I feel like the only way China would get involved is if they wanted to replace Kim Jong Un with a puppet. Kim is too unpredictable to have as a pseudo-ally and the Chinese would never want a NATO ally on their border.

Wipe down the barrel and bolt face when you bring it home, and see image for lube (thanks, arfcom).

If you have a safe, put it in there. If you don't, consider buying one. If you don't want to or can't monetarily, just keep it in a regular gun bag or hard case and set it in the closet. I keep mine on my wall.

No difference. 55gr FMJ is fine for plinking and anything you're gonna want to do. Hornady makes good match ammo that you won't benefit from yet.

I've had bad luck with aluminum mags in my NYAR, but pmag10s have worked beautifully. You're going to have to be extra careful with your rifle, because I'm willing to bet that you can set the rifle to fire, but not back to safe with your firing hand thanks to that stock.

yes, yes, and it's not mandatory but yeah.

A cleaning kit will have a cleaning rod with a slit in one end of it. You put cleaning material on the rag that comes with it, push it through the slit about half way, and then push/pull that through the barrel.

You see the star-shaped bit at the end of the bolt carrier in the image posted? That's the bolt face. Make sure you get into the corners.

Disassembling the AR is pulling the rear pin (by the safety) and hinging the rifle down. Pull the charging handle and the charging handle + bolt carrier will come out. The front pin also comes out.

Sorry to repost but I need some honest opinions on what to do with these pieces of crap.
Can anyone help me judge the value of some spare beat up uppers I want to sell to fund improvement purchases and so I don't just have a shit ton of uppers lying around....

1) S&W upper, 1:9 twist chromed carbine length barrel with A2 flash hider. Retrofitted with osprey piston kit (I know but it wasn't originally mine and I didn't do it. Part of motivation to get rid of it.)

FSB is blemish to hell around the pins from an attempt by the same moron who put the osprey kit in to remove the fsb.

Handguard cap has a piece at the top cut off after said moron failed to remove fsb. Delta ring weld spring has been cut so handguards would be easier to remove. A2 rear detachable carry handle. Standard charging handle.

2) BCM blemished upper (small Nick). Green Mountain Rifles barrel midlength 1:8 twist chrome lined. A2 flash hider. Midwest industries rail. BCM BCG no charging handle. (Might sell bcg separate or through in charging handle.). Magpul mbus sights.

Biggest issue with this the barrel nut is on real tight. So much so that the slots where the wrench fit in bent and scratches up the inside of the rail. Upper is still good, just the rail and barrel but probably can't be removed very easily.

Both only have a few hundred rounds (<500) through them though I can't personally verify that. They look pretty unused though.


I was thinking $300 at best for both total. I.e. $100 for the super fucked up s&w and $200 for the other.

Thoughts?

On my SKS where the Gas tube connects to the barrel seems to be slightly lipped/tilted and i notice some gas escapes from there. It hasnt affected any cycling issues; but should i put a viton Oring on it to help seal a bit?
