedy

its nice and one of the reasons i love living here but once you get to the far north like upper NWT its fucking expensive to live. i knew a pilot that flew up there, 2L bottle of Coca Cola is like $6-$7 in stores so youre best off coming here to north Alberta and bringing stuff

NWT gives you a living allowance of $10/day for living there, ive actually considered it. one of my goals is to throw my camper on one of my trucks and go far north a month in the summer and see how it is
