Sorry to repost but I need some honest opinions on what to do with these pieces of crap.
Can anyone help me judge the value of some spare beat up uppers I want to sell to fund improvement purchases and so I don't just have a shit ton of uppers lying around....

1) S&W upper, 1:9 twist chromed carbine length barrel with A2 flash hider. Retrofitted with osprey piston kit (I know but it wasn't originally mine and I didn't do it. Part of motivation to get rid of it.)

FSB is blemish to hell around the pins from an attempt by the same moron who put the osprey kit in to remove the fsb.

Handguard cap has a piece at the top cut off after said moron failed to remove fsb. Delta ring weld spring has been cut so handguards would be easier to remove. A2 rear detachable carry handle. Standard charging handle.

2) BCM blemished upper (small Nick). Green Mountain Rifles barrel midlength 1:8 twist chrome lined. A2 flash hider. Midwest industries rail. BCM BCG no charging handle. (Might sell bcg separate or through in charging handle.). Magpul mbus sights.

Biggest issue with this the barrel nut is on real tight. So much so that the slots where the wrench fit in bent and scratches up the inside of the rail. Upper is still good, just the rail and barrel but probably can't be removed very easily.

Both only have a few hundred rounds (<500) through them though I can't personally verify that. They look pretty unused though.

I was thinking $300 at best for both total. I.e. $100 for the super fucked up s&w and $200 for the other.

Thoughts?

Did the research for this for an advertising stunt a year or so ago, there's around a 90% chance you would only need one active counter digit for a counter of days since the last technical "mass shooting"

The ad was too political, but we were able to put a really low bid because one digit is easy as fuck to program.

I went on a trip to see my family and before leaving I unloaded my Home Defense AR, broke it down and bike locked it to my bed frame. One thing I noticed was that the bullet that was in the chamber has a small dimple on the primer. This is somewhat unsettling to me. What could be causing that? i did some quick googling and apparently it's normal, but it's a good idea not to chamber the round again.

Kind of unsettling. The last thing I fucking want is an AR ND in my tiny little apartment. There's no chance of that happening if I don't pull the trigger right?
>>

"MASS SHOOTING!!!!"
>murder suicide with two accidental casualties.

fucking yawn.
>>
>>33603735
>keeping it chambered 24/7
>>
>>33603735
Shit that makes me nervous too.
>>
>>33603898
so wait I'm NOT supposed to keep my HD weapon chambered all the time?

I've heard the exact opposite from pretty much everyone i've talked to and it makes sense. If I was in an actual situation where I had to use my weapon the last thing I would want to worry about is if I short stroked the charging handle. The reason I choose my AR as my home defense gun is because it's easy to deploy and has nice iron sights that are quick to get on target when compared with my glock and my shotgun.
>>
>>33604261
the primer dimpling is not an issue unless you chamber and re-chamber the same round hundreds of time (i.e. a cop cocking and locking his service weapon then putting the same round back in the mag at the end of the day, then repeating every day) and if it does become an issue it'll just crush that primer and make it unusable
primers require a strong impulse to fire, not just a certain depth of indentation
>>
I just had my first AR and I'm still pretty new to them and I think something is wrong with it. I haven't shot it yet, so I dont think it's damage . So what is happening is when i pull the bolt back and use the lock to hold it back, the charging handle is just loose and moves around freely. Shouldn't it stay with the bolt?? I'm scared that I might have bought a broken AR or I might have broken it myself. What is wrong with it? Also english is not my first language so excuse any mistakes please thank you.
>>
>>33599039
I'd buy the s&w
>>
>>33599023
>Murder-suicide with a .357 revolver
>Only others hit except target were bystanders in direct line of fire
>Mass shooting
>>
>>33603735

That's normal. Free floating firing pin bumps the primer every time you chamber a round. It won't set it off but if you keep chambering the same round it will eventually deaden the primer and it may not fire when you need it to. Cycle your round in the chamber, don't chamber the same one every time.
>>
>>33604401
The charging handle is not attached to the bolt carrier, so will move freely when not under pressure.

Your rifle is fine.
>>
>>33604401
Your AR is fine. There is nothing to lock the charging handle back.
>>
>>33604401
is this a troll post?

if not I'll bite. That's what's supposed to happen. The charging handle only exists to move back the bolt carrier group. Once it's back it flops around freely, although i'm sure there are some gucci charging handles that don't do that. Once you chamber a round it will go forward and won't do that anymore.
>>
>>33599023
>mass shooting
Unless you're referring to the multiple shootings in Chiraq that weren't reported on: Nope.
>>

Just 1X. I can shoot pretty good with irons out to 200 with my A2 so I'm not too worried about magnification on a 16". Figured that this optic was about right for a $600 rifle. For my purposes, I can't justify spending $1000+. Just built a 100 yard range on some property my family owns so for my purposes I think this setup is just fine. Thanks for the feedback btw, you don't see it as much as you used to here.
