If you are a /beg/inner in art, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice.
We should not have to make new threads or post in the drawthread with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (I recommend ShareX)
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new (and cleaner) sticky in town! You can see it at:

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

Concept art of a character for a game I'm working on. I like this one.
>>2897625
I like it too. Can I use it?
Sure I guess, but we may end up with very similar looking characters, because this design is near final.
Here's the rest of the stuff that was on the page.
how do I make water color ink designs like this? what should i buy?
>>2897559
Water color
That pen in picture
And some white paper

no I want to paint other stuff besides anime, I don't understand if that is paint or ink?
Has anyone thought about making money by being one of those street portrait artists you see in tourist cities across Europe. I'll be needing to make some money during summer and I feel that my portrait skills are at a level of not shitness that I can capture a decent likeness in 10-15 minutes.
>>2897475
I suspect it's way harder to do than you think. There will be distractions like wind, noise, the public, sun, bugs etc. The people who sit will get impatient and move a lot. You'll need to draw super fast and if you do a bad drawing you have to deal with disappointed customers.
I think you also need a permit in most places to be able to do it.
>>2897480
Yeah, not entirely sure, but unless you're part of a festival, you may need a permit.
10-15 minutes isn't bad though, just keep in mind you're likely to deal with children more than adults, and kids fidget quite a bit. Best wishes if you decide to go through with it.
>>2897475
I went to paris and walked through montmartre. The portrait artists there were like annoying beggars who would start drawing you if you made eye contact and then begin shouting at you if you walked away (because they wanted you to sit there and then pay for it).
Left me with a distaste for street artists.
does anyone know or is able to identify who made this?
>>2897386
Probably a monolingual Chinese artist, which renders the reverse image search somewhat difficult
I'm trying to appreciate/ understand art more. Is pic related the best method for exposure, or is it just a worthless grind?
>>2897377
If you want to learn about art start with reading something like wikipedia to get a sense of art history. For Western art start around the Renaissance and then move towards the present. As you come across an artist google image them or look on wikiart and get a sense of their body of work and overall style. By the end of it you should be able to see a work you've never seen before and place it in the correct century. You should also have a rough idea of what type of art you like the best.
Guessing the artist name a website does nothing to actually educate you.
>>2897381
noted. thank you.
This is good if you're an art history student and are looking for a nice and easy way to quiz yourself, but it doesn't really fit the goal you're setting. What would be more beneficial to you would be to pick some really good artists, and study each one. There are many ways to do this: Read a biography, visit an art museum and view their works, read up on the style that they formed, their legacy, etc. Again, this website is good as far as sharpening the knowledge you already have, but if you're looking to educate yourself, reading is a good place to start.
>Want to get better at drawing
>One-Stop Beginners' Guide!
>"All you need to start is some cheap paper and a pencil. Go through one of these books and then start drawing objects from life frequently."
>Immediately recommends a book that requires way more materials
Off to a great start
What book?
Paper and pencil are all a beginner needs, if I had to add anything it'd probably be a ruler for perspective, but it's not really a requirement either. Or you can switch the pencil out for a pen.
A lot of the shit you're doing early on is going to be garbage anyway, you need the mileage, not fancy tools.

Got cucked by a shitty client
>Got a commison on the internet.
>Show him my work on multiple occasion during production
>"Is everything to you liking?"
>"Yes its all good"
>Finish
"Uhmmmm... I don't like it"
>Admits that he agreed to everything but still refuses to pay me
Fucking kill me /ic/.
How do you make sure that you don't waste your time working for nothing?
>>2897090
Charge half pay beforehand.
This way you only lose half.
Also, one commission at a time, the next one only under full payment of the last.
>>2897090
Take full payment upfront for private commissions
I don't charge very much to begin with because I'm not that good, but I do sketch > payment > render, at least that way I only wasted like an hour or two of my life if they decide to be an asshole and not pay
okay /ic/, it's possible to someone who have like 20 years old can "git gud" on drawing stuff, i mean i have a friend who always talk about draw art and shit like that but she wants to be an animator, i'm not an artis but as long as i knows her she suck on drawing, but when she was on middle school, she only talks about draw and started to draw, and lost the interest of art about 3 or 4 months , and like the last year she return with the same idea about drawing, art stuffs and etc. if you guys knows it's possible to her or definitely she's "not gonna make it". image not related

Looking for the term for the often japanese, warped perspecitve detailed room drawings. Searched for an example, this is the closest i've got.
>>2897055
''Learning curva-linear perspective''
>>2897056
Oh, i am aware of the technique, i am looking to see if there is a term for the explicitly japanses ones, often in watercolour.
>>2897058
Sorry, no idea.
Hello, i just found a picture in a hole in the wall of the apartment which i moved in a couple of month ago.
Since it was hidden in such a crazy way and i dont understand anything of art, could you tell me if it is worth anything?
>>2897047
Yuck. Looks like someone's dad painted it.
>>2897051
yeah it looks soo strange haha :D
>I just found this in my apartment
Then take a picture of it
So I've been studying this great master for some time now and figured how much of a loss to the art community it would be if his art techniques were not shown
