If you are a /beg/inner in art, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice.
We should not have to make new threads or post in the drawthread with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

To start almost completely from scratch learning to draw / digital paint and be good enough to be able to make some sort of career and be considered "good"?

Why is going beyond the sketch phase fucking impossible? I think the inital sketch wasn't terrible.

When drawing a character's head what I personally do is taking the sketch (layer A), make a duplicate (layer B), erase everything on layer B except for mouth, nose, eyes, eyebrows. Then, I refine what I'm left with by erasing protruding, unnecessary lines and adding others where needed (to fill gaps for instance). As for the rest, I reference off of the layer below. This is what I do to preserve the satisfactory look of the initial sketch

your mind is selecting the good lines subconsciously but when you do line art you have to fill the gaps in your knowledge.
Also why paper drawings give better drawing results for noobies
You have issues with basic symmetry ( mouth corners for example)

Does art require any hard logical type of thinking? I get that it's a creative profession, but I'm interested in knowing how much the "right-side of the brain" is required, so to speak, and how much that kind of thinking is required to succeed in art industries in general.
Painting some random strokes on an easel and having other sycophants praise it is very unfulfilling, and that's what I experienced when I tried Art "university".

There isn't really any hard separation between logic and creativity. That's a myth. Any creative endeavor requires a lot of logical thinking if you want it to be good. Just like a lot of practical problems require a lot of creativity to solve.

Worst yet it takes fucking forever for him to draw since they need to create the models for everything, I remember back in the day reading that the reason the manga was on hiatus was literally to make more 3D models.

I want to ask all pros on /ic/ (if there are any)
When you started learning, what mindset did you have? Was it "dying" for few years in order to get good, then working and then starting to live a life? Because I feel like that's the way to do it, just shutting yourself from everything for some time and then coming back to life when you are ready.

Does it ever depress you that modern artists very rarely get famous for their work? And if they do, their fame is minuscule compared to other creative professions. What are your thoughts, /ic/?
