Should I spent 250$ on ellipse guides, copic markers, pads and a straight edge? I want to master draftsmanship traditionally.

I have 500$ saved up.

Spending tons of cash on shit wont make you draw better, pal.

Get a drawing pad and some charcoal sticks, pencils and a couple kneaded erasers & practice.

I started this way, ellipse guides and everything. Just learn digitally it's so much faster, don't be so romantic.

If you really are going traditional, just get a T-square and transparent straight edge. Marker paper and prismacolors, copics are weeb hype.

Skip ellipse guides you will probably use them wrong anyway if someone isn't instructing you on perspective. Also such a massive pain setting up wide vanishing points.

So sometimes I will take drawings and paintings during the creating process and look at them in the mirror or take photos of them and flip the image horizontally. I must be seeing them so long that I want a "new view" of them. I even keep unfinished works upside down when I am not working on them. I have come a long way since I started and paint realism, the better I get the less works of art have ever achieved "hyper-realism" because my eyes can see better. Discuss this or similar things , how you feel and what you think.

I do something similar. I research a subject. The Madonna and child. Then I take a piece that inspires me from that genre and use that to create my holiday cards.

Since I was bee keeping I decided to do a Madonna and Child except I used bees as my subject. I created the art on 8 1/2 x 11 130 pound cold press. I used water color pencils and water color. Then I scan it in and shrink it down to 1/2 size. It looks much better that way. Plus the folks get original art holiday cards. I have fun with my art.

HOW THE FUCK DO I DRAW ON THIS ?
I picked up my dusty tablet and I just realised I can't draw on it.
It's fucking hard.
My lines are 10 times worse than my traditional ones and I don't have landmarks ("lineghosting" is near impossible)
Any tips on how to transition ?

Use it more. Thats literally it.

Also stop caring about what you make for the first few sketches. Find a natural position to draw with it (I put it on top of my keyboard, so it has an incline) and just draw boxes, circles, lines and other simple shit until they stop looking wobbly.

I always hear people say that anyone can learn to draw with the proper teacher and whatnot. But I in every literally way can't draw. My brain can't think of what to do or how to do it. I can't make lines look good and when I look at someone drawing I don't understand how they are able to look at the unfinished project and nkow what they are doing. I can only ever see random lines. I think I literally cant draw.

Is there any problem with using oil paint on acrylic paint paper ? Also would my drawing make for a waste of paint

I have another question, what difference does it make how much linseed oil I use? As in drying time
>>
>>3121006
>Is there any problem with using oil paint on acrylic paint paper ?
For student work, not an issue. You might want to put a layer of gesso down, to get used to working with it. If you want these paintings to be around in 20 years, you then have a problem.

>Also would my drawing make for a waste of paint
Judging by your drawing skills, yes. It's probably too advanced for you, and you'll just get frustrated and quit. Try something simple, like a still life, and learn something from it. Work on values, and lighting.

>what difference does it make how much linseed oil I use?

Linseed oil will directly effect the drying time - the more you use, the longer it will take.

Oil painting should be done "fat over lean", or, thin coats starting out, with "fatter" layers (more paint/oil), so the underlayers dry. If you want to cut drying time, use less oil, and use a medium like Liquin, which will cut the paint like oil, but will dry in half the time. Don't use Liquin for glazes, alone, add a few drops at a time to raw paint for mixing, and make a real glaze with turps, oil, and varnish, with a few drops of Liquin in it.

If you don't know what glazing is, don't worry about it, you're too new to painting to worry, it's an advanced technique. If you want to thin paint, use a couple drops or turps, or Liquin.
>>
>>3121147
We'll see how advanced it really is. Will post painting results for this gem.

I lose a lot of time being indecisive, I get a lot of requests and have a big "to do" list

Do you have a way to prioritize or way to choose what to draw?

>Should I read books before drawing or after?
While. Like this:
>read chapter
>draw what chapter explains
>copy the drawings offered in the book
>draw from photos
>draw a few from imagination to see if you got it
>if not, go back to step 2
>only when you're sure you've completely dominated that chapter's subject, go to next chapter
>Don't forget to practice the content of the previous chapters

>I don't want to feel too tired

>>3120833
You are goddamn retarded. If one is tired, it's hard for him to learn, no matter what you might tell yourself. The OP's case is just about prioritizing, you can't do everything with the same proficiency.
