If you are a /beg/inner in art, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice.

We should not have to make new threads or post in the drawthread with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:

#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (I recommend ShareX)

#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller

#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new (and cleaner) sticky in town! You can see it at:

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

Looks cool but a bit complicated to look at. I had to stop and think for a bit to know what I was looking at
>>
If anything, the brush that you used for the shining in the eye thing feels out of place with the shading in the piece.
Really cool, anyway.

So, what the hell happened to conceptart.org that made so many people leave and delete their sketchbooks? I can't find any information sadly and no one want to talk about it for some reason.

There's been several dramas that caused huge portions of the site to leave in protest. Things like some sketchy stuff around their online school and how they promoted it/what they were actually offering, personal fights with Jason Manley (one of the creators/owners of the site), artists who made video tutorials for Massive Black not getting paid for it and some of them individually being owed literally tens of thousands, constant begging for money to run the servers which went beyond what other people felt it should have and later some shady stuff about that money going to Manley's brother etc. Many of the dramas that happened had were made worse by mods aggressively deleting any threads trying to discuss it or have open information on things and strict censorship. A lot of blame fell onto Manley at various points, it seems he has a knack for burning bridges, though a lot of things ended up in lawsuits and as far as I know the final outcomes of who was telling the truth in he-said-she-said situations hasn't really come to light. In my opinion Manley took total blame for a few things he probably was only partially responsible for, and there definitely were some people making things up to slander him including a super fake chat conversation with some stripper or something.

Other than all that drama, there's some more contributing factors that affected the site such changes in the code and servers which broke the site by slowing it down a lot and losing all of the old images before a certain date including some very classic threads and sketchbooks as well as ruining all pages with any posts by dile, and he had like 6k posts on the site. After all this most of the pros left, and without pros in the community it really went to shit. All this happened too as other social media platforms overtook forums making them a bit obsolete, and also digital art in general shifted from niche to mainstream making the sheer volume not suitable for a community like that.

I like to go on artstation and imagine that good pieces are actually done by me

Any tips on using dark colored paper?

>>
>>2899368
don't
>>
>>2899368
I bought the 12x18 version of that pad of paper. I think it was kind of expensive. And really small. I hate small paper. I was gonna do some chalk pastels. The combination of smooth surface and the color made it really hard to build up my light values. I think I'm gonna have to use fixative to build up more layers.

What are you going to do with it? Mid-tone paper is a lot easier to work with, imo.

Yes, use Copic Markers for gestures and Fineliners form contour, shadows and texture. Use a white gel pen, acrylic or gouche for highlights.

nobody ever follows or goes through with regimens that are set (including things like aguris) because there's no discipline and environment that a classroom or school can give

that being said - i hope you're the outlier

A reminder that you can make it.
I want you to take what this guy says about music and apply it to art.
This is the attitude you need to have to make it.
The guy in this video pretty much made it already in his music
He got out of prison and made it.
So what is stopping you?

here's a protag i did for a game model reference
i appreciate the simpleness of the design but i still feel like its missing something.
care to spice it up anons?
8 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>2898945
Why did you draw it in a T pose if it's 2D? And rather than asking other anons to solve your problem for you, try doing it yourself. Figure out who your character is and what their personality is, and then do some thinking and research into how you can make their clothing represent this.
>>
>>2898945
Keep your art in /beg/.
If you make a thread, people will draw porn of your character and subject it to /ic/ drawing memes.
I don't think you want that, do you?
>>
>>2898973
but that's exactly what i want
>>2898948
as i said reference for 3d game model
i think the design gives off a bright animated feeling which is what i was going for, but in wanted ic's take on it as well since you guys are top tier master artists

I want to commission some artwork for playing cards. My plan is to just search around sites like deviantart, contact an artists that fits my taste, and see how much it'll cost to have something done.

Using pic shown as a template, how much do you think it would cost to have something like that made from scratch? Playing card size.

>>
>>2898689
If you want quality it will cost at least a couple hundred per card, unless you get lucky and find someone super desperate, or maybe find someone who gives a deal if they are given a bulk order of images to do. MtG pays their artists around 1k per image, so you will struggle to find someone of that calibre working for under 500 or 600 per image. If it's just simple images and you are okay with quality a bit lower you can maybe find someone in the 150 to 400 range.

I do not consider myself a good drawing, I not have much time dedicated to him. But my drawings remind me of artists like Richard Corben. My question is...in these days, make or draw pictures in certain proportionately incorrect situations is accepted?

You can't do imagination drawing without years of training.

Why do you shill it if it's impossible to do in the beginning? I can draw from references very good, mostly copying but I can't draw a good face from imagination at all. You can only study imagination drawing, you can't actually draw shit by yourself.

>>
>>2898606
Because it's a god damn lie that beginners echo. You can draw whatever the fuck you want it just might not look as good as you want it to be.
>>
>>2898606
You shouldn't try to learn to draw new things without looking at the object, that is absurd. But don't just copy a thing, analyze it, deconstruct it, find its shapes, and even its function if applicable.
>>
>>2898606
I have no idea what you are even saying. Draw from both imagination and reference. They're not mutually exclusive.

How do I get clean crisp lines like they have in TV animation?
I've notice that lots of cartoon shows have very clean lines and I've tried emulating them in different programs but to no avail my attempts come out jagged and shakey.
Is it because they use giant wacom tablets and I'm using some no name drawing pad? Is it the programs they use?
Feather? Going back and cleaning it up?

When I zoom in I can see that the brush they use is square. A pixel brush maybe?
I tried using Krita to get the same line quality and got close but the lines come out wiggly.
>>
>>2898531
They ink their keyframes with vectored lines in Flash. So those figures you see are actually a bunch of points being told how to behave, not hand-drawn lines.
