90% of IC is easily better than this. how do you get into the concept art field? do you really have to bum around school and talk to teachers? is it not about trying to git gud? i want to fucking work for nintendo too.
any anons here working full time as an artist? if so, how did you get the job?
>inb4 i'm saying the drawing is bad i'm not saying it's bad it's OK
closer picture. the concept is nice i guess but the execution looks amateurish rather than just fast.

>90% of IC is easily better than this
No matter how good you are. Some clown will always get more attention and work oportunities just because reasons. That's life
>>2899703
No idea who did this, but a lot of times when you see really crudely drawn concept art, it was usually done by creative people involved in the project who aren't primarely artists or by veteran cloth and costume designers who can't draw very well but have been with the company long before that was a requirement to get the job.
Most of the other concept art pieces I can find for this game look just like what you'd expect. Nothing super amazing, but competent drawings and paintings, so that's the minimum what you should aim for if you want to work for Nintendo.
I can't beat procrastination

How much can be learned from just copying?
The great masters copied LIFE
Frank Frazetta apparently copied one of Brigman's books, every illustration in it, In one single day.
(he probably did it multiple times in the past, enough for it to become such muscle memory that he could eventually do it in a day)
And men like Kim Jung Gi, drew lots of Boxes, supposedly so many boxes that he turned into a demi-god (supposedly the god of boxed forms) and now can draw anything! (wow)
BUT, Is this kind of monkey see, monkey do behavior, more efficient than say reading books? Maybe, maybe not.
Is just copying a book multiple times better than reading it and then applying what you've read to your various studies?
Some say youre better at soaking in the information through the repetition of copying the material than reading the material once or twice and then applying it to something after the fact.
Nigga, it's not do this one thing or that one thing. You do all of them. Copying is a weird term to use, it really means study, but copying works. Copying is the best way. Even if all you could do is draw like KJG because you copy him, is that not good enough?
>>2897806
algenpfleger's entire method was basically make studies of photographs, then apply from imagination until it sticks. worked for him.
>>2897806
Books can supplement when you get stuck but where you really improve (and learn) is doing studies. Everything in art, stylized or not is derived from life.
Last thread: >>2888147
This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make anime works in-between their studies. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.
Submit your drawings, receive feedback or critique others! Share your knowledge and remember to thank those who've critiqued or red-lined your drawings. Most importantly, have fun!

Also want to transition to digital; I want to import my pen/pencil drawings to a digital canvas then paint over it.
Is GIMP as good as photoshop? It's free...

Is "drawing for fun" the worst /ic/ meme besides "not gonna make it"?
People who don't care about skills are the only ones who say that crap, countless times I have encountered retards who hasn't listened to any critique because "they draw for fun". It's childish mentality, never listen to anyone who says anything about having fun if you want to be great.
Because great people want to achieve greatness or money. That's the fun part of it. When you are good and/or rich. Not when you just draw shitty doodles and smile to it like a drooling retard.
>He's physically unable to have fun while also improving his skills
Maybe you'll make it eventually, but you will have wasted your time.
>>2894286
it's not a meme, anon.
Even as a professional, if you don't enjoy what you do then you are never going to be that good. When it comes to a field that demands creativity that is even more of a factor. You are not going to achieve money and greatness as an artist if you don't enjoy it as a passion.
And if you don't have fun learning then you'll burn out.
>>2894305
Not to mention that if fame and money are the most important things in life to you, art is not a good choice of profession. There are countless other professions where you can get a degree and sit in a boring office job all day and come home to a comfortable lifestyle.
However, passion isn't always fun. The people's whose passion springs from need for money and fame aren't going to leave a mark on the world. They all end up making the same shit that defines an era. Might be competently done, but there's nothing special beyond that. It's soulless. That's not greatness. That's the old selling out chestnut. The original artists' meme.
Portray a thot everyday
how is this garbage not reportable, this is basically /s/
or references or anything, I just want good artwork or photographs.
like so
I Microsoft painted these tonight. I'm pretty happy with them.

i'm posting images of artists i think know how to draw appealing women/sexual images since this is an area /ic/ seems to take great interest in
(popularly knows for Druuna).
Unusually talented artist with classical training (for this subject matter)
(more surrealist, a German artist from the 20th century)
How's this for a first Illustrator project?

this country, I dunno
Huwoh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tim's looking really edgy, have you seen him?
Do you guys ever draw or paint really elaborate/complex shit for the sake of grinding tech? Been noticing how a lot of my favorite artists work this way, as opposed to doing a bunch of random seperate unrelated bullshit. It seems like the art equivalent of tremolo picking. (i.e. practice that has pleasing results.)

Yes, projects are the single best way to improve quickly, because you'll find problems you won't know the solution to and fixing those will allow you to learn and improve. Many people here think that just because they think they understand something, they'll be able to do, but unless you've actually managed to finish it yourself, chances are you don't really know how to. The illusion of knowledge is a real thing.
I like doing 5 to 10 hour long projects for Perspective/Construction, although I am fairly new. Today I am starting one of those assignments. I'll make 20 thumbnails of Warehouses from reference to learn how they are put together, and then I'll make one large Warehouse using concepts of composition. Sounds silly, but I really think this is the best way to learn, imo. It's what they would make you do in school.
>>2902683
Yeah I do, point is I also really want to post my work as much as I can to build a following and doing bigger projects results in generally better looking pieces.
