Idk if what i'm doing is a waste of time or it's just the starting point for my art...
I really struggle finding my own style, yeah i exercise and shit but i can't figuring out what is the best style that fits me, or if i find something cool, i'm not that capable of replicate it with the result of not enjoying that style and moving out to something else (i'm not talking about excercising > failing first try > giving up).
BUT here is the situation: in last the two years i started drawing whenever was possible, and i'm getting used to draw in a certain way... and here is the problem, because idk if it's only random sketching or "it's my style" that's calling me unconsciously. Obv due to the fact that i'm dawing everywhere, my draws are in used paper so i'm sorry for "the aesthetic" of the pictures.
So /ic/ what do you think about it? Because i really don't know and i need the opinion of strangers.

I've been trying for ages but I just can't draw digitally as well as I can draw traditionally. Anatomy is thrown way off and everything takes much much longer to get looking decent, even a simple sketch. If I could just sketch and then refine directly from my computer, I'd save like a whole hour or so. What am I missing?

Of course I'm missing patience dude, it's been quite a while and I still don't have it down. Of course I'm not the best traditionally either imo but that doesn't change the fact that the difference in quality is frustrating.

Depends what I want to focus on learning. If I want to focus on my observation and accuracy I will do a literal copy. If I want to focus on something else I will take many more liberties with things.

I try to line up everything as perfect as possible.If it is a portrait study then I prefer realism. Measure everything, make sure your lines and curves always intersect and meet in a way that has parity with the original work just my 2c

I hired an artist 5 months ago to create a painting for me, we agreed to have the painting done in February 1st. It's not March 16th, I decided to give him a little break as he said he was feeling sick. That was 3 weeks ago, I have yet to hear back from him. He's made very little progress. I'm tired of waiting and I was even kind enough to give him a month extension on our agreement.
Is now the time to report him to PayPal? I asked him for a refund in the last email and got no response. I'm done dealing with him. Any advice on how to avoid this types of people in the future?

As an artist who does commissions I can say that chances are high he's not even started and has already spent all your money. Ask for a sketch before paying anything and also only commission artists with good reputations/ frequent output of art.

I'll give you my honest opinion, sorry if it comes across as rude. It seems like you're focusing on trying to draw the fat as blobs without finding out how fat naturally hangs, and from where. Kinda like trying to draw the clothes before drawing the body. Maybe try drawing fit people then draw the fat hanging from it's specific areas?

That's the problem. As the other anon said, fat distributes itself in predictable ways on the human body and hangs off key points or gathers in specific places. Find some references and study how fat people actually look.
